Im just going to edit this post with information as I find it. I dont take credit for discovering most of this though, but since so many ppl are checking this thread, ill keep it updated with the latest leaked info If i can.

Specifically you should be looking for the names and descriptions of the treasure coffer items for Salvage. Anything related to Salvage will help out greatly in planning a winning strat to "unlock the debilitating statuses" in the proper manner, as advised on playonline.

I hope they cant do this, at least give it a few days of people experimenting by actually doing it ingame so they can feed the strat to you like a baby. This dat minnig all the information is retarded in regards to "how to beat salvage".

Tell that to people that were the first to beat CoP, first to beat The Ashu Talif or among the first to beat anything where in-game dialogue helps. You don't like it? You're free to turn off your pc.

Datmining is extremely helpful. In a single day you can judge SE by if they added something for your job, or if they totally ignored you.

Personally I enjoy watching SE add full sets of gear that are "for mages" but completely forgetting SMN is not a +INT +fast cast +MAB +magic accuracy +haste job.

Yes please post any new Items you can find. SE Introduced new synthesis materials, and there is clearly new armor sets, so lets find them.

I think that learning what potions cure what in Salvage would be awsome. With a strict time limit and a fairly high price tag per person, it would be a huge benifit. I don't think it gives a huge advantage, but you could at least go in with some idea of who will be looking for what items first.

Man I can't wait to see some of the new equips... and please oh please put abjurations in Salvage! (and KC in the new chocograph digging lol)

He doesn't want a winning strat spoon fed, that would be impossible to come up with without being able to play. He just wants the in-game dialog that explains how it works in greater detail than the brief blurb on the POL site. Also, it would be helpful to know whether the potions you get to cure the Pathos effects will work on any one effect, all the effects a single person has, or if each potion is tied to each pathos, IE this potion only cures that pathos that doesn't let you wear a body piece, etc.

.dat mining can't tell you what level mobs are, where they pop, what stats or abilities they have, or what they drop. All of that is done server side, more or less. Well actually, maybe it can in theory tell you what abilities mobs have, since the animations and special effects are stored client side, but I haven't heard of anybody figuring it out.

Also, its only possible to figure out drops and rewards from Salvage by guessing. "This armor is rare so it can't be synthed. Also, since it rocks its probably from Salvage and not from a quest." etc. As such its impossible to know until we start winning whether or not existing items can also drop there ;)

Anyone find new missions in the .dat files? I checked where they usually are, but nothing new, the mission list ends with last Oct's new missions. If there are no new missions, needless to say, I'm very disapointed. Salvage better be kickass awesome.

I should say my POLUtils is acting wierd, so maybe they are there, but I was able to fine the new blu magic, so i dunno.

Missions aren't quoted in the update details so unless there was some glitch while mining, there are none new.

I really wanted to restrain myself but I can't. Are SMNs never happy? I'd say we've gotten a lot in the past couple of updates.. You asked for Summoning Magic Bonuses, you got those. You asked for split BPs, you got that, what more do you honestly need? Every time I go to SMN forums all I see is rants about how the game is biased against Summoners.

Relating to the topic, I am looking forward to Salvage... And somewhat happy about the Kraken, if they put it into a BC maybe I'll be able to get one :X lol.

Um... I meet all of those requirements, perhaps not the first, but waaay before there were strategies all over the internet, and we had no problems without mining data.

Don't take Mellowy's opinions as the opinions of all summoners. :/ I was happy with summoner even before split BPs, and I love it even more now. <3

Thanks a bunch for the pics of the armor sets. I was wondering if you found that heavier looking armor that was in the update pics as well. Also, anyone got new weapons/stats and usable jobs on armor yet? I know I'm jumpin' the gun a little but I'm so excited and I can't dig into 360's .dats lol.

It seems that Square have changed the file formats. Neither of my .dat utilities are working properly anymore. POLUtils can't find any data in the usual item records, and FFXI Tool can't display the information completely and has lost all icons.

I know, but those were the first ones I found, and it was easier to identify which race it when to because the textures were so small. ><
