hello all,
I have been having this problem for about a week, the customer support help has been non existant and ive been paying square enix for nothing for the whole week now. when I start playonline viewer I put in my info and my play online password. then Im asked for my square enix password. I put in the exact one I use for their website(which I have updated several times) and it says wrong id or password every time. I know my id is correct as I got it directly from the website. ive checked and double checked the case of the letters and numbers. please help it would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Will do my best to help with the login as it is odd with FFXI, FFXIV was much better at their login screen.
Ok the first thing with settings is:
Member Name: This is just the name you want to call that specific login. Doesn't matter what you call it.
Next
PlayOnline ID: This is the ID that you can get from the website after logging in click on FFXI and it will be the 4 letter/4number combo (i.e. TWEF1090). Don't confuse this one with the Square Enix ID to login to your website account. This maybe given during account creation or with your CD keys too, I can't remember as it has been a long time since I registered. I just know for sure it is also on the website under FFXI account management.
Next
PlayOnline Password: This is the password for PlayOnline, it should of been made when you were setting up the account. It is not your Square Enix password for the website.
Next (You can setup a Member Password for the Member Name, just so you can login that one or extra security, has nothing to do with PlayOnline ID/PW or Square Enix website/account.)
Square Enix ID: This is your Square Enix website/Account name.
Next
Check if you use the One-Time password (authenticator).
Hit Ok and it will save. Then just login with your Square Enix website/account password. You will no longer use your PlayOnline ID/Password after it is saved there.
It will be all SE ID/PW.

I appreciate the help and the detailed explainations. I have followed these instructions and still recive the invalid password error
Ok, well. I'm not sure how it works now, but you use to have to transfer your PlayOnline account to a Square Enix account. I'm not sure if this is still something that has to be done, as I have had mine quite a long while. But it is something worth looking into.

I would perhaps try to change your PlayOnline password. To do that, go to Square Enix account management, click on FFXI, go to Options List and scroll all the way down, you will see a Update PlayOnline Password. I would try that and see if it helps any. Remember again, your PlayOnline password is not your SE account password. Though I guess you could make them one in the same so it is easy to remember. But after it is put into account login settings on the PoL viewer it really isn't ever needed again. Or at least nothing I have found.
