Looks like Swipe is just a mini-Lunge after all with the level it's learned. I still don't get the point of that to tanking when all that JA delay is just going to be lowering your damage output, hence your enmity. Also looks like the text for Vivacious Pulse was translated/initially described wrong. Looks like it's either going to erase some debuffs based on the elements of the runes (I hope) or it's gonna be some bonus healing from day/weather (meh... no thanks).

Curious to see how Delve is going to work out since all they are doing is lowering the HP. I honestly was hoping they were going to get rid of the "you lose moves" or at least make it more strategic. Still locks you into needing a SCH to stun if that's all the did. I'll reserve final judgment until there are some testimonials or I've done it but I have to say I'm disappointed in that part. I don't think stunlocking should ever be the only way to effectively win a fight.

Considering you can also now use waypoints to complete the mission, yeah... seems like it's certainly getting nerfed. Was fun while it lasted.

I'm also skeptical of the RUN changes, but maybe if the JAs generate a lot of enmity it could still be worth it for tanking even with the JA delay.

For the delve bosses, looks like the lower man versions also change some mob behavior. Someone elsewhere noticed in the video that Tojil was casting single target sleep instead of Sleepga, for instance.

Oh yeah, I remember catching that in the video. Good catch.

I did a few lower rank assignments for Couriers. 4200 exp and bayld for Delivering Supplies Foret, and 7200 for Frontline Support Foret bovic #4 both using waypoints.

Some other things to note with the patch, however: Enmity gained via melee attacks by players over level 100 has been reduced. As well, wearing +Enmity will reduce enmity lost while struck while -Enmity will increase enmity lost when struck. This, in part, could service in off-setting JA delay a bit or the need for more rigid DPS from a tank, but who knows. Maybe the new JA has hidden enmity boosts, too. I imagine testing will follow.

Resolved Issues
  • The issue wherein chapulis would occasionally not take damage under certain conditions.

Is this referring to chapulis becoming invincible for a couple seconds after landing TP moves?

That was a bug? I always assumed that was just how chapulis worked...

Haha yea, seems like that's the common consensus around, as wiki states;

After looking at some of the +2 skirmish weapons they could be really nice depending on what the augments you get on them. I won't throw to much gil at the gear but might drop some on the sword to off hand on my blu.

Looks like they gave us a hint that Delve is being expanded very soon. Relic upgrades require among other items, Delve boss crafing drops + Voidwatch craft drops for NQ pulse gear. There are only 3 Delve bosses so far which is why we can only immediately upgrade relic head, hands and feet. So it's basically a confirmation at the least we'll see at least Yumcax and Hurkan in Delve soon.

What's that all about? Are there any All Jobs guns?

I keep seeing talk about RUN and dps making it hold hate. Maybe that's why so many people are using it as a dd. That is not the best way to tank with it. I haven't finished the download yet but if it is like I've said in previous threads the new JA will be a big boost in tanking. Hate with RUN is best held with spells and JA's and /nin.

Because prior to this update to melee hits having decreased enmity, it was the best way to increase enmity. It will completely depend on the enmity attached to Swipe. RUN/NIN isn't holding anything unless you have RNG and THF sticking hate on you. To me that's not a tank, you should be able to do that regardless.

I've tried all subs on RUN except for /whm. If you are trying to tank the best sub I've found is /nin and basically counting shadows along with blink if your timers are down. I'm still getting tp in between my castings and JA but just dps alone doesn't allow me to maintain hate. /Sam nope. /war nope. /rdm nope. /dnc nope. /sch nope. I've even tried /blu for cocoon. Nope. Once you start taking damage the mob turns and goes for the next person on the list. Lunge helps by generating damage and enmity. Having Swipe to cast as we'll in between Lunge will be helpful.

Apparently there's a new Lv 1 gun called "Decazoom Mk-XI" with enchantment Invisible every 8 hours (FFXIAH and BGWiki disagree about the timing). For some reason the icon looks like a baby pacifier.

Anyhow, I guess this will let you proc marksmanship on a job that otherwise doesn't have a gun.

RUN/NIN is based on the idea that you are tanking something in a very specific way. I didn't say it wasn't possible to tank in specific situations. Pre-update DPS was going to pull ahead of JA spamming, hence why SE lowered enmity so RUN could expand on these things. Idea of how RUN was intended to tank and reality at that time was two different things. No one had any idea they were adjusting enmity the way they did this update. So it really doesn't change the bewilderment of this JA pre-update. I never said Swipe is worthless, I said it better have decent enmity attached to it unrelated to damage. They did one better and just lowered all melee damage to compensate.

Yeah... LS did some Celaeno and Voidwrought on Sunday night, figured it was dead content. We were getting exp/merits for AAs, getting a couple people who never did VW the Windy clear, and going for harp for a guy leveling BRD. Those NPCed Celaeno Cloth/Voidwrought Plates HURT the next day...
