So, I'm trying to log on. And now update! and now its stuck at 0%(Downloading latest information..blah blah)...note this isnt the big update...this is the measly small one to fix gils and aura steal.

2 1/2 more hours, then angry FFXI people are going to flood emails/web chat/phones.

I hope they enjoyed their weekend, cause we are going to make their Monday hellish. :D

I'm excited yet angered. I want to see if anything sold on AH. At leaast that doesn R0 on me, :p

Updates are a crap shoot at best with SE. Ive had it where everyone else is complaining about how slow it is and mine finishes in like 5 minutes. I've also been on the other side where my firends are all in game in my update constantly freezes and times out.

Just something I've grown to expect from SE. They do alright on other things... but man is their update system bad.

Only 2 hrs.... That's nothing. I started mine at 8 AM on Saturday morning (because I decided to install ToAU on my PC finally instead of just PS2) and left, came back at 2 PM and it was still at 0%. Disconnected reconnected about 10 times, cleared out all cache and everything. Finally on my last attempt, it went through and started downloading. Finihsed in about 1.5 hr.

Needless to say, my PS2 was able to log in perfectly during this time. I wanted to see if it was just limited to my PC and Yep it was. PS2 connected, logged in with no issues. Disconnected, logged in from PC and sure enough, locked up at update screen.

I'm not sure what happened with POL. But it was not my ISP because I was able to log into FFXI from my PC just 30 minutes prior. And for it to work from my PS2 and not my PC says - SE did something weird or has some setting incorrect that they are overlooking.

I was talking about the new update Square did this morning to fix gils and Aura Steal. Not the one uber huge one that was super congested and took 15 hours to download. Though this is not to fantastic either.

I've given it since Thursday and I still can't play the game properly which has escalated into not being able to play at all now. If I give it time I'll be giving SE my money for nothing forever.

I'm giving Square until Friday to fix it, I'm gonna quit cause they need to be on this immediately like last week when it started instead of jerking each other off. My husband pays for 2 accounts so thats like 25-26 bucks that we are just giving them to be r0'd.

I dont wanna quit, i dont but if they arent gonna fix it. **** them.

Whatever issue is affecting people hitting R0 in random zones, it's also causing them to fail updating... sounds like some nasty network problem that covers every SE server.

Incidently, I haven't had any problems whatsoever. DLs are more or less predicted duration, no DCs, nada.

Lol im just about to speak to an agent on webchat and its got a message as soon as i get to the chat thing:

Wait one moment while you are being connected. You will be notified once you are connected with a representative.
As of Mar. 9, 2007 5:00 (PST), we are aware of connection related issues with an underlying backbone outside of our servers control. This is not affecting all ISPs. This is affecting NA and EU players primarily. Please try again later.
All agents are currently busy. Please stand by.
An agent will be with you in a moment. Thank you for your patience.

When you log on with windower and see the update screen, just log out and use
the full screen executable. Update with that then log after update. Log on
with windower and things go much smoother. I had a password/username freeze
on me and had to get it reset and changed when I had updated with windower some
time ago in the past.

Personally i think its down to routers.

If anyone is using a standard modem and still having the same issue that all of us having i will take back my statement above. lol

Maybe in this update SE added something that routers just are not accepting or to much information is passing through them.

If you think if it was a server issue everyone would be getting a problem with them particular zones but if it was a router issue because we all have different hardware/routers some are blocking whilst others are not.

And its just knowing the right way to fix it. If you see what i mean . :)

if its down to routers then im sure SE will lose many players since some play on laptops via wireless connection.

I have a router cause my husband plays on his laptop while i play on the PC. So pretty much if its routers, that means I cant play with him anymore and we have to share one computer. I really hope there will be a patch for this cause I dont think either him or I could restart for the umpteenth time, especially when he JUST got DRG again and thats his dream job right there ;_;
