I've bought Crysta using UltimatePay/PayPal many times, but today all my attempts have failed.

The transaction proceeds as far as PayPal authorising payment and closing the window, at which time I get back to UltimatePay's pop-up with an "PayPal Express Payment Rejected".

Thing is, it wasn't, PayPal sent the authorisation notification e-mail, then shortly after the transaction is listed as 'Canceled' and the funds have been put back into my PayPal account. I made 5 attempts, all failed.

Thing is, I have no idea why nor any idea how to find out. PayPal clearly don't seem to be the problem, UltimatePay seem to provide no means to raise a problem without creating an account (which I don't intend to do), and Square Enix I expect won't know either because I assume UP are simply telling SE payment couldn't be obtained.

Kind of three parties with the one in the middle seemingly uncontactable. :(

Anyone else having/had this kind of problem? Anyone with a working e-mail contact point to UltimatePay?

They've been having maintenance for the past few weeks to try and fix this problem. Both Click and Buy and PlaySpan have been having a lot of maintenances, atleast for as far as i can see on POL. (Jul 30, Jul 31, Aug 5, Aug 15, 5 sept, and they have more of them planned around the start of October.

I dont see why you dont just pay with a creditcard. No hassle, no need to buy Crysta each month manually. But some people simply enjoy tormenting themselves i suppose.

To be fair you can set Paypal to auto renew as well, and as a Canadian I get better exchange rates with paypal then my credit card, which is pretty dang awesome.

I guess the real question is, why use a CC online when paypal is accepted, gives you better rates, and doesn't charge you money to be a member, nor interest if you don't repay in time.

Seems odd to me...then again I am a fan of money in my pocket.

Using PayPal via UP was the only way I prepared to by Crysta at its inception, remember SE only managed to get around to allowing use of CCs directly not long ago, before that it was Click & Cry or UP, I hate C&C with a passion so UP it was and it so happened that PayPal was the most convenient way for me.

I've seen their announcements of Maintenance but those say nothing about any problems they're trying to fix, so I didn't relate those events to this problem.

Thanks to Aeriss for at least confirming that it's probably nothing to do with my accounts per se, I'll try a couple more times then maybe I will change over to using a CC directly to SE, as I always did with XI before the coming of the SE Account.

Credit Unions are the best kept secret, or perhaps best slandered business, in the United States. That I have a card that accesses my checking account (securely) and I make like 20 cents a month on my minimal balance just makes me wonder why people literally pay banks to keep their money these days. Hell, for-profit banking is probably one of those things that will be toted as evil and the downfall of our society someday, but that's a completely different discussion.

Does make me wonder what my exchange rates are if I were to start buying things in Canadian though. I bet it's still pretty good since I'm in Washington and so close to Canuckland anyway. Where do you find the Paypal exchange rates?

Only way I know is through currency exchange. I haven't seen it displayed openly on PayPal anywhere. According to that exchange it is about $.978 CAD for $1 USD on Pay Pal. My Bank offers me .998 on my CC (essentially it ammounts to about 4-5 cents saved per month of FFXI or EVE. 8-10 cents for both) (not including their greedy ass 1.5% transfer fee)

Also I use my Credit Bureau Account on PayPal because I get no lame fees like I would from TD. Pretty much the only reason I even have a TD account anymore is because of a loan I got for school. CB + Paypal = feeless buying power.

It is just to bad you almost always need a CC for anything in the real world, I wish I didn't have to have one, because I never use it, and still have to pay some silly 15 dollar a month usage fee (even if it goes unused). The best part, they charge that 15 bucks to my CC, and not with an invoice, meaning if I forget about it, I get a nice fat 19% charge on top of that, as well as a 25 dollar late payment fee.

I hate Credit Cards, I love Pay Pal, I love no fee banking, and I am rambling.
