Possible help for people with R0 problemFollow

Yes another thread on the subject but I would like to try and assist people and having this post burried in one of the others probably won't do that.

Now first off, please understand that I have not personally had this problem. What I am offering is something that I remembered working from the DDOS days and I have no idea whether it will be helpful or not.

What I found back then is that two character functions seem to use a different set of servers and/or ports and I was able to use this fact to prevent DCs at inoportune times by exploiting this fact.

First method is to spam /examine on yourself. It often took several tries but I was able to get this command through often enough to prevent DCing and travel to a safe place.

Second method is to spam an equipment change. The /examine method is better for traveling but /examining a mob does not seem to work so this one could actually let me finish a battle where I was ROing.

Other things that I tried at the time, but which were not effective were trying the Linkshell List, Friends List, /sea and Region Info. Things may have changed so these might be worth a try.

Interestingly enough I found that even with R0 I could /t /l /s /p /sh just fine, ie there was not a problem with outgoing traffic only inbound. So if you are popping into a Dynamis or something and find yourself in a "Dead Zone" you should at least be able to let people know what's going on.

One problem here is that if you are behind an obstacle which requires interaction, for example behind the Cermet Door in the Secret Room in CN it will be difficult but not impossible to open it by yourself. What you need to do, assuming these techniques work at all, is to click on it and then quickly switch to /examine yourself hoping you will get a response in time to make it through. This method may also work for using things like a Warp Spell/Scroll/Cudgel/etc.. I did manage to use a Warp Cudgel a couple of times back then with this method. DCing was guranteed at the point of warp but I could then log back on in the new zone.

Once again I have not yet found a zone that gives me these issues and therefore this is all completely untested. If you try these and they don't work I am sorry, I sympathize with your plight.

PS - obviously this is not a cure, just a possible means for getting out of a "Dead Zone" to a place where you can at least interact and possibly add to the storm of GM Calls I am sure SE is experiencing at present.

Should work if you have a cudgel in inventory.

The type of R0 in the last few days is different. The loss of incoming data occurs much sooner than if you were in the middle of a zone and started lagging, and so character data such as equipment, spells, and abilities remain locked out (the ability list is visible but outdated). Checking oneself, spamming abilities, or using unequip macros (equip macros don't work) doesn't seem to postpone the timeout. The /map function also doesn't load.

If you're R0'ed like this, you can zone out and wait 3mins to log back into a working zone, or if you're in the middle of a map, pull up Vanadiel atlas and navigate by typing <pos>. It may take 10-15 minutes just to walk to a zoneline due to the frequency of the timeouts.

If in a special zone that can't be walked out of (e.g., doors blocking exits or airships), you'll need to invite a mage - anyone with teleport or Warp 2 - to locate you and get you out of that area. Remember that sending is fine but receiving is down. You can spam search till you see your friend, then invite from the menu and hope they teleport or warp you out before you time out completely.

If stuck in a very remote or low level area (e.g. Promyvions), the easiest way out is to run around agro'ing random mobs (which you can't see), then homepointing at the next log-in.
