Repost from 2005 NEW INFORMATION FOUND AT END OF THIS POST:

For those looking to replace lost eggs (ie. You tossed your Fortune Egg at a goblin), you CAN get them from the event again. I've spent the better part of the past three hours helping people collect letters to re-get eggs they'd lost over the course of the year.

Arketa wrote:

Same setup as most events, Moogles in the 3 cities.

To start your quest, talk to the moogle, he will give you an egg, lettered A-Z, and he will ask you to bring him a "First 3" combination.

If you form a party, each day when you talk to the moogle, he will let you choose an egg. The options for which eggs you can get are based on the names of the people in your party. (If you're going for 7 of a kind, team up! You and your pt member will always get the same egg each day, based on the other's name! Ex. Hagbard and I (Arketa) form a pt. I will always have the option to collect an "H", and he will always have the option to collect an "A".)

You can get a new egg each Vanadiel day, and you can get extra eggs ONCE a day by:
- trading a colored egg to the moogle for one extra.
- trading a party egg to the moogle for two extra.
- trading a soft boiled egg (hard boiled HQ) to the moogle for one extra.
- trading a STACK of hard boiled eggs to the moogle for one extra.
- trading a STACK of bird/lizard eggs to the moogle for one extra.
- mining.
- harvesting.
- logging.

I've no confirmation on either chocobo digging or scavenging.

The combinations and their rewards are as follows:
First 3: this is the first 3 letters of your name.
- Ex. My name is Arketa, I have to trade A-R-K. Hagbard has to trade H-A-G.
This combination will get you chocobo tickets or colored drops.

Initial 8: this is 8 successive letters of the alphabet, starting with the first letter of your name.
- Ex. My name is Arketa, I have to trade ABCDEFGH. Hagbard has to trade HIJKLMNO.
This combination will get you a Happy Egg. (Level 1, All jobs, Thrown, DMG 1, Delay 777, HP+1%, VIT+1)

7 of a Kind: ANY letter will work for this, it does not have to be your first initial. Like it says, 7 of one letter.
- Ex. I traded 7 Q's. Hagbard traded 7 D's.
This combination will get you a Fortune Egg. (Level 1, All jobs, Thrown, DMG 1, Delay 777, MP+1%, VIT+1)

Egg furnishings:
You can get egg furnishings for your mog home by turning in the first FIVE letters of any region name. You will get the furnishing associated with the controlling nation.

All furnishings are earth 1. (*See Myths, rumors & such)

As of the time of this posting, regions are as follows (on Garuda server):
Bastok - Lamp Egg:
- GUSTA
- VALDE
- FAURE
- TULIA
- TAVNA
- VOLLB
- KUZOT

San d'Oria - Wing Egg:
- RONFA
- LITEL
- ARAGO
- KOLSH
- ZULKH
- ELSHI (I am wary to try this as there are two ELSHI options, high and lowlands)

Windurst - Flower Egg:
- SARUT
- DERFL

Beastmen costumes:
You will get a beastman costume if you turn in the letters for any region which is currently under beastmen control. On our server, these are NORVA, and MOVAL. Costumes are a timed effect, and do not transfer between areas. They do not give any special effects other than asthetically, and may limit some actions as in previous events. I wasn't interested, so I didn't bother.

Myths, rumors & such:
- VANADIEL: spelling this out takes the VALDE, and leaves you with the NAI. You'll get the Lamp Egg for trying this one, as Valdeaua* whatever is currently controlled by Bastok.
- JEUNO: the first combination I tried spelling, the moogle wouldn't take it.
- MOOGLE, EASTER, MOG, SUPER: there were quite a few people shouting that these combinations gave special prizes. If that's true, I have yet to see it.
- Some letters are worth more (bazaars, etc): If you want to pay outrageous prices for this event, feel free. Lots of people are selling 5,000 gil+ per egg. On the other hand, lots of people are trading, or selling for 2,000 gil-ish per egg. It's up to you. My only advice is - don't get ripped off paying for a "V". (Sorry Bloodelf! lol) U's and A's are where it's at!
- *Furnishing affects/effects?: As of yet, I haven't noticed anything. I've had my egg furnishings in my mog home across a Japanese midnight/game reset, but not yet for one full day. As of yet, my moogle doesn't seem to notice. So, I'm not sure. Maybe? Hopefully? Time shall tell...
- **Shadow Egg is a myth. I haven't heard anyone I know talk about it, but it's a rumor/bad Photoshop joke that's been passing around Allakhazam.

EDITED TO ADD IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE WHO MAY NOT READ THE POST ENTIRELY, LEST THEY COME BACK AND COMPLAIN ABOUT IT:
Those regions are what were controlled by the different nations on the Garuda server the first week of the Easter event in 2005. There's probably only a remote chance they're accurate for you on your server now. Check your server's regional information before collecting/trading!

You can also trade the element of the day you are making the trade on:

AIR
EARTH
FIRE
WATER
ICE
LIGHT
DARK
I don't remember if it's LIGHTNING or THUNDER though.
Hint: Go with ICE or AIR on Iceday or Windsday. :P

I think these combos got you the Orphic Egg, but I really don't remember :P

Updates as I get them.

Arketa's Egg Trading:
I already have the following items from previous events:
Lamp Egg, Wing Egg, Flower Egg, Happy Egg, Fortune Egg, Orphic Egg.

Egg Helm:
My "First 3" (ie. ARK) netted me the Egg Helm. If you're new to the game and have never done a FFXI event and this trade does not net you an Egg Helm, my only suggestion would be to repeat it >.< *Waiting for confirmation on repeat "First 3" trade.

Jeweled Egg:
I am from Bastok. I already possess a Lamp Egg. I traded GUSTA and was given the Jeweled Egg. Here's a picture, the egg shifts through the elemental colours.

To get a Jeweled Egg:
If you already posess at least one of the furnishings from this or a previous year (ie. Lamp, Flower, or Wing Egg):
Note the regions controlled by the corresponding nation, and trade accordingly. For example, if you have a Lamp Egg, and Bastok controls Gustaberg, you can trade GUSTA.

If you do not posess any of the furnishings from this or a previous year:
Note the regions controlled. Pick a nation. Follow the directions above to get a Lamp, Flower, or Wing Egg. See above. :)

Confirmed by Grover (from Windurst) on Garuda doing 2x San d'Oria controlled region trades to a moogle in Bastok, the first rewarded with a Wing Egg, the second rewarded with a Jeweled Egg... thus showing it's not tied to your character's nation, or the nation you trade in, thanks Grover :)

I'd also like to thank Ruzhyo for helping me get my "R" for trading, and for being the first person willing to let me test the Jeweled Egg theory on, though he was also from Bastok, so it didn't completely answer whether it was tied to your character's nation or to the nation of an egg you already posessed :)

Collected & attempted to trade JEUNO (despite failures in previous years to get anything from this combo). Still a no go.

Jeweled Egg:

I am from Bastok.
Bastok controls Gustaberg.
I traded GUSTA.

I got my jeweled egg.

Not sure if it's because I'm from Bastok or what, but hope that helps someone. :)

EDIT: Confirmed second Jeweled Egg from same trade, however... he was also from Bastok & also suggested that it might be because it's the regional egg he already possesses.

Current theory:
Region + Controlling nation is your own
Region + Controlling nation is a furnishing egg you already have (ie. a second Nation + Region controlled by that nation trade, albeit... a year+ later in this case)

Yea I'm Bastok too and got jeweled egg by trading G U S T A, maybe first time you try you'd get the nation egg, and afterwards if you tried again would get the Jeuno one.
I already have all 3 nation eggs from previous Events.

It's a disco ball!

Great... now you're going to come home to your moghouse someday and find your moogle with a group of friends doing the california hustle to 'Disco Inferno' or 'Kung Fu Fighting' while some other moogles are in the back corner doin' lines on stolen archaic mirrors.

Not really Quest related but If you have your Egg Helm on and call your NPC they'll be wearing it too, like the Christmas gear which I thought was neat.

If your partner is wearing the Egg Helm and you choose the name egg from teh Moogle, you will receive two eggs (first two letters) rather than the normal one egg (first letter).

Has anyone found out if there's a special moghancement or something from the jeweled egg, or if it's just a disco ball? Even if it's just a disco ball, I love it.

I had a Lucky Egg sitting in my Mog Locker from skill up parties in The Boyoda Tree.. I was saving it for the Opo Crown quest, but I'm not planning on doing that anytime remotely soon. I figured " Hey, what the heck, let's try it. " Traded the Lucky Egg to the moogle, and sure enough, he exclaimed how happy he was and gave me three L eggs.

My moogle hasn't noticed it yet >.<

I guess the last time to wait to see if it does anything is conquest tally come Sunday... if nothing happens for anyone by then, it's just another doodad to pretty up your mog home :D

If you have friends (or in my case a mule) that has the furniture eggs from last year, send them over to the person you want to have the jeweled egg. set up the eggs in the mog house and then you can just trade in GUSTA, RONFA or SARUT and collect your prize of the jeweled egg without having to trade the same thing twice.

that is if you do not want the other furniture eggs

After initial 3 I tried to trade my full name. Moogle only took the initial three again and gave me a black drop.

Black drop is a piece of candy, effect= instant warp

I am sure but I think the type of candy you get may depend on what day it is.

Here is all the info you need:
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/The_Egg_Hunt_Egg-stravaganza%21_2007/Guide
It appears you can get any of the previous years items, provided you know the right combinations. I personally have kept the same Fortune Egg [MP+1% VIT+1] for years.. might go for the Happy Egg for the HP+1% bonus soon. Its not much but at later lvls that 1% helps.

Still haven't heard anything about an egg helm +1. I would assume that maybe trading your first 3 to each of the moogles in the 3 nations might work, based on past experiences with events.
