So the bug they removed a while ago was actually meant to be a feature later on?

The announcement blurb also seem to imply that there will be more than one Double EXP campaign.

I wonder if dynamis exp will doubled as well.

If Dedication wouldn't boost the EXP something would give you, it probably does not count under this promotion dealy they've got going on.

In other words:

Book exp = probably not
Dynamis exp = probably yes
Abyssea exp = definitely not, because they've said so

So basically, it'll only be any good for Dynamis trials (probably) and getting those lowbie jobs up high enough to leech GoV and Abyssea. Woooooooo

So, does the EXP bonus in FOV/GOV double or not?

It's not strictly EXP gained from killing mobs, it's a bonus for killing so many, but it's not a Dedication AFAIK nor gained by items. Thus I don't see any indication if this doubles or not.

"certain types of content" almost certainly includes book exp

Which kinda sucks, because the majority of exp we gain at the moment for leveling comes from page completions and/or abyssea, thus kinda defeating the purpose of this campaign. Smiley: oyvey

I guess you're probably right, I was thinking that phrase was referring to XP gained in Mission fights, but yeah, I can see it more likely applies to the EXP bonuses here.

So, for three days we get double mob kill XP but that's a small percentage of XP gained from FOV/GOV parties .. guess one of the biggest benefits comes from Decennial Rings for those of us that still have them.

It appears The Admiral is right, this is a pretty lame attempt to get players leveled .. and of course does nothing for those stuck on 95.

Like I said, this only looks to have a purpose for Dynamis trials and for leveling like 1-10 solo (which is already **** easy nowadays)

That was exactly what I was thinking. I know that they apparently have crappy source code control and just copy stuff over from some internal dev server when they do updates, and I was wondering where the a bug like that could have come from. Now we know, they really were working on doing that.

Then the second thing I thought was "Ha ha, now that don't really need exp anymore." because I already have 20x99. I have a no-subjob mule that I level for fun (first pup, now bst), but on my main character I'm always like "oh crap 30 merits, now I gotta find a job to dump em on!"

And for those speculating, the behavior of "the bug" was literally to double normal XP. This is the XP that the Dedication effect works on, and thus it will be multiplying the doubled XP. The only question is if the dedication limit is doubled or not. Decennial ring has a limit of 10000 per use, and I'm going to guess it's unchanged. You just have to kill half as much to burn it off.

FoV/GoV page exp is of the same type as "clearing content of via items", and should not be effected. And I'm going to bet that this doesn't effect Abyssea exp (which gives the Level Up animation but has completely different calculations) either.

They outright said it's not going to apply for Abyssea, so yeah

I'll definitely be leveling some other jobs if this does end up counting GoV pages, but otherwise I cant see it being a faster way to level if it doesnt so I probably wont.

"and of course does nothing for those stuck on 95. "

How are you stuck at 95? Nothing 4-5 hours in a Bos GoV party killing leeches wont do.

What they really need to do is have a triple skill up rate weekend.

No point going there if one's stuck with a level 95 cap that can only be removed by paying mercs millions of gil to run you through it since so few players need it any more: sadly, my two characters are two of them that do.

I despise SE for making this LB a 'group only' affair when all other LBs were made soloable/duoable due to the problem people were having completing those.

Although it's easier now, you still need a party to clear the final limit break, and there aren't a lot of shouts (because most people are done) if you don't have enough friends high enough in level to help you out.

I like this idea, hopefully I have internet by then!!!

Time to get your low level jobs or your few remaining 1's to 30?!

Limit break: I still see shouts for limit break fairly frequently, and if you farm yourself a tail people will help you break it (I know I've joined folks trying to help them break)

Double exp: I think the benefit here is making it more viable to play around outside the normal burn areas. I know I have gotten fairly sick of them, and besides every time I think "hey, might be fun to level..." I check the areas and they are packed to the brim with 2, 3 people waiting in line.

I wouldn't mind, say, grabbing a friend and duoing in ToAU areas, for example, get some IS, etc. Even with double exp it will be less efficient than books but the change of scenery alone would be nice.

Uh..it's not SE faults you missed out. People were doing 95 cap fight for damn near 7 months solid before I took a break, and yes even helping people. God forbid an MMO has group activity, it's unheard of.

Would be nice if they'd given us a choice in this. They could've done a poll on the forums to see what we'd want for a "Double xxx Campaign". Two that come to mind that I would've valued more than exp are drop rates and skill ups. Hell, I would've probably enjoyed double walking speed more than double exp. I do a lot of walking now that I'm actually finishing missions... don't do too much exping.

Edit to the above post: I personally do think it's SEs fault. They should know by now that their MMO is very old, and that a limit break is a much, much more finite thing than gear drops/upgrade items. They should have made the final limit break a solo affair from the get go to avoid exactly this situation. If I were to pick up the game 10 months from now and got to level 95, you'd say it was my fault for not buying the game sooner? That's ridiculous.

I don't think it even fits in with the rest of the LBs in a story sense, either. Why, all of a sudden, are other people included in the expansion of MY limits? Then again, SE is a Japanese company, and no offence to the Japanese but they're very rigid when it comes to any kind of change of ideas. They still like to think this game runs on normal exp parties if this double XP campaign is any indicator.

While the EXP may seem pointless to some, I hope this is more a sign of future promotional ideas like free weekends for people aren't subbed at the moment.

I know it's hard to imagine, but someone MAY have joined after that 7 month period... probably.

...of course, this is also why my reply to every "I am a returning player" post is always "Find a linkshell now, even before creating a character". One should expect group content in any MMO.
