Days of the week (in chronological order) with their theoretical geographical direction:

Firesday - Northwest
Earthsday - South
Watersday - West
Windsday - Southeast
Iceday - East
Lightningsday - Southwest
Lightsday - Northeast
Darksday - North

Which direction do I face to influence HQ/skillup with a:

Fire crystal: west or north
Earth crystal: Southeast or north
Water: Southwest or north
Wind: East or north
Ice: Northwest or north
Lightning: South or north
Light: Unsure...
Dark: Unsure...

Which direction do I face to influence success with a:

Fire crystal: Northwest or east
Earth crystal: South or southwest
Water: West or northwest
Wind: Southeast or south
Ice: East or southeast
Lightning: Southwest or west
Light: Unsure...
Dark: Unsure...

HQ Tiers:

It is theorized that a certain number of levels over the cap of a recipe will yield more HQ results. Here are commonly accepted figures:

Tier 0 = 0 to 10 levels above cap gives you 1-2% chance of HQ result.
Tier 1 = 11 to 30 levels above cap gives you about 10% chance of HQ result.
Tier 2 = 31 to 50 levels above cap gives you about 25% chance of HQ result.
Tier 3 = 51 or more levels above cap gives you about 50% chance of HQ result.

Note that these above figures are only an estimation (and an average over time) so your mileage may vary. Another theory states that most HQ results are obtained during Lightsday/Darksday on new moon...

I was hoping for an offline program or something. I was actually working on one myself with C# and Winforms for all reciepes but I quit playing and stopped my project. Then I started playing again, but quit again. Meh, too bad it was probably only 40-50% done.

Very useful for guild point items:

Jehebbyo's Cookbooks -- very well done printable versions of synths. Extremely useful for a desk reference. I use the cooking one alllll the time.

Do you still have the source files? I could pick up where you left off depending on how you did it. What were you using to store the data, a database or .txt files?

I used comma separated text based files and parsed them based on the comma. I had Alchemy and Bonecraft fully formatted and was working on the others. The interface used C# and Winforms requiring the .Net Framework Version 2.0 or later. I started with an xls file to format then once formatting was over I'd save it as a comma separated list.

I tend to never toss away my works. I could finish the interface and get help formatting the other lists. lol

Edit: I take that back that was the first interface version. The latest interface uses XLS to Database Data Binding in a clean easy to use interface. I'll get some screenshots and post them.

Okay, I got a couple of Screen Shots here.

First.
Second.

These show very little actually. The main program is MDI based, and each child is a Record Set Display of the guild. Only the Alchemy is functional in the program as it's the one I was using while designing the interface. The File Menu as you can see in the second Screen Shot show's Close Alchemy as it is the currently active child window. This is of course redundant but a good design for those that like to see that sort of stuff in the File Menu.

The Guild and Window Menus are similar but very different. The Guild Menu creats a child window for the selected guild IFF it doesn't exist yet. Where they both join together is that for an existing window child either menu can be used to bring it to the front.

The Help Menu currently only as About in it for info about the program. i.e. Version Number, Author, and data. The data I have is current of 06/22/2006.

I started this project as something useful to make while learning C#/Winforms. I know C++/MFC, C, and Win32API pretty darn well. I know little about Java though.

If you need any additional info just PM me.

That looks very interesting. I've been tossing around the idea of putting together a tool to use for common information like this, but it seems for the most part that there are a lot of online sites that do this at least marginally well.

I'll have to put a little more thought into it to come up with something truly unique that either combines the things that many sites do well individually to have it all in one place.

Wow. Great job. I'll be using this in the future. I hope the admins splice this into the stickies on the trade skill forum boards. Smiley: clap

Hi great info

Just a minor correction

Leathercraft secondary location is listed as Windurst Woods F-12 G-12
that location is Clothcraft Main Guild
