Adoulin & SteamFollow

Completely edited, Just 1 question!

I have FFXI fully installed & updated & working.

I play through Steam

Steam don't sell Adoulin separate, they sell it as a full seekers ultimate addition that contains everything.

Can I just buy that and carry on using my current ffxi or would it cause problems? Meaning, will I have to completely un-install FFXI before buying the seekers addition meaning another day of updating/patching.

Thank you if anyone can answer that question.

Yes. You can buy it, install it from Steam, uninstall or not bother using Steam, and everything'll be fine and run as normal.

Steam has a habit of trying to update FFXI if you boot it from Steam, which restores it to the install they keep backed up, which isn't good. I'm not sure if it still does it, but it can be disabled inside Steam if you insist on using the Steam shortcut for it. Steam.

Inputting the code you get will give you the content id thingy for Seekers, but you'll still have to SOA to get it to work. Everything's the same, but it's in your steamapps folder instead of C:\Program files\Squeenie. You can move the install, or accept having to use a desktop shortcut that goes into C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\FFXIPAL. The game's exactly the same, it's just in a dodgy location.

Thx for reply;

I already have the game through Steam;

So I will have to uninstall ffxi if I buy the seekers edition? Which means I will have to go through the day of updating again?

Just need to clarify it, I'd rather have it so I can buy the seekers edition, enter the code or load up through steam and just carry on as usual. I only really ask this as i'm obviously writing macro's atm and I can't afford to buy the seekers edition for another 10days. Until then Im just happy getting to know the game again, leveling jobs up from 90-99 and earning a tonne of merit points.

Rename or move your current folder somewhere. Install Seekers. You'll have two copies of FFXI, your old one, and the one with Seekers in it. Copy over the ROM, sound and mov folders from your old install into your new install (overwrite when prompted), and boot your new install. If it works, and a patch fixes whatever handful of files are different, copy over your macros, and you can delete your old install and play with the new Seekers install.

It shouldn't take long to actually patch, given that you've already got the most recent copies of the files, but that won't stop it from checking through each and every file, and that could take a while.
