Well it fits, they finished going through all the "We want more FFVII" sites, then the "We want more FFX" stuff with Dissida and the rerelease, now they're finally getting to FFXI requests from 11 years ago. Just 5 more years and the game will actually be pretty balanced.

I notice the clock for the JP version shows the kanji of the day of week over the color blob? Dayum that's nice... for the JPs. You know it's not going in the NA version. Some of those colors are a bit hard to recognize against the background of whatever is there. (I have partial color blindness, which means that for instance some browns look the same to me that other people could tell apart.)

Flashy things for mining points? Holy crap, sure was annoying to tab spam to find them.

Open the stupid doors in Halvung? Hell yes, every time we get a besieged prisoner in that one pod of cells behind the doors, wtf were you even thinking, SE? I'm even okay with it being an item you have to farm every time, not a "free pass forever" KI like all the rest, as long as it's not like the key in Temple Ugly where most of the mobs that drop it are behind the door.

Not sure I like this stack numbers over icons thing. While it's a cool way to reuse some space (who really cares about those tiny icons anyhow?), it makes it harder to read the numbers, and it can be hard enough to read the number on your MP bar as it is. But it means they don't have to rename a dozen long ore names, I guess, so there's that.

I guess they finally got that "stuff that needs to be fixed in FFXI" list back from the FFXIV people. Now if they can just trade it for the "stuff that works great in FFXI so don't change it" list...

I'm really pretty happy with this. I play when my baby sleeps, so organized events are not an option. I've only done Skirmish twice so I have no clue how to even go about it solo. I assume just take my MNK/DNC and go to town.

This is going to be a nice one..

Anyway, when Matusi took over, I said to friends that Tanuka left a pile of manure in the office and he's having to clean it out, b/c he's buried in it. (See: Back to The Future if you don't know what i mean)

By that, I meant the complaints and requests that we've made over the years, not to mention things Tanuka refused to fix/add that were long requested, have been piling up. Now, finally we are being heard and hopefully FFXI will be a better game b/c of it. ^^ This TP Party like addition, not to mention ther changes in mining points, proly is the first in a lot of nice things. ^^

You also have to remember quite a lot of the time frame between 2006 > 2010 was focused toward FFXIV, so even if they wanted to they more than likely couldn't have gotten around to anything and sticking to a strict content rollout, now that XIV is release and relaunched, they can go back and focus on everything.

That's the bad thing with something conflicting like XIV and XI, one of them have to suffer but sadly both games ended up suffering due to Wada wanting to try to beat out cataclysm and released XIV unreleased. Hell Abyssea came about to try to tide people over with "fast and easy content" while they pushed out XIV.

Yeah, i guess you can do that, but it's dumb. It's also more annoying with vana'diel days, with wind/water and even worse, light/lightning having the same letter.

[dev1215] Synthesis Additions and Adjustments

  • Synthesis kits will be introduced to make the crafting process easier than ever.

  • Purchasing Kits
Kits may be purchased at their respective guilds. They will never go out of stock and their price will not fluctuate.

  • Using the Kits
All players need in order to undergo synthesis are these kits and their corresponding crystals.
While unsuccessful attempts will render the kits lost to oblivion, successful attempts will award players with normal-quality versions of the described items. Use of these kits will not change the way in which players' synthesis skills increase.

All pertinent information, such as the required skill level, crystal type, and the item that will be obtained upon successful synthesis, is described in the kits' help text.
Screenshot

* While it is possible to use special crystals such as inferno crystals and torrent crystals with these kits, players will not be able to inscribe their signature upon the items they craft.

  • Synthesis materials will be added to the list of guild vendors' wares.
The materials will never go out of stock, nor will their prices fluctuate. Furthermore, more of them will become available as players' craft ranks rise.

  • Guilds will no longer close on certain days.

  • A bevy of synthesis materials—such as ore, logs, and hides—will be made stackable.

  • High-quality versions of the following items will be introduced.
Swirling Broth / Shimmering Broth / Spicy Broth / Salubrious Broth / Fizzy Broth
* The familiars called forth with these items will be capped at level 119.

  • Employing lightning crystals to desynthesize shall shells and istiridye will soon yield the following items.

                Pre-adjustment Post-adjustment
Normal Quality	Pebble Pearl
High Quality	Pearl Black Pearl
High Quality 2	Black Pearl	Black Pearl
High Quality 3	Black Pearl	Black Pearl

  • The following command has been introduced.
/lastsynth [subcommand]
Allows you to perform synthesize again
using the same type of materials expended
in your last attempt.
>>Subcommands:
check View the latest recipe you used.
Performs synthesis if no subcommand is specified.
  • Note
In order to execute this command, players must have the appropriate items in their inventory.

This could give synthing the very boost that it needs. Now if they could make skill ups easier and making synthing profitable all around, that'd be a total win.

Profit, at least for non-consumables, won't be reliably had as long as the best gear is forever dropped or bought by points. Basically the same problem XIV is going through with its economy. Overall, I see this more as spam synthing for your shihei or food needs easier. :/

I see it also as a easy way to repeat a skillup for skilling too..Right now I've been bumming ebony logs off ls mates and friends so I could skill woodworking on Skif. (If I can get beech logs that helps too. Been doing that b/c I needed a way to fix a lu shang's and like bleep I'd delevel my cooking.)

It's the same synth; ebony poles..for quite a few levels, but mats are hard to get. (I'll be glad when they make higher synth kits for this reason!) I mean to add the kits also to my cooking guide if they're reasonable. Those could be a boon for people who hate to farm.

Dat Synthesis Improvement.

Wow.

I just... don't know what to say about that.

Can you imagine if they had done this back during, say, CoP when the game was at its heyday? That woulda been awesome. Well I guess now I might stand a chance to actually get some of my crafts up. Who knows maybe my main character who has goldsmithing 51 might finally get up to whatever the cap of "alt crafts" is these days. lol.

Now we just need a "you get more than just pebbles out of mining" and "helm tools don't break as often" if they didn't already do that.

EDIT: The only other thing I could ever really think to ask for, is for us to stop failing recipes that we're 10+ levels over.

The question is, how much are those kits going to cost? I'm sure they still want it to be better to get things from other players, so they can't be too cheap. (Among other reasons.)

Also, what's so special about pearls? It's not that I'm complaining, it's just that I don't care. Why is there a need to make these particular fancy gems more common that doesn't apply to all the other fancy gems?

I wish they'd put in HQ versions of some of the capped-at-99 pet broths...
