Ive tried changing IP in every way possible and its not fixing crap, personaly im tired of this and things just getting worse. First it started with the search, then DCs, followed by not being able to log char in, and then not being able to even get to the char login.

So we hear SE say its our fault, and they havent seem to try crap to fix it. So im canceling my IDs cause i cant seem to play.

I have heard rumors that SE baned IPs to prevent gil sellers from playing well it seems they baned the wrong ones, hopefuly if this rumor is true they will undo it.

I'm asking that anyone with problems start doing the same even if your able to log in, you will still be able to play or try to log in till the end of the month. You can always renew it at the end if you still want to play or when they fix the problem. I'm hoping that if enough people "act" like they quitting SE will get a scare and try something about it.

So please Cancel IDs so that SE see's we are not going to take their blames

Why cancel ID's? Your character will still be available to play until the end of the month and by then SE will have had fixed this problem. Then you will probably just restart your content ID anyways so why not be patient and let them fix this problem.

FFXI doesn't have many technical issues that I've noticed so give them a break and let them work on it.

Seriously, imagine your precious servers going down on a scheduled time... every week! *gasp* Oh my gawds! Imagine servers crashing! Imagine being unable to log in for extended periods of time!

FFXI hasn't had any of these problems for forever. This is not an excuse, but scheduled maintaince and server problems plauge most if not all MMOs. The fact that SE has gone pretty much without them since the legendary DDoS attacks of years ago is pretty amazing. A mass ID canceling like this will never work, because you'll never acctually get people to do it, and you'll end up reactivating before the next month anyways, face it.

Perhaps, but the biggest issue is how the company handles these issues. Most of the time it is brushed off as being only the user's problem simply because they (the company) sees no problems on their end. I honestly dont care if their servers are up and running - makes no to little difference to me if I can not connect to their servers. Two totally (while they may be related) issues.

And once again - it was how that situation was handled, poor communication and the relying on players to simply stay because of the game. The game and the service are two different things - and while I enjoy the game, I have nothing but criticism for their service policies and abilities.

Not everyone will cancel, probably most wont - but showing with your dollars is the most effective way to "protest" a companies actions (or inactions) in any situation. I doubt they will truly admit anything - or will even communicate what the issue is except for the lame, canned responses most are getting with these issues.

The only major change in any of this was the one instigated by SE, the fact they are blaming their customer base (and a large number are having these issues - so saying it is isolate makes no sense) is irresponsible. Also, why should I have to reboot my router/modem three times a day for them? I dont have to for any other services I need and look at my IP, its a game - there is nothing critical about their service. Its a annoyance, but - if I can not use their service - I may as well save my money and move on to another thing. Apparently my money means very little to them.

But surely AanyaRamuh if SE have done checks on their servers and report no issues what more can they do?

Having said that if half the player base are unable to connect to Final Fantasy XI SE wont leave it as it is they will look into the problem.

They can check from outside their own servers. Its called testing and customer service. It seems they have issues with both of those when it comes to their game - from what I have seen, they are not taking into account how the peices come together, nor are we sure how they go about doing these checks and tests.

If they are all internal, they probably dont have these issues - most of the issues are from outside their network (people logging in from various locations.)

imagine a world were businesses were only there to lose money.

now, in this world place yourself and SE and this little problem you are having.

with the exception of the problem you are having the rest seems like a fairy tale right. Quit Dreaming. NO business wants to lose its customer base. So Why would anyone accuse a company who has been around for 20 years of

not taking into account how the peices come together,

Quit acting like SE hates you and loves everyone else and thats why we should all cancel our accounts.

I cant imagine a company who makes "games made for the greatest hits section"
not knowing their own situation. Its bad business. And it doesnt make any sense. And as far as their customer service goes, You have obviously never had to deal with Microsoft, Sony, Sprint Pcs, or Mitsubishi. Those company will impale you with dire wait times, inaccurate information and terrible attitudes as well as 3 of those 4 i listed have call centers in India (ugh). SE's customer service is a godsend in my eyes compared to any of those comapnies.

I only ask, if the problem is indeed their fault, why havent they had emergency server maintenence yet? they even fixed "gils", Maybe they are telling the truth?

Development and support are two separate parts of this business. The game developers did an excellent job on creating the game, however - its been pointed out in the past that SE does not control their customer service. I believe that is still a separate company.

The game isnt the issue - it is the service and support of their online game that is the issue - and basically why pay for a service or entertainment you can not access?

And yes, have had to deal with them as well - and have had better luck with those companies when it came to talking to a person.

Updates
Mar. 10, 2007 02:08 [GMT] From: FINAL FANTASY XI
Concerning the Connectivity Issue (Mar 10)

We understand some players are currently experiencing connectivity issues. Our team of technicians investigated and confirmed that our FINAL FANTASY XI servers are working properly, and our service is not experiencing any technical difficulties at this time.

If you are having connectivity issue at this time, try connecting to FINAL FANTASY XI again at later time.

See now to me it doesn't seem that SE is necessarily blaming us. They have said they can't find anything wrong on their end, and to try and connect again later. They did not say : "We have check everything over on our side. We could not find anything so it is now obivously your fault. Give us your money now. Sincerly SE"

Sure I was annoyed when I zoned in to Qufim to solo some worms while seeking and got the dreaded R0. What did I do? I went back to Jeuno and headed off somewhere else. I understand some people cannot connect at all but really this seems like a complex problem.

It would be a quick fix if everybody had trouble with the same zones; but that's not what's happening. Different people, different computers, different zones, different regions.

It may have something to do with them, but really do you think they are doing nothing? I doubt it.

Am I the only one to ask, if it isnt the servers then maybe it's something else, like the code? These problems only started popping up after the latest version update. I dont know anything about setting IP or anything else about programming, so don't come back at me with all the technical mumbo-jumbo about why I'm wrong - at least make sure I can understand your response!

I'm not cancelling my account unless this problem persists for more then a month without any acknowledgement from SE, but I admit it irked me how poorly they handled it. All day Sunday to see the system message about the problems with GMs but no recognition that a large group of gamers are having these other issues. You had to petition a GM just to get 'Sorry to hear it but we can't help you, now go away & quit bugging us.' I would have expected a system-wide message along the same lines, since they clearly wanted these requests to stop. Instead we got no acknowledgement of the fact that you aren't the only one with this problem, or that the problem exists.

Bad SE, very very bad SE!
/em rolls up a newspaper & smacks SE with it

Well i have only had one instance with SE customer service. It took about 1 hr to get a Rep to chat with. This was months ago, My FFXI wouldnt load past the Acquiring Character Blah blah blah. After getting a hold of them they ran me trough a couple ways to fix it even though they said it was more than lilkely a router issue. If i could grade them on helpfulness i would give them a 3.75 out of 5, as far as timelyness i give them a 2 out of 5.

now when my 360 died on me, Microsoft took 3 hours to get a working cust. service rep, who wanted to charge me 30 dollars to help me. Only for me to pay and them tell me nothing, except send it in for service we will send you a serivce invoice. WTF is that.

To those who think SE's Customer service sucks, it seems patience is a virtue. I cant imagine Se's call center being geared to handle 30,000 calls a day. I imagine there call center is structured to deal with 3,000 calls a day.
SE will fix this if its their problem. If its not their problem then they will continue to say so and lead you down avenues to resolve the problem.
