I hope the expansion is available through digital distribution, otherwise it could take a month for me to get it shipped from UK because of customs being evil. Ubisoft didn't bother shipping WOTG to Norway so I higly doubt they'd ship SoA to Norway.

Um, why would Ubisoft ever ship a FF game anywhere?

They where the ones that distributed FFXI in Europe.

Because that's how the game industry works outside of America. Other companies handle distribution.

Considering they haven't released any more screenshots/trailers, it seems a bit early to me. But I guess if they were working full time on it, it could make sense.

Wonder if the revamped UI will make it by then.

Is that any different from the past expansions? I remember a trailer at like Vanafest. But never anything more than a website with a few spoiler pictures hinting at different things.

It's different yeah. It's similar to WotG but CoP and ToAU had a bit more going for it by this point especially so close to it's supposed release. We haven't even gotten a Job preview video..with ToAU we got to see COR, BLU and PUP last when it was decided on rather than Necromancer.

That was barely a few months after announcement and Blue mage had Black Magic casting animation as a placeholder and they were determining what the abrv. for it would be since 'BLM' was already taken.

So they definitely are slacking.

I hope SE is making sure to have enough bandwidth available. Especially since its looking like digital download is the only way PC will be getting SoA. Really no excuse not to imo since they prolly saved a bundle not having to manufacture/distribute hard copies for anything outside of Japan except the Xbox 360.

If you bothered actually clicking the link to the Adoulin site you'd know the answer, it's on that very page: YES!

"Price Windows® PC (Digital Download) $29.99 Windows® PC (Digital Download) $39.99"

Second price is a new Ultimate Collection, btw.

Is it just me or does that trailer seem sort of nice but also very empty?

That information wasn't available when he posted it. The OP was edited a day later after.

All in all, this is one of the only things really keeping me excited about FFXI. I was hoping this see monsters a bit more close up or a tiny bit of game action from the new classes. I guess we'll see that soon. I'm wondering the way they showed those butterflies near the beginning hovering around a flower if it's an enemy. They have a lot more detail and color than most background creatures.

Go to the site. There's stuff about new monsters at least (names, screenshots, including a very NOPE one). New zones too.

I hope that this doesn't turn into a WoTG like expansion...that 3 years of playing and hoping for something to happen was by far the single largest reason I can no longer play this game like I used to. I could go without experiencing that again. In related news, pretty pumped for this new expansion.

The trailer itself isn't convincing enough for me to come back, but I always said I would come back to the game when they added more mission-quality story into the game.

My thoughts: We'll see. I need to see more! I like the site renovation!

Umbril
As their name suggests, umbrils skulk amongst the shadows, shrouded in mysteries as opaque as their natural habitat. Records from ancient scrolls confirm their existence in Eastern Ulbuka since long ago, yet details regarding their behavior are few and far between--the most terrifying of which is that they can glide through earth and walls with nary a thought. No wonder they're most widely known only as the "Jungle's Curse."

D:

That's going to be interesting in avoiding aggro if they placed their pathing through walls. Also going to be pretty hard to run away from them if they actually can walk through walls.

SE gave mobs Clipper~ :P

Anyway, I'm pretty much gonna wait for feedback from others once things are out. If the jobs are trash and the content generally underdeveloped, I can wait the 6 months or whatever it'd take to add more while fixing up things. As is, I've still got 10 months of a Rift sub I can come and go with right now.

Far as the trailer/site content goes, I fear it's still a bit sparse, but this is a start. I generally tend to be indifferent about environments, more concerned about what goes on within.

Did you guys see the horribly inaccurate kotaku post about this? Says the game will be released on ps2 in US and that XI "hasn't had an add on for six years"

Sigh. I can't believe people get paid to be so sloppy.

I for one am rather excited for this. While the initial trailers are sparse, for me it gives just enough of a taste of what we'll be seeing that I'm wanting to know more.
