None. This game is pretty much dead

yeah it's so dead that they are currently doing monthly updates, which is more often than they did when the game was in its prime. If you're still on siren send a tell to finathlon, hes the leader of seemingly like the only big english speaking linkshell on the server. my char is Arnina but im not on all that often.

Asura has a good(ish) population.

You might just be in the wrong city though. Many folks are in Adoulin now.

Back in the days (and today) when most developers who ran MMOs updated every 2 - 4 months or year-2 years+? XI has always been on a 2-3 month update cycle, sometimes 4 but the way the content worked in XI everything added stayed relevant so the cycle wasn't "terrible" since by then you know you're in for a treat, unlike MMOs now (including XIV) where an update negates most previous content and you already blow through new content within a few days and forced to grind obsolete content.

So quite honestly I like how XI has handled its content back in the day and even now compared to running obsolete content continually as that would be all that's left after a day.

Just out of curiosity how many people are typically logged into a server at any one time nowadays?

Also what's the deal with Alter Egos? They look interesting, I came back very briefly a few years ago, but by that time all my old friends had quit and I spent most of my time grinding away solo trying to play catch up, I got bored very quickly and quit soon after.

I pretty much left for XIV when it became that because I didn't have the right relic (Bow) or the right job (ageis pld, ranger/bow sam, stun sch or Whm) and living in the pacific. I was pretty much locked out of puging any content past second delve on forward or being able to join a content LS (not the right job/relic). Then theres the rng on crafting skill ups and harvesting the mats to skill on. Either way unless they do a complete engine upgrade and streamline gameplay to modern standards. I'd probably just check back in once in a while to see most folks standing around. Lord knows if anyone really bothered to get the Adoulin relic-ish weapon for geo or Run fully unlocked given the last time I saw the HQ Bayld drop rate, or how silent and in the click the delve groups were.

Bahamut is around 600-630 in the afternoons, NA time. If you're not in Aldouin or Jeuno, it will feel as though you're the only one in the game.

Alter egos, also known as Trusts are similar to Adventuring Fellows, except you can have trusts out forever. You can bring them on a few missions, and even the associated BCNMs, though I'm not sure how effective they are in mission BCs.

Trusts in any content under level 100 are basically just win more additions.

I'm also on Bahamut and the only thing I even bother to do these days is log in for login points just to never cash them in at the end of the campaign. They added linkshell NPCs that allow LS leaders to store pearls with them for people to just grab. I have joined about a dozen and not one of them has done anything ever. There are still a few holdouts that are trying to get stuff done, but mostly it is dead.

Eh, they are on a slower server, and overly negative. Asura gets over 1000 regularly, and there are lots of active linkshells around. We just heard today that the final storyline content is going to be released this year, so in a way, the game is on its last legs, but they plan to continue running it. If you haven't done the story, I think this year is going to be a pretty fun time to play. Also trusts are awesome, and they make catching up or leveling subs or doing missions more fun, even when they don't directly help, they are nice to have around.

In fact, I am going to resub today to work on those storylines now.

Cheers,

Olor

I spoke the truth only for my server.

As for linkshell NPCs, doesn't matter if the server was still bustling with 4000 regular like before. For me the experience would be no different, hence I opted to stay out of linkshells in this post-75 era. Had enough of that~
