Hey,

I need a win so I can work towards JSE weapons. Getting money for items shouldn't be insurmountable, but I can't get the JSE without a difficult clear on a Microcosmic Orb (can't do AAs since no zilart done) or a delve win. Since delve win isn't going to happen, Micro orb seems a lot more attainable.

Any suggestions on which one with what setup?

OR, what do they mean by "Have defeated a high-tier mission battlefield on “Normal” or above difficulty?" - which mission battlefields? I have passed Ouryu in COP - is that one of the battlefields? If it is, can I access it if I've beat Ouryu already or do I need to be further?

Sorry for the Qs, just want the simplest route to get myself that harp.

Dumb question, but have you tried simply talking to the NPC to see if you've already met the requirements? Some people looked at the list of requirements and assumed they needed one from each category, but it's actually one of any of them that are needed.

Why is a delve win so unlikely? I see quite a few shouts of them.

if you have a decent whm, and 1 decent DD that will be able to overcome accuracy issues of Difficult. The Qubia Arena (Fey'in) is pretty easy. The key there is having a whm on top of defense down status. If you have a good pld, the rng isn't even a scare as cover at the right time can negate the danger from EES. Shadows from utsusemi also help.

I've won this with me as drg (Upukirex), my friend as pld, another friend as whm. The last 3 in our party were a new 99 cor that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, a 99 brd w/ 2 songs and no gear swaps so gimp songs, and a mnk that fulltimed 109 AF.

Edit:
I've seen 2 strats:
BLM > WAR > THF > RNG
BLM > THF > RNG > WAR - I am not sure about this strat, on the one hand the pld tanks the war until last and might even be able to take all of Mighty Strikes on his shield. On the other hand, one of your DDs is going to HAVE to eat EES from the RNG. So there is a one shot possibility from the RNG.

I've done on pld as well. I had about 75% acc on my pld on difficult with Burma and 50% acc buff from cor ( I was out of range of his rolls quite a lot).

Haven't done any of them, know for a fact. I see shouts for them... asking for 3+ song brd or 119 DD... and I am neither. Shouts are rare too.

Has anyone done new Ouryu on difficult? I qualify for that one.

High Tier Battlefields are the new AA fights/DM II, Celestial Nexus II, Empyrean Paradox II, Savage II, Tenzen II.

So you only have to beat one of those on Normal or higher.

I've done a few microcosmic orb battles (Tails of Woe II) for fun and those bcnm's are just beefed up versions of the old capped bcnms of the same name.

Anyone who used to spam worms turn or steaming sprouts in the old days to make gil should have a rough idea of thel set up needed to beat them. (BRD, RNG, BLM, PLD, WHM, DD.)

I've beaten Tails of Woe II on Very Easy with x4 BST, (2/4 BST didn't have ilvl gear) it's very hard and only just manage to scrape through and win 1/4 battles. I think the one we won was a fluke to be honest. ><

(There were lots of wiping, reraising, and throwing pets at it so not very ideal.)
I think if all of the bst were better geared then it would be a lot easier and should be able to go for something higher.

Pretty much all the SKC10 fights are the roughly the same in that you have one main NM and some amount of fodder. You either have a PLD hold it all while you kill NM and then pick off the trash one by one, or you have a BRD sleep them and do the same thing. All the strats are the same as for the capped fights.

needs to be difficult setting. Unfortunately I don't know any PLDs... ughghgghgh.

I'm guessing Mandies are easiest since poison pots can deal with sleepga spam, and whirl claws is waaaay nasty.... though worms might not be so bad with a manaburn party and a whm with proper barstone set and a 3 song brd (2X stone resist song 1X ballad?)

Yeah worms turn doesn't need any PLD and could be manaburned and people used to take a few rng parties in to that BC too.
Having a few people in crowd control is handy though.
One might try a timed GA spell on the same worm and have another person on sleepga duty?
This is just guess work really as I've never done the high level one.

Main NM worm draws in and you can't group the worms up so that's actually one I'd avoid. Nitro lullaby lasts a pretty long time, dunno how well sleepga will do.

PLD is still most foolproof way to do it although people probably don't shout for this kind of thing very much.

what if you actually ran in, had a BLU and a BRD sleepga-ing all the things, a GEO for Magic Def down and refresh to add to brd's refresh and focus fire on on the main NM? Then once main NM is down, retreat and pick off little worms from a safer distance?

Just spitballing. I'm leaning towards mandies from the sound of it. Wondered about the worms because my friends mostly have mage jobs in good shape.

Whatever BC you try, I think you will at first lose a few till everyone gets used to the mechanics.
Steaming sprouts can be very hard with a group of people who have no experience of it but I went with others and it went so smoothly.
PLD could be fighting main NM with melee while BRD who was sleeping the adds could go down if healer ran out of MP ect..
I think this was why most people went for RDM/WHM because of convert but WHM should be better for the higher level battles as you can sub either SCH or RDM.

Dam you, I want to try these battles again for nostalgia!
