YaY an admin R0 thread!

I'm not so fanatical about playing that I'm willing to try all kinds of things to get it going. I'd rather just do something else. So what things do you guys recommend doing? Refreshing the Main forum every 10 seconds doesn't count.

Things to do besides beat your router or make SE voodoo dolls:

Floats
TV
Mah Jong Solitaire on Yahoo

I'm also in IRC for a couple more hours if you're bored.

I've read about all the 100 to 0 probs.
I myself have that problem. Howevever, one weird thing
was that when I do have that prob.. even after fixing the IP junk that ppl posted
new areas probs would pop up, while old problem areas seem fine.

I just log off reset modem and rounter..for 1min. Then for some reason its fine.. after doing that once or twice.

I'm not sure what it is but IP/modem/router/SE must be conflicting some how.

Yes its a pain in the butt ><; I'm sure they will fix it soon.
Its not like this is a first.. but a first of this intensity ><;

I just wanted to write about this modem/router 1min reset for the ppl who keep posting about being stuck and not being able to play.

After this trick i've been moving freely in the same zone in minutes.

Well goodluck guys/gals ^^

R0 Conspiracy Theory!

It could be a diversion to the rumour that POL is scanning your running processess. There was a big fuss over that then suddenly we start having r0 errors and everyone focuses on that instead and all threads about the scanning get pushed aside...hmmmmmm!

Ok I really should stop listening to my paranoia. ><

Bored at work!

Argh, Why did you share that? Now I'll never get to sleep. Smiley: cry And I don't even have the R0 Issue ><;

Edit: I'll never understand you people and your rate-socks. The above comment was playful sarcasm, as I'm having too much fun to put it down.

Play another game on a console/PC? XD

If I were having the R0 problem, I'd be playing FFXII, God of War, Tomb Raider, any assortment of Zelda games from OoT on, or the infamous Tetris.

....or PacMan

If you must resort to web entertainment though, ytmnd.com XD

Pikko,

Not to highjack your thread....but....

1. SE has stated that the R0 problem is not theirs but ours. (via a GM service note when I got stuck in the Hall of Transference, note I cannot zone myself out of there if the zone doesn't load - I simply wanted them to move my char back to homepoint, but without direct interaction I got a generic message back stating the above)
2. SE has stated that there are no scans running on our system (in your locked, sticky thread). (as a side note, I don't even care much, but you'll see why I mention it below)

Now I can deduce the following:
1. Prior to the update everything worked fine
2. after the update myself (and many others) had problems
3. (a) I changed nothing, (b) SE changed something, (c) the rest of the internet may have changed
4. SE has stated the R0 problem is mine, not theirs (see #1 above).

I believe 3b to be true, 3a simply doesn't not make a lick of sense, and 3c seems to be untrue because not everyone has the problem and the fact that I can get a different IP from my ISP and the nature of my problem changes. The fact that hundreds of people (and probably more) are having the same problem (ie can connect to anything on the interet except POL or some subset thereof) leads me to believe that SE stating 3a is the problem is almost 0. 3c seems to be low, and 3b seems very high.

If SE is stating 1 & 2 above, and I can deduce the other information we can conclude that statement #1 is likely wrong, which means SE is either:
A. stupid
B. lying

supposing A is true: If they don't know they created the problem they likely don't know how to fix it!
supposing B is true: that makes statement #2 at the top irrelevant doesn't it?

Honestly, I just want the R0 problem fixed, the fact that I can get different levels of connections (ranging from no POL, to no FFXI to R0 in different zones depending on what IP I got last) changing my IP and nothing else leads me to believe they have some sort of filtering going on, although I'll allow for a slim chance that my ISP or some 3rd party is doing something similiar between me and SE, but that seems very unlikely.

As of now SE has stated nothing that leads me to believe they're fixing the problem, they have to be smarter than that, they're either woefully ignorant, or willfully lying. If its the latter I assume the problem will get fixed but it throws that other statement right out the window.

I'd rather spend time with my partner watching movies n' stuff. :) But we both play the game, and I don't like the subtle implication that if we're bothered by these server problems that there's something wrong with us... This is one of the more expensive online games (for me at least) so I do like to get my money's worth, ya know? XD

Even admins are not immune to this. BTW - notice all the problems with the GM petitions service. I wonder how many GM's are having this "ISP" problem :D

But aside from COnspiracy theories...

I reccommend Rogoue Galaxy - you will soon forget all about FFXI (at least for a while). Excellent story and good gameplay. Even rought a tear to my eye at the very end.

I guess http://megami.starcreator.com/nanaca-crash/ works well too

There is another alternative to FFXI:

Outdoors where you (should) have Friends. Outdoors is also a magical place where you can get your job class. You can also level up at many different places.

See it's just like an MMORPG, only with better Graphics. Just don't aggro the wrong mob, or else they will kick the crap out of you.

(As you can tell I'm sick and tired of R0 threads popping up every 10-20 minutes)

(Edit: I have a router, and i'm still doing the other days update the I started about 30 minutes ago. 46% done already)

I was able to fix the problem by connecting my PS2 directly up to the modem and reconnecting (bypassing the router).

I reset my router.

After logging on in the affected area (North Gusta), I disconnected and reconnected through my router.

This seemed to work for a while, but I had problems again when I re-entered the affected zone (North Gusta).

My wife also had problems in Ghelsba, this fixed it for her.

This is not a new problem, we have been having it for several weeks (although not as bad).

I think that SE is sending something to my router (for certain areas) that is being blocked. I am going to check the settings on my router to see if I can find out what it is.

This IS something SE is doing differently that they have done before.

How many of you with problems also have routers?

I dunno. Call up Comcast, switch to their high-speed? I have it, few of my friends have it. Neither of us have seen any R0s or zone black-outs.

Did you really have to derail my thread into a real R0 one? There are 50 others to choose from and my recreational one didn't need to be your victim!

My apologies, I guess since I don't have any real useful information on it I didn't see the point in adding to the other threads, but my secret wish is that you as an admin might have some of super power to get SE to actually admit they have a problem on their end. Because then I can wait patiently and do another suggestion in this thread for a couple days knowing the the problem should be fixed soon. Thus far it appears the only problem they admit to is too many people are spamming them with R0 complaints, but appearantly none if it is their fault by the automated replies we get back. (and that my friends is Irony).

On topic: I'll spend time with my wife.
