Bears. Scurge of the forests. They reign terror for 6 months of the year on hapless campers and their Igloo brand coolers filled with lunch-meats and beer. These mammoth Wookie wanna-be's with there "Graaaaaaaaaaarrrgh"'s and "Burrraaaaaaaaoooowwrrr"'s and fur and such are deadly lovers of honey and salmon. Which brings me to my point...

Why aren't they in FFXI.

Seriously. The Northlands should be riddled with these monstrosities. Their glaring blood-red eyes peering out of caves and from the carcasses of Dragons. Their sad, lonely, maddeningly everywhere-but-nowhere, wails of bloodlust and hunger for said bloodlust should be intertwined within the howling wind in Beaucidine Glacier. Jugner Forest should have the bodies of travelers waiting for a raise strewn throughout and those same glaring neon-blod-red eyes burning holes into their next victim. Maybe it's you!

He want's YOUR royal jelly!!!

Look at those razor sharp de-fleshing tools!!! Stacks of Bear Fangs would be hard to come by... you have to kill them FIRST!

Better get Benediction ready. You're going to need it! RRAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRR!!!

Honestly, I think there should be bears in this game. Why not? What BST wouldn't want a bear obeying their every command?!

Here, here are some shots for the developers.

Attack Stance

Pre-Frenzy Stance.

Maybe WotG will bring these forest/glacial killers to the world of Vana'Diel. Altana knows, I wanna Tachi: Gekko the living **** outta these ginormous walking Death Stars.

This is by far the best Friday thread that I've seen in a really long time.

Bears will aggro by sight, sound, scent, and having food in your inventory.

Bears definitely get my vote.

EDIT: BST should only be able to Charm a bear if they are first wearing the entire Bison/Brave set, and even then they must wrastle the bear into submition. Doing so grants the title "Davey Crockett"

All I see is some American Indian manhood ritual... wrestling a bear... in the Bison Set.... with the leather tassels.

No offence to American Indians.

We already have bears in ffxi, we call them rabbits.

People will go out to the mire and face huge undead doomed monstrosities for exp, but the moment you suggest going out to boyadha or bibiki bay to exp on small rabbits you will get kicked from party. I dont know about you, but i dont think bears could match a small bunny whirlclawing your entire party for 300-400 a pop and then healing themselves.

Learn you some history, boy!

Very true. We need wolves, and make them travel in packs. D: I know I'm asking for too much probably, but Movalpolis was a good example of possibilities.

I hope they're not too low level. I'd hate to be trying to level and get tackled by a bear.

I know its a Friday thread and I hate to be the party pooper but man I saw too many bears in WoW. Those buggers are everywhere. I want nothing in this game that reminds me of that 12 year old kiddie pool. ><

Just say no to bears.

If you think about it, now that I am, pack wolves have been around since FF1. I used to dread them at early lvls, always about 6-9 of them. And fuggedabot the Ice Cave/Temple of Chaos. You get overrun...

WoW... wow :P

FFXI Beaucidine Glacier Bear, and Demon Seagulls (they BOTH crave blood!)

There's nothing "Kiddie Pool" about FFXI.

Yeah, let's have more animals in FFXI. We have tigers, we have camels, we have bulls, we have rabbits, we have lizards, heck we even have dinosaurs(sort of) that detect by True Sight even thought TRex can't detect by sight, just by movment.

You know what? I was totally thinking about why SE didn't put bears in FFXI at all? All I can think of is the character designer for FFXI is obsessed with black tigers and he puts them everywhere. Doesn't even bother with changing their coat colors. Top carnivore in FFXI > Black Tiger, how lame. We need more carnivores, plantigrades (bears), So yes, SE, we want bears.

'cause Yogi said so.

They were all over the northlands untill the great war. Since that time shadow dragons have eaten them into extinction.
