So as many who know me in-game and on these forums I have been going through some real-life issues and unable to play for the last few weeks. Quick recap for those who don't know my story.

About three months ago, I came home from work early because the network went down and there was nothing to do. When I drove to my house I noticed one of my best friend's (and fellow FFXI player) car in my driveway. I thought it was odd, but worrying didn't cross my mind. I figured maybe he left something here, or something.

I walked back looking for him and/or wife. When I walked into my bedroom my wife sat up in the bed topless. I guess when she realized it was me, she went pale and pulled the sheets to cover herself - I guess suddenly me seeing her naked was inappropriate. I just stood there frozen and confused for a minute. Without talking to my wife, I went back to see where Chris (my "friend") was. I went into my backyard, saw the fence gate open to the driveway (in Texas our driveways are in the back) and his car driving off.

Long story short, I moved out and hadn't been on the game in almost three weeks. I'm staying at my friends house, and yesterday I finally decided to relax a bit and play some FFXI. But when I logged on, I was in for a rude shock. My gear and gil were almost completely gone.

My first thought was I got hacked. Before doing much, I changed my password. Knowing it can take hours to get through to SE, I went ahead and put a call in so I could get being on hold started.

While on hold, I went back to the game. Logged back in and started seeing what gear had been salvaged. My heart sank when I saw I had no rare/ex gear either. It then hit me this may have nothing to do with RMT hackings. I went to a mail delievery box and there I saw 4 items of mine sent to my ex-friend.

Apparantly, my friend not only stole my wife, but while staying at my house got on my character just to ***** me over. I don't know what I did to him to deserve all this, but now I'm just sick.

Hopefully, any person pondering your friendship realizes it - don't allow yourself.

Probably did nothing at all to him.....beauties of being lesbian..don't gotta worry about situations like that.Smiley: frown

If you didn't use a restore you could probably ask SE for one of the more important items back..or a rollback (I guess they'll offer it to anyone outside of hacking.)

Best thing to do honestly is try to keep your real life together first then worry about FFXI.

Holy jumpin Jesus man O_O

I'm so so sorry to hear that...I know it's not much, but I imagine that SE would rollback your account, seeing as what happened to your character was on par with
a RMT hacking.

That's...deplorable. You have my sympathy.

You're a much cooler headed man than I am - If that situation had happened to me I'd likely butcher as many people involved as I could.

Then I'd be pissed about XI too - unless of course I was in jail/dead from the previous encounter.

People like to explain their situation..some do make it up but why not explain your situation fully? Of course obviously (as you just proven it) some won't give a damn..others would though.

#9REDACTED, Posted: Jun 27 2008 at 6:05 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well it's a fact that lots of people on the internet make things up to get sympathy and I don't mind that I don't care about the majority of these kinds of post because if I'm wrong then I know the person will have lots of sympathy in real life and won't be too bothered by random strangers on the internet not believing him/her.

Definitely.

I would be plotting sweet revenge...

Holy crap man. That bites on so many levels I can't even begin to start.

I'd hope SE gives you a rollback in this situation, since a theft is a theft whether it was an RMT or in this case, essentially breaking and entering.

Graspee: I've been in a similar situation and i'm guessing you haven't been. so basically STFU with that comment, he's probably a wreck and the last thing he needs is a dirtbag like yourself telling him he's "just looking for some sympathy". He's a real person with real feelings, that need to be expressed. Expressing it on forums where other REAL people are is in no way shameful. so GTFO. that comment was un-called for.

OP: Like i said i've been in a similar situation, and I hope you know that you cant let their actions affect you because they are selfish rotten people. take time to get your RL back together then worry about FFXI. I dont know what else to say other than find some real friends, cry on some shoulders, and bounce back twice as hard because YOU are the better person. In time you will be happy with yourself and your life again.

These days no matter what you say, someone, somewhere, is going to find a way to be offended. While I believe the freedom of speech to be a wonderful thing, there's always going to be a douchbag like Graspee who feel the need to cripple it. My opinion's always been, if it bothers you, don't do it/read it.

Anywho, as per your story, all I can say is I'm sorry. There's no reason you, or an person should be betrayed and hurt like that. And the worst part is, you cannot extract your revenge and make them feel for what they have done. At least until murder is no longer against the law.

Just keep your head up man, it'll get better eventually.

This is just a horrible experience, and I hope you can deal with it. Personally, I'd go over to that "friend"'s house, knock on his door and when he opens up, I'd go inside and log onto FFXI and take all your stuff back plus his stuff.

If he decides to try and stop you, beat the hell out of him.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. This is an MMORPG community and real life **** like that still happens to us. Best of luck getting things back on track.

Vawn, you're a freaking saint. The fact that you didn't do something violent, or at the very least- spiteful, just shows you're a better class of people than either of them.

Still, I'm sure that makes you feel no better about anything, I hope you get a rollback, and since you know who did it, and you're both local, I'd try my lucj at pressing charges for the FFXI part.

GL man.

You must not watch the evening news.

That sucks, Vawn. I'm not sure what I would do in that situation. Probably something along those lines because anger wouldn't be what I felt first. Shock, dreadful sadness, and then anger... but not anger first.

No matter how bad things get, my friend, they always get better. Chin up.

Not to continue the trend purposely but...
