The guide on the Wiki gives a chart of all the weapons you can trade to Luto Mewrilah to give to your fellow, but I honestly don't see why I should.

The guide states: "The specific weapon's level and damage rating do not affect the damage dealt by your fellow."

So why should I ever "upgrade" my fellow's weapon if it doesn't affect damage dealt?

It's just to change the type they use. Their damage, delay, and WSes available will change, it just doesn't matter which weapon of a type you give them; it will always be level appropriate for them.

Upgrade to a great katana and never look back. They get all the best WS's.

Yeah, because their stats are generally crappy, the single hit and attack bonus on Y/G/K pretty much puts them well above anything else, plus the overall much higher odds they'll use one of those instead of like... Slice.

I actually make mine use polearm. As a drk, sch, or blu I lack being able to use a piercing weapon. To many times I have had trials for MoT, killing bats, birds and such. But I do agree GK is nice.

I was always pleased when my galka man servant would bust out penta thrust from his bounty of sh*t weapon skills, but then it'd only do like 400 damage and I'd be pissed that I couldn't at least make distortion off of it.

I usually go for weaponskills I can chain with so I can complete trials easier. GK is one of the few weapons which can start almost every skillchain in the game, and can close literally any of them. It's small wonder with Samurai being the skillchain masters.

Nah, my Raka never uses Slice (and in fact, NPCs will rarely use the two lowest level WS once they have higher ones). Shadow of Death, on the other hand... she LOVES that WS and probably uses it more than Guillotine and Cross Reaper. >.<

At any rate, I use Scythe for fashion ONLY. Mandibular Sickle gives a weapon model that looks like an Ivory Scythe, pearly white. Goes great with her Opaline Dress set and Lilac Corsage. Is DD performance and SC ability better with a GK? Yeah, probably so. But when I'm using an NPC I'm usually doing farming-type stuff where it really doesn't matter much, so I go for full-on style.
