Questions: R0 relatedFollow

Okay. I'm sure someone has thought of this, but we were discussing it in the IRC room, so I thought I'd ask. I'm making a new thread because I think it'd get lost in any of the 2-5 pages of the others. So please forgive that.

1a.) Those of you that are experiencing connection issues, did you have many disconnects and errors while updating?

1b.) Those of you that are NOT experiencing connection issues, did you have any disconnects or errors while updating?

2a.) Those of you experiencing connection issues, did you run the Check Files on POL Viewer?

2b.) Does it come up with any of the files corrupted?

3.) Those of you experiencing connection issues, were you able to log on the night the update ended?

The reason I ask these questions is probably very obvious. I'm wondering if the disconnects during updating corrupted some of your files. If you have the file on your computer, the updater wouldn't necessarily recognize it as corrupted, just that you have the file on your computer.

I've stated before, I can't find my dead zone, but I also was able to update my FFXI as soon as the update was available, and had absolutely no problems playing the night the update had finished. So yeah. Those are my questions.

No disconnects or errors while updating. In fact, I got my update downloaded and installed in about 1.5 hours.

The one thing I HAVE noticed, is that in besieged, I'm getting a lot more lag than ususal. Probably from all the people around who actually ARE having connectivity issue. That's just a guess.

I left my sluggish, slowass update on overnight and when I woke up, the connection had been interrupted at some point and stopped. After that, I tried again and it downloaded in under 10 minutes. I am experiencing the R0 disease.

1b.) Those of you that are NOT experiencing connection issues, did you have any disconnects or errors while updating?

I'm not experiencing Issues.

I disconnected and timed out about 7 times total throughout the big version update. I started at 6pm EST the day of the update. It timed out on me 3 times during the night. I left it running when I went to bed, and woke up with it timed out.

I restarted it before going to work, and when I got home from work, it had disconnected again sometime during the day. I restarted it about 2 more times over the course of the evening and finished the update somewhere around 7pm.

Took about 24 hours from start to finish (due to sleep and work) but I finished. I have a 2mb charter cable connection, behind a router.

I have not had a single problem connecting after the update.

I had no disconnects while updating. I was able to log in the night of update March 7. I ran check files no corrupted files. I had no trouble on March 8 the day after the update.

My trouble started on March 9 after a maintenance was ran on certain areas that morning. Upon logging in the morning of March 9 I was unable to enter lower jeuno or windurst woods on 2 of my characters I instantly go to R0 and disconnect now and recieve error code 4001. I also hit R0 upon entering dynamis san and the sanc. of Zi Tah and disconnect on my main character.

I am experiencing issues.

I didnt download the update until the day after it was released. I logged on, got it started, went to class, and when I came back about an hour later it was done, no problems. I was busy so I logged off and never actually logged into my char that day.

The next day (friday?) I went to log on and the problems started. It would log into POL okay, but when loading the main POL screen it would time out and I would recieve Error code:POL-1363. Tried reseting router, no dice.

Next I connected my comp directly to modem. Was able to log into POL no problem. Logged into my char in FFXI where I had previously logged out in MH in Whitegate. As soon as I logged in I R0'd and received Error code:FFXI-4001. Logged in again and managed to zone out to Al'Zhabi before I dc'd again. Logged in once again to find that my connection was stable in Al'Zhabi. But if I zone into Whitegate I R0 and dc. Thats the only zone I know of where I dc, I havent gone anywhere else.

I tried leaving my modem off for the night and trying once again today. Didnt seem to work.

Might be a stupid question, but how do I run "check Files" on PoL?
#11 Mar 12 2007 at 6:55 PM Rating: Decent

1a.) Those of you that are experiencing connection issues, did you have many disconnects and errors while updating?

None at all, I downloaded my update without any trouble in about an hour.

2a.) Those of you experiencing connection issues, did you run the Check Files on POL Viewer?
Nope.?

3.) Those of you experiencing connection issues, were you able to log on the night the update ended?
Yeah, there were people in my party disconnecting that night though.

1a.) Those of you that are experiencing connection issues, did you have many disconnects and errors while updating?

After downloading the POL update I clicked finish and it didn't take me back to the POL screen so I had to click the [x] to close the window. But other than that I had no problems.

1b.) Those of you that are NOT experiencing connection issues, did you have any disconnects or errors while updating?

N/A

2a.) Those of you experiencing connection issues, did you run the Check Files on POL Viewer?

Yes I did

2b.) Does it come up with any of the files corrupted?

No, apparently they are all ok

3.) Those of you experiencing connection issues, were you able to log on the night the update ended?

Yep. My POL window loaded up a bit funny but I was able to play the game no problem. I ran into a R0 zone on Friday between 3-4PM (PST).

I tried to zone into my mog house (right before I d/c'd) and when I logged back on all I saw is the Van clock, my name and my HP/MP bar, and I can hear music. Everything else is black, and I still have R0. Not sure if that helps anyone but there's my info. Oh, and I don't use a router.

Here's hoping everyone can play soon :)

1a.) I had 2 disconnects while updating

1b.) n/a

2a.b) Yes, found no bad files

3.) Yes, I logged on and had no problems at all.

-It was the next day that I was unable to log in. POL -1363 all night long. Finally, at 3am I found a post that said changing IP works.

-so, quick fix, I swapped out my router, and connected my PC direct to my cable modem (thus obtained a new dynamic IP)

-everything worked fine.

-next day, hooked router back up, called ISP, changed IP. Everything is working.... then....

-zone from Northern San d' Oria to Southern..... R0

-zone from MH to SOuthern San d/ Oria .... R0

-so i give up, my chocobo is probably dead by now

-zone from Qufim to Lower Delkfutt's Tower ... R0

-Reinstall RoZ, and CoP ... update again, check files .... R0

-change ROUTER IP (ie 192.168.0.1 ---> 192.168.1.1) .... R0

-connect PC back without Router ---- EVERYTHING IS FINE!!!!!

-SE has some simple explaining to do..... All I want is firewall settings for their new 'software'

I got this today while *trying* to get chat support...finally gave up...

Wait one moment while you are being connected. You will be notified once you are connected with a representative.
As of Mar. 9, 2007 5:00 (PST), we are aware of connection related issues with an underlying backbone outside of our servers control. This is not affecting all ISPs. This is affecting NA and EU players primarily. Please try again later.

If it's affecting both NA -and- EU players, it must be either the biggest backbone EVER, or it must be REALLY CLOSE TO THE SERVERS? *nudge nudge*

I haven't had any connection issues since the update (beyond my normal issues of lag at times), but I did have about 4-5 disconnects during the update process.

I for some reason thought I had avoided this issue. Until I decided to leave Aht Urhgan. I was fine until I hit Port Jueno. I was trying to get a choco and head to Castle Oz. Then I get d/c. Figuring it was random, I log back in and immediately get a d/c. I was able to make movement progress and managed to zone into Sauro. Everything was normal there. Decided to zone back into Port J. and again got the R0. and went back out. Figuring it was just Port J. I headed off to Castle Oz. I hit Meriphataud, and again I got an R0 d/c. Knowing that I could make movement progress I made it to Castle Oz with 6 d/c's. I even tried to use a warp scroll. No chance in hell, I didnt event see my hit points register it was so bad. I mad it to Castle Oz and crossed my fingers.... I held a strong connection. So Port J. and Meriphataud were the only place causing me issues. I did have 2 d/c's while downloading update however.

I've found so far no dead-zones, and my update ran perfectly smoothly (~3hrs including volume checks etc) on the day.

Nearest I've come to an R0 issue was upon entering Temenos where it took ~ 10 seconds for the zone to fully "connect". However it recovered apparently perfectly after that.

Oddly enough the night BEFORE the update I had a series of weird R0's very similar to what people have described when trying to enter Ghelbsa from Ronfaure. This was apparently coincidental, but I would add this as an additional question to people who have apparently not suffered any severe R0 effects:

Has your connection faltered and then recovered a few seconds later?

The reason I wonder is whether or not some clients/hardware-configs are more robust than others, and actually can recover from whatever the fault is that is KO'ing other people?

I have RO disease when zoning into Qufim and Dynamis-Windurst (only areas i've found since after being stuck in dynamis for 3 hrs + i have decided to stay in my MH in Jeuno and Whitegate so as not to get "stuck" anywhere, rendering the game utterly unplayable to me since I don't want to get stuck on an Airship or in the middle of a large zone).

I was interupted once during the update on the night it came out. I started 1 hr before servers came back online, took me about 5 hrs, slow as hell, only one interupt at about 10% installation.

that being said I've had updates go Much worse and take much longer and interupt me many many more times than this and I've never had this issue playing on a Playstation 2.

File check yielded no problem in ffxi or pol.

Have reset modem many times for varying lengths of time to no avail. I have been putting off calling my ISP (because they have been very very good to me in the past) until I see what happens basically.

I can play other stuff so i'ma just hang in MH until this is resolved and play PSU and Rogue Galaxy and Madden :)

1a.) Those of you that are experiencing connection issues, did you have many disconnects and errors while updating?

~No errors, no disconnects, took 3 hours and was done before update maintenance was finished.

2a.) Those of you experiencing connection issues, did you run the Check Files on POL Viewer?

~I've done file check twice.

2b.) Does it come up with any of the files corrupted?

~No corrupted files either time.

3.) Those of you experiencing connection issues, were you able to log on the night the update ended?

~Yep, I played fine until Friday morning when I ran out of Onzozo, into the R0 hell of Buburimu Penninsula not really giving it much thought, other than it seemed weird.
Escaped from there fine, until later that night when I entered the dreaded Hall of transference Mea, where I've been ever since. -_-

Thanks everyone for posting their replies. It must just be coincidental that a lot of the people not having connection issues got the update before servers were back up. I'm still utterly confused by it. Maybe those of us that aren't having issues just have such a remotely used zone as to not realize we DO have a problem zone? *shrugs*

I have 2 PCs. First one I updated right away (no D/Cs), got on that night, and did not experience any errors. Second one D/Ced overnight, and took a while to update. Both PCs are giving me errors. I don't think when the update was downloaded has anything to do with this issue.

edit: I've found 7 dead zones so far. I've probably checked about 40 areas.
