There's always...not trolling him?
You're new here, aren't you?
The trolling that goes on in here causes me nothing but headaches every time it pops up, and as hard as you guys are making it for me, I'd really like for that to be cut back in general. Obviously some trolling is inevitable, and at times fun for everyone involved, but there are also some times, here and there, were some people are making legitimate comments, and a half dozen posts or so are just nothing but troll posts. The topic ends up getting derailed, the OP gets extremely defensive, and I'm forced to lock the whole thing. At the same time, there are people that I feel, to be blunt, could use a bit of a thicker skin about some things. While some of the barbs thrown their way I do find legitimately harsh, there are other quips that seem so minor that I would almost not even consider them trolling.
What I'd really like is for there to be a kind of an understanding to a degree so we can meet in the middle with this. For those that enjoy trolling to just ease up a bit, and for those on the other hand to not necessarily take everything said as serious as you might do. I'd like =10, the job forums, etc to be fun for everyone, and not some place where half the people are getting kicks out of trolling like crazy and the other half are taking offense to what could be perceived as very small things.
I'm sorry, but without some sort of crackdown to accompany that comment I don't beleive it will be met.
Some people do not know the stove is hot until they get burned. Some people will only do what they are supposed to in the immediate danger of unwanted consequence.
Only doing your homework, at the last minute, because you'll fail if you don't turn it in.
Not drinking and driving only because you're on parole and you know there's a cop waiting outside the bar.
Only showing up on time for work because you can't afford to get written up.
We have those types here. Even if they are to a lesser degree of severity. And the only way Zam boards, in general, are going to stand an environmental improvement is if there is a tolerance policy change in the moderation and administration.
That means, leaning towards those who don't have the thicker skin, as opposed to being more forgiving of Trolls.
There's nothing wrong with slapping someone with a mute for a day for going too far. That should be the 'slap on the wrist' level of punishment instead of a verbal warning. This forces people to take time to cool off and gives them every opportunity to re-evaluate their approach. When a person starts accumulating repeat offenses of that, then you can start making the mutes/bans longer.
As far as RDM Melee, that is a tired old subject that has not changed in years. The official boards cover most of the discussion on that topic now and they're far more informed about it than most. Even though I no longer play I still follow those conversations and the 'development' of my favorite Job.
As far as the 2hr, or rather the only one that interests me. The ability they've listed should have been a 15 minute Meritable ability, and even then, is underpowered for that sort of function. In my opinion, if this is the approach they have, it should be a 3 minute buff, and the effects on each ability should be enhanced further than they are.
Alternatively they can make the effect a party-wide buff that effects the enhancing magic of all effects on the entire party regardless of who cast it or when (Yes, this means a stronger Embrava as well, as you're burning 2 2hr cool-downs for it.) Then duration can be balanced in the testing server accordingly.
But that's just throwing some ideas in the kettle. I doubt SE will take much action on this, unless the new Producer brings Yoshida's policies back from FFXIV with him.
