Please post your POL error code and a brief description of what's happening. If, like apparently a lot of people like me, you're getting the POL-4001 code and perma-R0 in certain zones, try filling this out. Maybe we might be able to form a connection of something similar that is happening serverwide, I don't know. SE says it isn't a problem on their end, and while I don't believe them, maybe we may figure out an ISP or region range that is having issues. If you want to ***** and whine please do it in one of the other 30 threads on this subject, I just think we may be able to analyze it to see if there may be an ISP problem after all with everyone's help.

ERROR: POL-4001

ISP: Adelphia/Comcast crap
SERVER: Ramuh
ZONES R0ED IN:
Temple of Uggalepih
Ru'Lude Gardens

Error: FFXI-3113
Location: Massachusetts, USA
ISP: Comcast

I can't even get into the character selection screen. I get through the FMV after hitting "Play." Then I reach the point in the progress bar where "Acquiring player data." is initiated. It hangs here for 3 minutes, then I'm back in PlayOnline menus reloading my friend list.

I'm not sure why you're taking your anger out on him. I was glad he posted, as it may be nice to have a thread where all of the problems are gathered (each of the other threads seems to be focused on one). There are quite a few, and I think it would be beneficial to have people educated about all of them in one place.

I have actually contacted my Japanese and Taiwanese friends in the game, they do not seem to have a single problem -- or no one experienced one yet.

I live in Chelmsford Ma and I am also getting the error FFXI-3113 Protocol time out error.

Not only do I use Comcast but I am also a Comcast employee. SE better not blame this error on the ISPs as before. I'm tired of this crap.

Well guys, we're on our own until we can raise our voices enough for SE to listen....

Mar. 9, 2007 18:07 [PST] From: FINAL FANTASY XI

Concerning the Connectivity Issue (Mar. 9)

We understand some players are currently experiencing connectivity issues. Our team of technicians investigated and confirmed that our FINAL FANTASY XI servers are working properly, and our service is not experiencing any technical difficulties at this time.

If you are having connectivity issue at this time, try connecting to FINAL FANTASY XI again at a later time.

Link > http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news9936.shtml

We have to send email to SE for them to understand the extent of the issue

PC Windows XP ADSL

ERROR: POL-4001
LOCATION: Alberta, Canada
ISP: Telus
SERVER: Fenrir
ZONES R0ED IN:
Lower Jeuno

Characters ok in all other zones so far: San D;Oria, airship, Jugner Forest etc.

I haven't played for fear of DC'ing while in a pt.

Took eight hours to download the update and no problems at all until today approx 9am mst March 9.

I get S50, r0, and can run around for quite some time in the zone before actually losing the game-screen and getting the error screen. When I log in, I am in the position that I was in when I lost the game screen--so I can make it from almost one end of the Lower Jeuno to the other, with r0 all the while. This is what allowed me to get out of the zone.

EDIT: I'd quit the game before I reinstall FFXI for both of my accounts and go through the update rigamaroll all over again.

Ok, let's look at this logically then. If SE says the servers are active and working properly, then I'm willing to believe that. And if it's not a specific ISP that is being affected, we need to seek another answer, and not immediatly dismiss it at "SE *************** As no JP clients have been affected to my knowledge, this leads to possibly a backbone issue (either some node offline or improperly routing, causing packets to be lost, etc, etc...). Has anyone noticed other symptoms outside of just FFXI r0'ing people in random zones, such as high ping times, packet loss, etc... stop and think before jumping to incorrect conclusions.
