Leveling w/ TrustsFollow

#1 Aug 24 2014 at 1:27 PM Rating: Good
Hello there.

My questions is where are the best places to level with your trusts for each 10 levels? More so 40-99. I'm back from a 7 year break so I don't know what anything is anymore.

If you are planning to level completely in the old areas I tend to check here for Grounds of Valor camps. (Indoor camps.)
These give you a specific group of mobs to target and give a rough guide what level you can be to complete the objective.
Although a lot of the time you can continue for a few levels after the recommended level needed for the "page" to be completed.

You can also gain exp at the same time by taking part in records of Eminence or RoE for short.
Completing GoV and RoE tasks together will beef up your exp pretty fast at the same time as earning "sparks" towards buying new gear as you go.
A lot of the time you will probably be going after EP mobs and decide not to target GoV mobs and adopt a "kill all" style to gain exp fast. Sometimes I find this can be better but you might want to try both to see what's best for you.

Also check campsitarus for refrence to old campsites but it might be worth mentioning that they have changed mob levels and placement in dungeon areas.
The mobs listed in there are aimed at parties with mobs /check at VT-IT for their respective levels.
(Using the GoV/FoV tome lists might be a better guide though.)

Alternatively you might set up a worm party in Abyssea from lvl 30-99 but I don't see many of those at the moment.
I think it has something to do with the time I play though.

Edit: added link for Field's of Valor for outdoor camps.

Pretty much what he said, but do keep in mind mob families and be on the lookout for IT+++ to 75 mobs in random lowbie areas, lol.

You said you played 7 years ago, just keep in mind that some mob families make poor XP mobs for various reasons, and I dunno about anyone else here, but there's a few level gaps where your choices involve those said "yucky" mobs nobody wanted to XP on, ever.

At Lv85+, this is a non-issue as everything dies fast and easy, but closer to the 40s, it will make a difference.

Also worth noting, is if you have the choice, doing GoV 10 levels under or having to do FoV at your level, do GoV instead. GoV increases XP every time you complete a regime until you hit the cap. Usually this is WAY better XP than you would have gotten from the piddly FoV (which usually gives less than GoV started at).

This is especially true at 80+, fighting EPs and chaining GoV pages is much faster than struggling with EM-T mobs. The piddly 50-80xp difference per kill doesn't mean anything if you can complete two GoV pages in the time it takes you to complete one at the other camp.

Also, don't forget about the Emperor Band and Warp Rings! Not sure if you heard about them yet (I can't remember when Emperor Band was introduced), but they are found on the Conquest Point Vendor under "Common Items (All Ranks)". Emperor Band can be recharged by trading it to that NPC once per IRL week.

EDIT: Also, keep in mind that any mob that is aggressive to a Lv75 is still aggressive at Lv99 even though it can't hurt you whatsoever. This means they will also give XP and will qualify for GoV training regimes. Some good camps I found, later level:

1). Zeruhn Mines (Bats/Crabs, need Acid Bolts or Dispel). Nothing links, nothing aggros, perfect camp if you don't use a Trust with AoE Attacks. Pretty much where you should be going at 75.
2). Labyrinth of Onzozo, Ose's Room: Torama/Manticores. Both aggro, but there are several safe places and if you kill them in order you should not have trouble with aggro whatsoever. IIRC, this is late 70s to mid 80s.
3). Maze of Shakrami. Remember this place? There's Lv85-ish crawlers (don't forget Acid Bolts/dispel!) and Bats. Crawlers Link, Bat's don't, no aggressive mobs. This can last you clear to 99. This is near the one-way drop off leading to Buburimu, near the Geomagnetic Fount in the southeastern part of Map 1.
4). Fei'yin. Pots/Bats. Pots aggro to magic (your trusts cannot aggro mobs thankfully), bats do not link or aggro. This is nice if you don't have Lv99 sparks gear yet. Also an awesome place to get a ton of pot shards if you need to skill alchemy lol. The drop rate is just insane. This camp is near the entrance to the BCNM room.
5). Gustav Tunnel. THE place to go for solo merits! At Lv99 with Sparks Gear, these mobs are insanely easy to kill and give 300-650xp per and the GoV caps at ~4600 IIRC which is half a merit alone. Getting 10 merits in an hour and a half is not uncommon, when combined with RoE and a job that uses a 2H weapon (every swing gives credit for 500+ damage RoE quest).
6). Dangruf Wadi: Monkeys/Crabs. Not recommended, but can be done in mid-90s. Monkeys hit incredibly hard; highly recommend using Trion to tank them. Crabs link, so pull carefully. The room is at the extreme north end of the map, watch out for high level goblins on the way.

1-10 newbie area (use repeating fov + roe pages)
10-17 dem/mea/holla zones (use repeating fov/roe pages) I prefer lathiene on grass fungar
17-40 gusgen mines (skeleton GoV page + Roe pages, switch from skeleton -> ghoul -> wrights-> gasts), by the time your 30, you should have tons of prowess and it should plow right through the new mobs

30-35 middle delkfoot if you get bored
35-40 korroloka tunnle gigas page
40-65 crawlers nest(multiple pages)
55-65 bloodsuckers in bostaunix
65-70 blood suckers again, different area this time
70-75 upper delkfoot (6 gigas page

75-85 gustav tunnle pages
90-99 rangemont pass (bats/hovering occuli page)

sub 75 id suggest fov instead of gov, reason why is that roe exp for indoor rewards are 100 and outdoor multiple hundreds, add that to pages and speed killing eps wins lower than 75 imo. for example cape terrigan, fov page 1 lizzies and rabbits, kill everything that moves at 84 and exps rolls in without being overcamped. i am doing this levelling my RUN rather than aby just because, and the outdoor thing ive been doing with my mule, 50 dnc 45 mnk 42 war atm

As long as you are doing pages it really doesnt matter imho, they both auto repeat now. GoV zones tend to have smaller RoE rewards, but higher mob densities/faster respawn and some camps are just better to level at. The main draw of GoV is the prowess. Acc/Atk/haste/treasure hunter/caskets/skill ups, if you are over geared and already fully skilled then yeah, you probably would be fine just doing FoV.

If you need skill ups, are doing this mostly naked (1-50 i dont wear any gear other than a weapon, rajas ring, warp ring), or just want the increased power (faster kills) gov is gonna win hands down.

Also how is cape terigan at 84 an example of a lower than 75 leveling? If you are gonna say do outdoors, I would suggest you at least give a substitute for gusgen from 15-30, because frankly it takes like an hour and i doubt there is any other location that would be as fast/faster without a pl.

RoE:
earth crystal (all skeletons)
dark crystal (the dogs you will have to kill anyways cause they are next to all the ghouls, can also kill fungar for dark crystals if your waiting on respawn as they are the same lvl as ghouls)
kill 200
conflict gusgen
*total healing if you havent already finished it (and just use /dnc if your a melee, you'd be surprised how fast a trust runs out of mp, and a waltz here and there adds up fast)

my 84 run example was just showing even at that level its viable, and its no hassle as i have to break away cos of my ill other half. gusgen is probably optimal but most people migrate to optimal areas

Don't forget that not only do GoV pages give more than FoV, but also GoV increases its rewards every time you complete a page, AND a lot of times, they ask for less mobs per page.

For example, Korroloka Tunnel asks you to kill 6 Gigas. It gives you 1030 on the first completion, and it will continue to increase each completion until you cap it out at 2060. That's Lv35-37.

Compare that to the Field Manual in Yhoator Jungle, 35-39 it wants you to kill 5 Goblins and 3 Lizards for only 840XP.

2 levels higher, and it gives you almost 200xp less on the FIRST completion, let alone when you cap it (1200 less) AND it wants you to kill two MORE mobs per page.

Grounds is hands down better than Field for the most part - tho some grounds pages are pretty moronic or on very limited mobs. Also the brown chests drop items which are often still quite good/sell for a decent amount.

Best places to level are where you can kill ep mobs really fast, since you are doing the quests and getting rewards the faster you kill that's how you do it.

There's definitely more to it than just "GoV is better than FoV".

Taking that Korroloka Tunnel gigas page as an example. In my experience it's just hard to find that many Gigas to kill there, especially since you've got to watch out for that obnoxious NM hanging out in the middle. (The RoE objective for that zone has a very high xp reward compared to most though, so I like some of it's other pages.)

Mob distribution and quantity, linking behavior, aggro concerns, obnoxious TP moves, convenience to other activities, useful drops, competition from other players, all of it can make one area preferable to another. Zone familiarity can make a big difference too. If you already have a sense of when aggressive mobs will have repopped and where they're likely to wander, it's much easier to work around them.

That said, I do tend to use mostly GoV zones at 30+, but it's not always a straightforward decision.

~sleepygirl, given a choice, will always go somewhere other than that worthless pit north of Bastok...
(There's always a choice.)
