So as many who know me in-game and on these forums I have been going through some real-life issues and unable to play for the last few weeks. Quick recap for those who don't know my story.
About three months ago, I came home from work early because the network went down and there was nothing to do. When I drove to my house I noticed one of my best friend's (and fellow FFXI player) car in my driveway. I thought it was odd, but worrying didn't cross my mind. I figured maybe he left something here, or something.
I walked back looking for him and/or wife. When I walked into my bedroom my wife sat up in the bed topless. I guess when she realized it was me, she went pale and pulled the sheets to cover herself - I guess suddenly me seeing her naked was inappropriate. I just stood there frozen and confused for a minute. Without talking to my wife, I went back to see where Chris (my "friend") was. I went into my backyard, saw the fence gate open to the driveway (in Texas our driveways are in the back) and his car driving off.
Long story short, I moved out and hadn't been on the game in almost three weeks. I'm staying at my friends house, and yesterday I finally decided to relax a bit and play some FFXI. But when I logged on, I was in for a rude shock. My gear and gil were almost completely gone.
My first thought was I got hacked. Before doing much, I changed my password. Knowing it can take hours to get through to SE, I went ahead and put a call in so I could get being on hold started.
While on hold, I went back to the game. Logged back in and started seeing what gear had been salvaged. My heart sank when I saw I had no rare/ex gear either. It then hit me this may have nothing to do with RMT hackings. I went to a mail delievery box and there I saw 4 items of mine sent to my ex-friend.
Apparantly, my friend not only stole my wife, but while staying at my house got on my character just to ***** me over. I don't know what I did to him to deserve all this, but now I'm just sick.
Hopefully, any person pondering your friendship realizes it - don't allow yourself.
