Returned recently, and going to sound like an idiot, but how do you access these 'gifts'? I don't see a menu for them, and can't find any information on them apart from that they exist. Is there a quest? Gear requirement?

Gifts are basically additional "job traits" that are automatically earned for a job by spending job points on it. There's nothing you have to do besides that to get them.

Also, to see a list of gifts, you just press left/right on a job point menu

Goddammit, I tossed four of my gorgets and belts (one from each LV2 skillchain element, because almost every WS worth using had a LV2 skillchain element, meaning you just needed one gorget from each LV2 to be able to cover them all) a looooooong time ago. Looks like I have a little project in store for me in getting them all back.

Seeing reports that the Obi is forcing negative aspects on spells if conditions are met. So Fire on Watersday/Weather will gimp it. Upgrade with this in mind.

The original obis worked like that too (in that they would also ensure damage decreases along with damage increases) so that's not too surprising.

Yeah. Chatoyant didn't adopt this behavior when it came about, though. Figure it better people to know, in any event, should they opt to favor a lesser, but consistent alternative.

But if you cast something like Ice with Ice weather with Hyorin Obi on Firesday, you would have a 100% chance of boost and a 20% chance of reduction. With the new obi it'd be like having Karin and Hyorin Obi both equipped simultaneously so I'd assume it's 100% chance of boost and 100% chance of reduction. This would be a net negative compared to using the 8 obis optimally.

No you still have 100% chance of getting both the benefit from day and the penalty from weather with the single obis.

I had never really considered it before that using the Obi on the right day but the wrong weather or vice versa was negatory. I question now if I would still do it though rather than risk a negative proc vs. a positive proc to add a MAB belt.

Yeah, but the ice obi functions strictly for Iceday/ice weather, meaning that in his example, the ice weather would always kick in and grant the 100% boost to ice, but that Firesday would not be affected and only have a chance to weaken ice.

Whereas with the combined obi, both the ice weather and Firesday would kick in, canceling each other out.

The way I understood it, if you used the Hyorin Obi for an Ice Spell on Fireday, you would get the penalty for casting Ice on Fire 100% of the time. The rainbow belt doesn't change that behaviour does it?

That isn't quite right (but is an easy mistake to make). The obis work strictly on the day/weather (making them 100% procs), not what spell you cast.

If it is Firesday, for instance, no obi other than the fire obi would have any effect, and in such a case it would make Fire spells get their boost 100% of the time and Blizzard spells get their penalty 100% of the time. The other obis do absolutely nothing on Firesday (assuming neutral weather).

In short, the penalty on Blizzard spells is due to mismatching the day, not the obi. The fire obi just makes the penalty 100%.
