Mad cookies to you. Being the first, you get to be the discussion thread on the front page.

I wonder how that will work. I'm going to take a random guess and say all from some weird JA list like COR.

Bottom of the barrel? Maybe, but I'll put faith in SE that it turns out awesome.

When I saw the thread title i thought it was some sort of joke thread by someone who'd just got scholar until I noticed your name was red. >.>

So what did scholar do in past FFs? I don't recognise the name.

^^ Mucho thanks Pikko.

As for "more like nerd", I haven't been sitting refreshing, if that's what you think. I clicked the link from the JP FFXI site, and it was just there. I thought someone would have had it posted already, but I guess I just got "lucky".

It was essentially Chemist except without the mixing properties. They had double potency trait on items. They also could see the current hp of an enemy and also its elemental affiliation/weakness.

My guess is they are going to use like the Chemist class and only named it Scholar because it might sound too much affiliation with a crafting skill rather than a job, and it allows for experimentation. There weapons were books often relating to magical tombs (they also had lvl 1-3 White and Black magic spells). This was only in FFIII

Scholar used books to cast spells primarily as well as throwing books at the enemy. They got some seriously high level magic (on par with the advanced BLM in FF III).

I wonder if this will be another enfeebler, or maybe a support job like BRD.

edit- After seeing the other person's post, maybe a nuker that uses consumables? If it throws books as well maybe we'll get a throwing WS! Smiley: yippee

Hey, if Scholar had some sort of scan ability it might give SE and excuse to put some of the functionality of TParty into the game officially.

Well, let me start the ball rolling.

The picture is of a female, meaning without a shadow of a doubt Scholar is female only. You heard it here first. It's a fact because of that picture.

Going to be interesting how they incorporate Scholar.

If they keep the general consensus of the Scholar job intact, we'll get exact HP numbers on mobs, exact weaknesses, and possibly a new type of Magic Using DD. I doubt they'll be using the books as another means of buffing/de-buffing.

This sounds cool as hell, i've always wanted to "Scan" a mob instead of "Checking" it. Hopefully we'll be able to use that feature.

My other post won't edit so I'll say it here:

Someone said that it had nuking on par with BLM in other FFs? Maybe it could be a nuker that uses consumables. Maybe we'll get a throwing WS.

NU-UH! SCH is totally going to be taru only 'cause they have the highest INT of all races. I'm conveniently going to ignore the fact that the pic clearly shows a hume though.
