Did you guys see the horribly inaccurate kotaku post about this? Says the game will be released on ps2 in US and that XI "hasn't had an add on for six years"

Sigh. I can't believe people get paid to be so sloppy.

Who reads Kotaku? That site is HORRIBLE for gaming news.

It was linked the the LS forum...

I never thought much of it, but this definitely made me take note of how bad they are.

The new Vana'diel Collection in Japan contains an in-game item, Chocobo Shirt. :-/ I really hope they include that in the NA release. I'm a sucker for in-game items. Just a hunch, but given it's advertised with Destrier Beret, I'm wondering if it's along the lines of it, helping to boost leveling under 30.

Does it come with shirt and beret? I still really want that damn hat.

Also I finally was able to open the website on my big computer. Some cool stuff there!

The mobs were the most interesting tidbits.

It better not be a Steam-only download.

Sorry, SE, but I am not creating a Steam account just to make things more convenient for you.

I do believe SE has their own download system these days. I had to create a new account (even though I already own a SE account) at their store to download FF7. So I think you will end up creating an account anyway!
#33REDACTED, Posted: Dec 29 2012 at 8:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't know, the trailer and screenshots do not look impressive at all but rather minor touch-ups of existing lands that we always see. Perhaps its the level of graphics that are 10 years old and the two jobs that will not change anything but it looks like the expansion will be pretty lackluster.

Some of those zones ARE the same. It flashes on Jeuno and San d'Oria near the middle of the video.

The tree falling into the river is cool. And a forest made up of palm trees is quite different.

Thing is, XI can't be judged by graphics any more. The story is what keeps us around and will make or break a new expansion. It seems like this story is a reflection of the Tokugawag shogunate, what with Adoulin being locked away from outside contact for centuries and all.

Yep some are existing, however it's like you never played a modern MMO before which is a larger culprit in "touch ups of existing lands we always see."

I'm wondering if this is going to be an expansion for all levels or just more content for the level 70 + crowd. The old areas are getting really boring after 10 + years. Be nice to have some new scenery to level around 50 or lower.

New ways of gearing up besides Abyssea I think would be great. I know there has been numerous content updates like VW, Legion, Neo Nyzul Isle, CoP and recent Salvage but all of them sort of requires you to gear up properly in Abyssea beforehand.

The whole "continent locked away for centuries" thing was pretty much already done with ToAU lol

And, to a lesser extent, Tavnazian Safehold.

Kazham and Altepa too.

So that makes... well... every expansion including some locked away land, lol!

ToAU wasn't locked away from the traders, they just had no public transit to and fro until the Tenshodo got the bright idea to start a regular ferry service, subsidized by the Empire in order to import fresh cannon fodder from the central continents.

Adoulin feels more like Japan during the Tokugawa shogunate, kept deliberately in isolation for two centuries until it was basically busted open by Admiral Perry's warships.

The thing is, NPCs with connections travel to those places all the time. There just isn't a public transit system like there is in the "unlocked" areas.

The only example of private transit that player characters have is the airship in the Tavnazian Safehold, and we can't even steer it ourselves - the autopilot runs it to take us to {sea}.

I love how the video they released says "Locked away from human contact." Then shows humes in the video.

Someone in the marketing department needs to be fired.

Must be the first civilization in history that achieves time travel and interdimensional travel before widespread sea or air travel.

I hope the next expansion has the mithran homeland actually be another planet to avoid this complaint

The Far North would have been locked off by ice flows and for the few, the brave, the stupid who ventured onto it, by the horrendous stench from the Gnole Pooping Grounds.

The Far South is open, but given it is the land of Mithra, everyone who goes never leaves because seriously, who would want to leave that place?

That leaves the Far East.

Uh, no. Canon storyline says otherwise.

Their lack of a *****.

Also, we barely even got the rest of the near east so I doubt aside Adoulin (considering ARR and their hope for it over taking XI) we won't see the other lands ever and if we do it'll be something like Urhgan where we only get one part which they can easily do in a regular content update.
