Coming back for a little bit, maybe longer. Trusts question.Follow

Good day, peoples.

Some questions about what has changed since I played last... I've read the sticky, but it doesn't look like it has been updated since 2009 or so.

When I quit last time I didn't delete my character(s), but I did cancel my subscription so my characters should still be around, right?

The last time I played I was able to do the quest line for the Adventuring Fellow, so I don't know what Trusts really are? I suspect they are NPCs that follow you around and help you fight?
Do they stay with you for a certain length of time per day?

Can you actually use them to solo level?

Are you able to get certain Trust NPCs (do their quests) with a lower level (20-30ish) character?

How difficult is it to get the EXP rings?

I will probably not be a hardcore player, but I do want to be able to do stuff and just have fun like I use to way back when...

Thanks for any answers you can give.

Yes.

Trusts are similar to fellows but they actually take up party slots, they do follow you and fight until they're dismissed or killed. They don't level the same way so you would have to resummon them to match your level.

Some trusts require mission or different quests completed for them, rank6 for most nation related trusts, SE has been rotating different trusts in their seasonal campaigns, added some in the Records of Eminence tutorial under basic and one in intermediate, and in login campaigns.

The 1/1 2hr exp ring echad ring might be available soon with the anniversary event coming up, kupofried ring can be easy depending on if you can find a mog tablet, there's a crafted ring but prices vary on servers, another ring currently comes from escha caskets/login campaign points/ambuscade hallmarks. You get a free voucher for a conquest points ring, if you do the starter questline which involves eating food, using a ws, checking ah, and getting a telepoint.

Trusts are way better than adventuring fellows. There is no exp. penalty and you can have up to 5 (a complete party). I think level 5 is the minimum level and you can basically get all the necessary jobs (whm, blm, dd, etc.) even at very low levels. There are a lot of different trusts available, they each have a specific job/subjob, some have quests, mission completion requirements, etc. But you won't need to worry about any of that until you already have a full party-worth, plus some. Since there are so many different trusts, and since they are all somewhat unique, there are a huge # of different combinations - which does add a certain fun element of exploring all the different combination of jobs to make up your party. You can still party-up with real players, but between levels 1-99 there isn't much of that because most players don't want to invest the time looking for parties when trusts are always an alternative. Also, unlike the adventuring fellows, the trusts stay out with you for the duration (until you zone) and don't disappear after a fixed time or fixed # of kills.

The trusts are really pretty good for the low levels - at max level they aren't exactly great, but you'll have lots of levels before you'll have to deal with that. There is an ongoing log-in bonus campaign that will provide you with log-in points that you'll be able to buy experience rings, plus you at lower levels you can still buy experience rings from the gate guard for conquest points.

You'll also discover there is a way of accumulating "sparks" which you get for killing certain #s of mobs. You pick an objective, kill the designated # of mobs of that variety, accumulate sparks which you can then use to buy exp rings, equipment, etc.

Leveling is crazy-easy, they really want to make it much more painless to get to level 99 so that you can play with the big boys. The time-consuming stuff will be the level-break stuff and all the typical stuff you had to go through to reach certain thresholds.

Welcome back!

Solo leveling only really feels like a drag between like 80-99, and I attribute that more to there not really being any laid back book camps with minimal running between mobs, minimal aggro concerns (elementals being an offender for casters), and ideally not asking for multiple mob kills. Trusts probably shine best playing more supportive roles like WHM and BRD, but the tanks have their place from time to time, too. Honestly, they allow us to level somewhat differently than what might've been expected during the VT/IT grind days. If you can find some bored friends, though, getting drug along in some Adoulin or Escha grinding would probably be as close as we'd get to the Dom Ops days of Abyssea.

Anyway, one of your primary objectives should be to try to work on RoV stuff as you can. After you break level caps and such, anyway. You'll then want to try and work through the Adoulin zones to collect both telepoints and JP bonuses from RoE objectives for Reives. Admittedly, fresh players may have a rough go of this once they get to Ra'Khaznar or however the heck it's spelled. Clearing mission/expansion lines will also give you some bonuses here. So, if you had like everything through WotG done, could be a good way to get some EXP on your first-to-99 just by clicking stuff in your MH.
