November Version Update Table

Well met, adventurers! Matsui here with your monthly rundown.

November is the eleventh month of the year—a predictably auspicious time for FINAL FANTASY XI. This month we’ve got a new type of battle content to unveil that we’ve been working on since last year!

The title of this content is Dynamis-Dread. This all-new type of Dynamis content requires a keen eye toward strategy, and we expect the more battle savvy among you will have a lot to sink your teeth into. The first foray into this brand-new Dynamis takes place in San d’Oria, and while the environment will be familiar, battles play out completely differently. There are new gimmicks, new spoils, and so much more. As alluded to above, this is only the first of several that we have planned, and we promise to keep creating even more challenging content to keep you on your toes!

For Ambuscade, we’ve whipped up a dvergr kerfuffle that you might want to “read” up on before you step inside. So pull up a chair, get on your glasses, find the closest thing that could potentially function as a bookmark and start cracking open (cracking apart?) some tomes! Meanwhile, this month’s Expert Ambuscade features a return of the popular poroggo battle, so get ready to hop to it!

We’ve also got a quality-of-life adjustment for the escutcheon questline planned, making it possible to select either the crystal or the material when using the Synthesis Focuser II. This adjustment came about thanks to your earnest feedback on the forums, and we would like to thank you, as always, for your wonderful suggestions.

Below is the usual list of what to expect in November. As always, last-minute issues may arise that cause us to put some of these on the back burner for now, but we’re doing our best to make sure as much makes it into November as possible.

How is Dynamis-Divergence?

Whats it like?

sounds like a new zone?

It has me thinking of coming back to the game.

Is it solo-able?

Sound like a good way to upgrade gear.

It is, honestly, very similar to the original dynamis. Currently, we can access only Southern San d'Oria, and it plays very much like the original; an instanced battlefield with statues wandering around. Hit the statues and orcish mobs appear. It is explicitly not soloable: you need a minimum of three to enter. And the mobs are pretty tough, most jobs would be hard pressed soloing one, let alone the group that spawns from any statue. At the very least, you'd need some aoe sleep to work through it in a small group.

But, if you miss some of the aspects of older content like that (i.e. you can't just force your way through all the lesser mobs, and need some planning and coordination) it is kind of nice.

Watched some videos and it looks almost like old school dynamis so we are back playing.
What stinks is we signed back up for FFXIV a couple of months ago and bought the expansion, we have hardly logged on though. We keep trying to force ourselves to like the game. The other thing is there really is nothing out there mmo wise. we tried a a few.

We both played FFXI for 7 years straight, Tesee a little while longer and then off and on after FFXIV started. We played FFXIV exclusively for several years. If FFXI can still add cool stuff with low population you would think FFXIV could. Thing is FFXI is not what it used to be either but still is fun. It feels like they are trying to force FFXIV on FFXI. Like augmenting equipment or I level or easy play, fast transportation etc.

There is some good stuff in FFXIV that could benefit FFXI though. There is allot about FFXIV we loved it is just so repetitive. There really is no benefit to do anything.

I love how in FFXI pretty much every equipment set has a upgrade path too 119.

Eh, not to disrespect your opinions or anything, but you talk about things like fast-travel like it is bad...

Do you really gain anything out of taking 30+ minutes to do a quest, where 25 of those minutes were spent riding a chocobo/airship/whatever?

As far as I-Level play... it's nice to not have to pound on the same enemy for 5+ minutes before you finally kill the stupid thing... I think that's one thing that they've improved upon quite a bit. Faster kills are more interesting (as long as they aren't TOO fast). I think for the most part, fighting relevant stuff your level offers reasonable challenge, but yet it doesn't feel like you're beating your head off a stone wall.

But still, FFXI is FFXI.... it's still a repetitive grind like all older MMOs are.

As for FFXIV, well... it's something you're meant to enjoy in small slices, instead of rushrushrush to the end. If you try to rush to the end you will get bored of it fast.
