Does the food effect bonus mean my red curry buns +1 will start lasting 1 hour again? I thought I was just looking at the clock wrong the other times it happened, but I actually wrote down when I took one this morning and it was gone in 30 minutes.

The curry buns are unusual in that manner. For some reason, every other HQ food has increased duration EXCEPT curry buns.

And yes, the food bonus will increase your HQ curry buns to 1hr, which it should have been in the first place.

for anyone who hasn't been following it closely, please notice the lack of the new 2hours, and let me emphasize; Not including them was a very good thing.

What is the obsession with 20 hour limitations on content? Why 20 hours? Seems such a strange number. It shouldn't be there in the first place (here's all this new content you can try out! Oh, wait, you tried it today already. So sorry, come back later), but why is it 20?

20 is the better alternative to 24 hours, as it's still technically a daily restriction, but does allow to events being late one day without hindering the schedule the next day.

Still, shouldn't have been there in the first place.

True, I suspected there was probably something like that in play, but it's just frustrating really. I mean, at least a lot of them accumulate, so if you can start the timer well before you plan to do the content you can generally manage (Abyssea for example, I've got hundreds of stones stored up these days), but it still doesn't make sense to restrict people's ability to play your content.

20 hours is 8 and a bit in a week. NPC holds up to 4. That's 2 runs of 4 tags a week, and you can gone same times same days each week. If they did 24 hours then you'd either have to do 3 and 4, or keep constantly shifting when you go.

The terrible thing isn't 20 hours, it's the NPC only holding 4 tags. The worst part of assault.

As much as people may hate it, it makes sense from SEs side to limit the participation in certain events. If we had the ability to spam this event nonstop (mind you it is only a 15 minute event in the first place) people would be done with it in a matter of weeks. By restricting our access it forces us to take more time to accomplish the event. Think of events like old Nyzul which were still getting done for quite awhile after they were introduced due to limitations on access (as well as some bad drop rates but that is besides the point). Just my two cents on that.

It's one thing to restrict, another to put that out of the player's control. If your whole party had to farm something to get in, and that took maybe an hour or two, I doubt people would mind if the rewards were worth it. Yet, long cooldowns on top of the "tag" cap is pretty much par for "do it or suffer" in the sense you're pressured to do something daily (Dynamis-style) or at least every 3-4 days in bulk (Assault).

But yes, as I continue to play other games, it's a bit nauseating looking back and seeing creature comfort and general design perks SE could add, but just won't for whatever silly reason. Other games may have 10-20 man raids on longer lockouts, but basic dungeons are pretty much free to spam, and I'd correlate stuff like Meeble and Assault to such. Does this mean the hardcores get their sh*t quickly? Sure. Yet, those devs also give them incentives to go back through daily rewards and the simple virtue of salvaging unwanted items into rarer craft goods. Basically, they grasp the concept that warm and fuzzy feelings aren't enough to motivate people.

Ancient Currency Icon Update

Hello!

We received some feedback that ancient currency icons looked quite similar to each other, and some mistakes were made when purchasing. Therefore, in the next version update, we will be introducing updated icons for each piece. Here is an example from Bastok:

We feel this should help with quickly distinguishing currency's value.
What do you think?

This.

Personally I play this game on and off, so when I come back after a long-time away and I have a decent chunk of abyssea stones saved up, it's good to allow me to play catch-up since I will clearly be behind.

Tags/Stones/Whatever generating over a time-period are a GOOD idea, it stops initial content-spamming and allows developers to really focus on their next project as well as making people "work together" to get things done efficiently in most cases, so the limited time is not wasted.

When they limit Tag/Stone/Whatever storage at the NPC level, that's just plain stupid, and a BAD idea.

It's like saying "OH! You are way behind everyone else? TOUGH SH*T YOU SIT THERE AND YOU ROT. NO ONE ELSE DOES THIS EVENT ANYMORE BECAUSE THEY HATE WAITING ON TAGS AND SCHEDULING REAL LIFE CRAP AROUND A VIDEO GAME. YOU SHOULD HAVE PLAYED WHILE THE PLAYING WAS GOOD IDIOT".

As stated already in this thread, it just forces you in a stupidly unrealistic routine so instead of having the ability to play the game (no matter how difficult or complex) at your LEISURE... you are stuck playing it at FFXI's very time controlling whim, and still subject to the same difficulties and complexities. It's not like they are throwing us a bone a few times a week, they are instead forcing us into an uncomfortable pocket 1 time a week. Absolutely horridly stupid to be limited in so many ways on content that could offer potential fun.

Another annoying concept is that there's no "supply and demand" with this method, it's quite simply incredibly high demand, no supply, it destroys the essence of any economy or desires from the player-base in favor of ... what? Manipulating the players to be addicted to a routine? That strategy is the sign of a failed mmo... one grasping at straws to stall out players rather than entertain them with an actual game.

EDIT: Also super-cool that 10 years in they change the icons for Dynamis Currency. Game developers certainly have their priorities straight...

Yeah just started doing nyzul recently and I understand some of the reasoning behind the limitations of tags for that event is because it isn't truly instanced, but for cripes sakes I feel like I am being punished because the devs refuse to update to 201* tech.

Things went well for the first week, then surprise surprise real life intervened and we haven't done floors since. If we could have just spammed to 100 over two days and been done with it with the hundreds/thousands of tags we would have with an abyssea style system, then the few of us with more time could be farming it for town gear.

I mean, crikes this gear isn't even endgame relevant anymore, why can't we just do it as much as we want without the bullsh*t restrictions?
