I know the game was a derivative of it, but that's an Everquest UI if I've ever seen one.

There's no mini map, but there's a smaller map telling you what portion of the map that you're looking at?

Someone should inform them that they should reveal certain pieces of information on the status screen since they are tweaking the UI. Information such as accuracy, magic attack, ranged accuracy/attack, magic defense, damage reduction.

They've been informed, they chose not to include stuff like accuracy and the like.

Hello.

Thanks so much for the feedback regarding the new UI.
I'd like to respond to some of the system-related aspects.

To start off, we've been proceeding with the creation of this new UI based on what was commented previously in the thread titled,"New Windows Version User Interface." With that said, if there are those of you who have yet to read over this, please be sure to do so first.

Also, please understand that we are still very much in the midst of creating this new UI.
We implemented this on the Test Server at a much earlier point than normal in order to show off the progress as well as allow you to get the general feeling of the new UI.

Due to the above, it's a bit difficult to answer in detail about particular aspects, but I would like to respond with some comments about the basic plans.

• Using a gamepad with the new UI

Quote:
Please make it possible to use gamepads with this new UI.

While the current UI is very user-friendly for gamepad controls, we are making it so the new UI is much more user-friendly when using mouse and keyboard. It's not that gamepads cannot be used with the new UI at all, but it's quite difficult to make it function like the current UI where gamepad controls are very comfortable. Though, the special characteristics of controls for gamepads and mouse/keyboard are different, so having them exist at the same time could cause functional degradation of the UI.

However, just as I mentioned at the start, we will be making adjustments and working on the UI from here on out. Naturally, moving forward we will be doing various things to improve overall operation, so we’d like to do our best to secure ease of gamepad operation as much as possible.

• Using the new features with gamepads

Quote:
Please make it possible to use some of the new features with the old UI so we can continue to use gamepads.

Due to resolution and input device differences, it's not possible to add all of the new features to the current UI. As this was designed as a new UI, there are a lot of features that comprise it. With that said, we’d really appreciate it if you could understand that it is not so easy to separate parts from it and implement only these portions for the current UI.

However, I very much understand what you are saying, and we will continue to look into this the best we can.

• Operability improvements, new feature requests, etc.

I've read over all of the feedback we have received thus far.
While the fundamental plan of creating a UI that focuses around keyboard and mouse control will remain unchanged, in addition to basic improvements in operation and design, we will continue to look into gamepad support as much as possible.

But no one uses a mouse for XI, do they? So why implement a UI designed for using a mouse?

XIV's UI engineers didn't seem to have a problem with this. Maybe you should give them a call.

And while you're at it, will you finally fix the controller config client so that it matches the same functionality already programmed into the xbox client while using an xbox controller?

I hope you'll be able to scale the new UI. Running the game in 2560x1440 makes the current UI incredibly hard to look at unless you scale it. Scaling the current UI also messes up the mouse controls I believe.

Changing Automaton Equipment
If Puppeteer is set as your main or support job, it is possible to change equipment for you or the automaton from the left side of the change equipment window.

Puppeteer? You're killing me, SE...

Thing is, there really doesnt seem to be much new with this UI. Looks different sure, can move stuff yeah.

But wheres the stuff people wanted like more lines per macro, saving puppeteer (lol) automaton sets, mini maps, anything useful?

And yeah gonna go with, i cant think of the last time anyone used a mouse in ff11. I use a keyboard and havent needed a mouse ever. Targeting was so horrible with mice, and without perma up hot bars there is virtually no reason to ever use a mouse.

SE would make my life infinitely better by making it easier to transfer **** between my main and my mules. On the character selection page, how about some interface where you can more stuff from one character to another???

I don't disagree with you but this is a step in the right direction:

• Delivery feature
We will be adding a delivery feature to Mog Gardens.
We'll also be adding this convenient feature to Mog Houses as well.

Atleast now you'll be able to send stuff back and forth without ever leaving your mog house. That will speed it up significantly.

Yeah it looks pretty awful, and even though it's still unfinished I have a feeling it's not exactly going to change much between now and implementation. Also the fact that it's essentially useless for controller users makes it essentially useless to me. I hope it proves to be beneficial to everyone else though.

If they're making a new interface, and they think that putting those elemental resists on there is more important than putting a summation of attack, accuracy, evasion, and similar stats then they totally missed the point.

I really, really do not like how it looks visually. The old menus weren't great per say, but somehow these new ones feel even more dated than the old ones, like something you'd expect to see in a game even older than XI is.

I am scared this will actually be good, and i'll have to use it instead of my current custom UI mod.

The advantage to the new UI supposedly is that you can drag and drop the menus wherever you want.

Thing is, after a decade of seeing them where they are, I went and re-arranged my XIV layout to look like XI instead. I'm just used to them being as they are.

Too little, too late.
