For Firefox users...Follow

#1 Sep 24 2006 at 10:45 PM Rating: Excellent
Hi there,

I have been working on a little project for about 3 months now. The FFXI Finder. The reason I'm posting, is I need suggestions on how to better the FFXI Finder.

You can download it from my site:
http://ffxi.insanephp.com/finder/

Or from the offical Firefox website:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/3081/

What's the FFXI Finder you ask? It's a decent toolbar for Firefox for the average FFXI player. It has access to every map for FFXI with a single click.

Having problems with an over-stuffed Bookmarks folder? Put them on the FFXI Finder.

It can also search for Items, Quests, Mobs, NPCs, and Maps on any site you want, including this one.

I'm currently adding on to the toolbar. I'm giving it the ability to have users create their own searches. Say for example, that you want to be able to quickly search FFXIAH.com, you can make the FFXI Finder do it.

To keep updated with the FFXI Finder, the current version (v2.2.0) has an Auto-Updater feature.

So, if you come up with an idea on how to better the toolbar, go to http://www.insanephp.com/smf/ (The FFXI Finder forums), and let me know how you want the toolbar to fit your needs.

I am going to bump this. Odd that I would see it after jumping onto the firefox bandwagon, only just this weekend. This is actually the first plug-in I added. Its pretty slick^^

This software does not contain any alien-mind-control code. Try it!

Its sponsored through Mozilla which leads me to believe its Malware free.

Installed! Pretty sweet! Quick jumping to maps and all that, nice work! As for suggestions, need to play with it more before I add any input.

Maybe a Moogle Icon for "Go to" instead of an ord Smiley: tongue

This is a tool that has been around for a while now, note the version is 2.2.0, I'm really glad this has come up again actually, as I had missed the chance to install it when it first arrived, and then it got buried among the pages.

Edit: Since you have intelligence and acknowledged a mistake, I see no reason to ridicule you. I save that privelage for the stupid people.

I got it off of the Firefox website. So far my laptop hasn't blown up. I am enjoying the item finder and such. I had larger concerns over firefox, than I did over this plug-in.

Yep. It was rather highly rated on the plug-in list, so I figured, if I was opening up my new laptop to Firefox, I might as well ***** the whole thing up in one download. Rate-up for realizing and admitting you were wrong :P

Don't like it.

Lot of reasons.

Take a look at other toolbars to see how to improve it.

Bah, of course I am using Firefox 2 Beta 2 so it will not let me install it, and I so wanted to commune with the brain thieving aliens. Now I am gonna have to wait. That makes me a sad panda :(

Very convenient. Thanks for making this. ^_^

A little off topic...what theme is that in the screenshot?
#14 Sep 25 2006 at 2:54 PM Rating: Good
Well, I'm glad to see it's useful to many people. The moogle icon idea isn't bad, it's just that I suck at graphic altering, so that might take me some time to do.

As for the extension not working on Firefox beta 2, I really wasn't planning on changing the extension to work with 2.0 untill later on. HOWEVER, if you really want to try it in Firefox beta 2, go to my forums (http://www.insanephp.com/smf/), leave me a post somewhere, and I will send you a special copy of the extension so it will work on 2.0.

And, the off-topic question, it's not just a theme for Firefox, I'm using StyleXP. The theme for that is Wisp.

Shameless bump... I think there are some things that you could add... And if you have issues with graphics editting, let me know if I can help.. I tend to doodle with that sort of stuff in my spare time..

Well, I've updated the toolbar once again. This time I've added in completly custom searches, and is now fully compatible with Firefox 2.0. Just thought I should let it be known.
