SE has their E3 conference tomorrow at 9PDT. This clip is from the Sony press conference, and they also showed Hitman another SE title at the Sony Press conference, also they had Final Fantasy Worlds a spinoff game for PS4, and Vita at the Sony event.

Process of elimination wise tomorrow will probably have details on.
Kingdom Hearts
FF15
FF14 Expansion

They have a new (2015) trade mark titled (english translation) Three Kingdoms of Gods and Demons. So maybe something regarding that.

Possible they might talk about the mobile spinoff of FFXI, and the mobile port of FFXI.

They ~may~ hint at FFXI "ending", but i doubt that there is a remake in the plans yet the amount of work to modernize would likely amount to coding a whole new game. Id wager that would be something (if it were even a thought to SE at this point) that wouldn't be announced until next year at earliest when FFXI is more or less official over. (but i doubt a remake is even remotely being considered, considering they have a new, fairly popular and successful mmo in FFXIV.)

I might update this thread tomorrow after the SE conference...probably not though.

My earlier post was more a jab at those who think SE should just update/remake XI despite their current plans and the reality of the current MMO scene on the whole, in particular XIV being their present flagship. I just got done going through a "classic server" thread over there with some people riding hard on the nostalgia goggles with a side of not understanding how the current private scene works. tl;dr of 20+ some pages is that you have some people who think it'd be easy and cheap to do, others who realize it would probably hurt the current game overall. There are a couple points I would bring up over there if still subbed that no one covered, but it's honestly kind of pointless with Maintenance Mode looming.

The copyright kinda sounds like a Dragon Quest title, maybe even an expansion to the JP only MMO they have going. The SE panel may touch on the XI mobile, but I wouldn't expect anything about the current version. Time to XIV and XV is kind of a given. Anything on KH would probably be the only real surprise, but at the same time, people are wanting it.

Yep, this is huge news. It's kind of funny, I was just replaying FF7 and finally beating Crisis Core (always get burned out halfway through for some reason) when I heard about this.

I really hope they stay true to the originals battle system and don't add flashy extra stuff just because they can. There was simplicity in it and that was a good thing.

While most people bash the story as being over rated, I feel that it was well done as well as the lore behind everything making it feel like a more extensive world.

I was more excited about this than Fallout 4.

To be honest, it's a good time to fix the lacking parts of the story and, in some parts, get around the translation issues of yesteryear. Sure, some purists will *****, but whatcha gonna do? Figure there'll be enough rage of they choose Aerith over Aeris for her name as is.

From SE today
Just Cause 3
Dragon Quest Heroes (seems like an action brawler where you mix it up with famous dragon quest folks?)
Kingdom Hearts 3
Some Kingdom Hearts Mobile Game (this actually might be what i think Dragon Quest Heroes is, IDR but i think DQ was for PS4/XBONE)
FF7 teaser (ps4 first)
PC Version of FF7 available for PS4/Xbox this winter, Also being made for mobile this summer I think.
World of Final Fantasy
New Tomb Raider (looks really freaking nice)
Tomb Raider Go (mobile)
New Dues EX(never played them so dunno if its cool or not)
New Hitman (actually sounds kind of cool)
FF14 Expack teaser
FF15 Teaser
Bunch of other Teasers
New Star Ocean
New Game Series produced by new studio "Tokyo RPG" a division of SE committed to JRPG development. (game looks nice)
Something was coming to NA, dont remember not rewatching to find out.
Nothing on FFXI, or the spinoff mobile game.

In short, a lot of stuff, worth reading about i think if you are a fan of any of those series titles. I think the new game was called Nier, or that could just be the project title. I dunno, they didn't say to much about it, just a little teaser vid, World of Final Fantasy seems meh, very cartoonish and gameplay was hard to get a feel of from the teaser.

Thats all i remember.

I would agree, big difference though to me in regards to FF7 vs FFXI.

XI was developed over time, the original story took forever to enjoy. Not forgetting the fact it's an MMO and took forever to move from A to B for some more story, wait 1 game day to continue, wait 1 RL day to continue, wait for patch/update/expansion to continue.... UGH..

You couldn't enjoy the story from beginning to end like you can Single Player.

With FF7 it touched a lot of people and as I said in another post on the XIV forum, it's the one game SE kept being pestered over ... FF7? FF7? FF7?

Every time there was another release of FF7 to a new platform or slight updated, Remake where is it? Every time they created a new FF game, FF7 where is it? The second they gave us FFX HD again it came out, FF7?

It is a massive project and doing it properly was always going to take time. Not as much as a brand new game because the CORE story, Music, Characters and simple things like Names of cities/places/people is all there. Course they would have to review everything and agree on what to take forward, what to alter.

Looking at the teaser it certainly feels like the essence of FF7 is there and it feels like a little more gritty but that to me is perfect. The teaser I can't stress was better than I ever hoped for. They gave the little hints of the trains, the park, the helicopter, the buildings - not forgetting the real CITY feeling of huge skyscrapers. Plus Cloud and Barrett. They also used the music from Advent Children.
I believe SE can make this right and I honestly wouldn't complain if they made slight alterations.

I'd err toward FF7r being closer to a totally new game than one simply spruced up. It's a similar reason to why I have said such wouldn't happen for XI, really. In XI's case, the best we could hope for is higher resolution textures to fit over the wire meshes we have now. Some, however, assert that things should be taken further and that basically all zones can be redone, cutscenes, etc.. What they don't understand is that involves fiddling with the meshes/skeletons to increase polygon counts, crudely translating to more potential fluidity or a "higher definition" feel. That, in effect, is remaking the whole game. It only seems more "viable" to do this from the mistaken perspective for XI because it's more modern than VII. Higher resolution textures on the blocky, low polygon models wouldn't really make things better. There's also the fact that most backgrounds in VII were seriously just flat pictures we ran over, only with a bit of layering magic here and there. So, while I wouldn't be surprised to see fixed camera positioning in the remake, the odds of assets being 2D seems highly unlikely... which also leaves room for a free-roaming camera for a mix of sightseeing/item-hunting purposes.

From the creative standpoint, it's best to look at the PSX version as a storyboard for the remake. For those unfamiliar with the term, think of it as breaking up a 24 minute TV show into still images every 10 seconds. The goal is to then connect the dots between those images, only in this case, fleshing out the game. Realistically, we could break the game down into scenes/acts/discs, which is just a broader form of storyboarding. Depending on how faithful they are to some of the lesser important mini-games, this could mean something like the bike chase just being an FMV instead of playable since, in large part, creating all the assets to be workable in play form is a lot more expensive now than it was then. Things like this are probably what the purists will dread most. But we'll see. The total lack of any hinted release tells me we're still 2-3 years off.

The game was first released January 31, 1997 in Japan. If this is a 20 year anniversary release, as some have suggested, then early 2017 or maybe very late 2016 at the earliest.
