Classic Suggestions to SEFollow

#1 May 20 2008 at 6:29 AM Rating: Good
I was bored and was reading through the Feedback and Suggestion forums where players list ideas for game changes to Square Enix. When I realized I hadn't heard any good absurd ideas players listed in a while. I thought to myself, "that's too bad, those are usually the most fun to read". Some people have some really off-the-wall ideas. I went looking for some to read, so I thought I would share.

Very easy fix for low levels
Trivenity suggests that we allow subjobs to be leveled while leveling the main. He calls this the obvious solution to address the issue of it being difficult to find lower level parties. I guess these players can level all their jobs to 75 without having to even know how to play those jobs. As an added bonus we totally leave any new players behind as anyone with a level 75 will no longer actually level new jobs.

Random suggestions
Unknowvariable made a list of suggestions he would like to see. This list consists mostly of cosmetic things such as making dresses, designing your own underwear and adding piercings. He also would like items added including:
Quote:
Picnic baskets, blankets, towels, candles, umbrellas, etc. for dates/ hanging with friends.

REDO AHT URHGAN ENDING
Lemmi suggests SE change the ending of the Aht Urghan missions. He suggests his alternate ending by linking to a thread another poster made about a dream he had.

exp
Stefanthefruit suggests something... Hard to understand really. Basically he wants to have a magic exp journal where the journal keeps track of Too Weak monsters you've killed and then you turn this book in at some place for exp. Not sure why he doesn't just suggest making Too Weak mobs give exp, but it is what it is.

Nerf lizards
Drexis entire post on why lizards should be nerfed:
Quote:
Seriously, baleful gaze and plague breath...wtf

Make us fear death once again, bring back the WHM
Craftermath suggests beign killed by more than 1000 hps would result in blowing up to the point where Raise would no longer work. Instead you have to wait until a level 75 WHM comes around to cast some stupid new spell he made up.

Small Changes but benefitial.
xXSapheiraXx has a nice little list of "Small Changes" including 'get rid of lag'. Ingenious ideas no one has ever thought of.

Give us our own airship prz
Illmind wants people to have their own airships because walking around for quests "sucks srsly".

Relic Weapons
GoldenDragoon thinks many things in FFXI take too long, namely getting relic weapons. He reminds us things are much faster in offline FF games and that he'd rather just do that.

Idea for a new weapon type!
Lucavie suggests the new weapon: whip. In fact, he posts it many times and each time it gets "deleted" (read: subdefaulted), so he reposts. He adds a warning not to rate it down to be deleted because it is a good idea.

Thanks Xfire
OnisacMan wants Square Enix to know that Xfire of the Remora server is a very helpful person. Awwww, how sweet.

One of Reij's "brilliant" suggestions.

the post Stefanthefruit made had my brain burning, because I know I'd seen something like it before. Then it hit me. Something kind of like this exists, in Guild Wars. It's a set of Log Books, one for missions, and I forget what the other one was. As you complete things, it fills in the pages, and later you can turn in filled books for XP.

all im suggest is u know when somethings becomes 2 weak to be worth while i believe if each char had a magic journal or something long those lines keeps a record of every monster you kill,
And then once you have killed a certain amount of monsters you go to a place i havent thought of a name yet but its basically like a AH but not a AH you hand in ur journal and they exchange the amount of monsters uve killed and turn them into exp easy way for people 2 solo if they really dont want to exp.

This made me laugh uncontrollably for some reason. When I read it to myself my brain fumbled a few times. I then decided to read this out loud to the person sitting next to me. Other than the blank stare and fear I saw, actually hearing it made me laugh even more. This is another fine candidate for the longest sentence award.

Actually, that Reij one got Unrated! Hurray!

Now if we can just get his Karma to permanent Unrated level...the world will be a better place.

New Race
loyfriend wants a new race in the game. Apparantly, no need to obey the current storyline of FFXi either. Just give us some WoW-style races. His favorite choice:

Quote:
I think a dwarf would be hot

How to make NIN and /NIN unviable for tanking
Reij has suggestions on how to make NIN unviable for tanking. Just give every job shadows.

glowing weapons/armor
Rhianu also comes from the school of thought, 'If it is in World of Warcraft, its the way it should be done'. He insists FFXI really needs glowing weapons.

Hire an Economist
Ulixes suggests that Square Enix in Japan hire Alan Greenspan to fix the economy....

RMT"S
Kymaney suggests making gil trivial to get so everyone will have all they need and won't need to buy gil. Of course, as he mentions, the Japanese players have all the gil.

Update Ideas for SMN
ViviTheGreat gives some ideas on how to do something with Avatars for SMN. Like most of his posts it is hard to decipher. To be fair he warns the reader in the first sentence:

Quote:
I know my recent Suggestions have not been so good, but I think this one will be good for SMN.

He then gives some mumbo-jumbo suggestions such as:

Quote:
These Abilities can be Dispelled but how it is the SMN who giving the effect it cannot be Dispelled from the avatar.

"Campaign" could have been a launch idea
Phinal makes a long post on how Campaign could have been added when FFXI was first launched. His basic complaint is any improvements made to FFXI over the years should have been around from the beginning.

...
DjinnRB wants to change FFXI to be instead of choosing one of the existing races and naming your own characters everyone would choose from an existing FF character from the past. Pure classic.

Quote:
I think that it would be cool to be able to choose from all the characters from past final fantasy games instead of elvan, taru, hume, ect ect. you could still choose from them but I think it would be sweet to see a bunch of clouds, squals, sephs, zels, ect running around.

Only thing that would change is the character look so there shouldnt be a ps2 limitation.

Let me hear your thoughts on this idea :)

What were you thinking SE
Soulrunner wants to ask SE why they made DNC so gimp.

BEST IDEA EVER!!
Xellith uses the SE feedback forum to throw a tempertantrum about having lag issues immediately following an update:

Quote:
How about when you release a patch.. you test it first so a sh*tload of your player base doesnt get crappy lag issues that make the game virtually unplayable.

Reset TP to 0 when player change visible equipment
Reij suggests TP gets reset to 0 when changing any visible gear. He suggests that gear swapping for WS is just for eliteist and it is unfair for newer players to feel pressured to do so.

Scholar should NEVER be able to outdamage BLM. EVER.
Kerberoz's actual post?

Quote:
F*ck you SE.

non-racist gameplay
Birdfeld had a friend who dropped his exp ring and couldn't convince a GM to get it back. He comes to the conclusion it is because he does not speak Japanese and that SE is a racist company.

A way to make waiting for invites easier
ViviTheGreat asks for a feature that will send some sort of chime sound when recieving a tell. Note this post was made after this feature had been in the game for a long time.

While his wording was, to say the least, inadequate, Kerb's point was completely justified.
A generalist should never out-specialize a specialist.
lol @Fynlar's answer. Always rely on Fynlar to miss the point.

I understand that the current gaming community is a bunch of crybabies and wimps, but back in the day, REAL rpgs made death a terrible experience.

AKA: Wizardry 1-5 (when you died, if raise failed you turn to ash, raise no longer works)

But of course, what I suggested was more along the lines of Disintegration.

AKA: Dungeons and Dragons (50+ damage overkill destroys you utterly, Raise no longer works)

My suggestion came from another thread where some idiot, presumably another one of those wimps I mentioned, suggested removing death altogether from campaign since there was no real penalty anyway other than the inconvenience of waiting for a mage to raise you.

To give me credit for these ideas just ranks your cryingness a little above par. If you want to say people have stupid ideas, at least be smart enough to recognize the work of the single best RPG programmer ever (DW Bradley) or, at the very least, the RPG that started it all.

There's a great chance you weren't even born when all the great ideas ran out. Starting this thread was not on the list.

BTW, I just came up with an awesome idea for FFXI! How about if a COR shoots and misses a Colibri, a dog pops out of the brush and giggles?

You realize, of course, that they'll just sit as close to the screen as possible to hit them instantly.

I have 100+ merits and one job at 75. How you live with yourself with such a misunderstanding of the word "benchwarmer" will probably just amount to another meaningless post.

Been there for years, got four jobs at 75, and gear you'd cry over. What are you trying to do, impress people with your epic fail?

Would you agree that the vast majority of players do not recognize SMN as a melee job, at least, and therefore, by that definition of things, you would normally be stuck warming the bench? Smiley: grin

#24REDACTED, Posted: May 24 2008 at 9:36 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well sure, if I governed the way I play my job by the stupid ideas of others (that a job with mp = healer), I'd hate SMN as much as everyone else. Fortunately, I don't acknowledge that definition, and therefor am never warming the bench.

No, CM, you're right, death should be a horrible horrible thing. Here's an idea: every time you die, SE sends a guy named Guido to your house to hit you with a baseball bat. Die twice in a day and your character is deleted and SE charges your credit card for $500.

That'll show those crybabies!
