I've been sitting on this for about a week and I figured, eh, it's pretty close to being done, so I'll release it here. With great thanks to the pioneers that discovered the original information and the contributors to the Interactive CoP guide here, I give you For Glory:

http://promathia.runtimerepairs.com/

Every CoP mission from 1-1 to 8-4, every cutscene (except 5-3, having some trouble matching cutscenes to missions), and screenshots of key parts of the missions. Lots of appendix information planned too.

I'm a dreamer and a writer, not a webpage designer, so I realize the design is a bit spartan. Feel free to point out glaring HTML webpage errors here. Also, if I say something that you are 100% sure is an obvious lie about a mission (such as claming an enemy can't be slept when it, in fact, can), you can point that out too, and if I can get confirmation, I'll change it..

All of my strategies are based on my personal fights, and thus are geered towards the party I had. I tried to make the hints as vague as possible but I know I'm missing stuff. For example, I had a PLD tank in my static. I'm sure there are lots of neat tricks that a NIN should know about. All that said, I'm not accepting alterate strategies right now. I'm mainly concerned with getting the darn thing to work and work well. After all the HTML bugs are gone and I explain exactly how to get a map of Rivernse Site #B01 and exactly how to farm Shu'meyu Salt and all that stuff I want to include, THEN I will accept startegy tips.

Any and all contributions will be credited when I make the darn credits page. Simply leave your Character name and server, and I'll post that information along with your contribution on the credits page. If you want to remain anon, just say so.

Reviews, positive or otherwise, are always welcome. Please, tell me what you think!

Very nice guide Erecia! great job!

---

8-3: From my experience, the Zdei's in The Guantlet of Zdeis are not sleepable. I have also seen the Zdei's in the BC slept without ES. This was done by a Taru Blm75.

7-5: You need to do around 12000-12500 of damage to the "NPC" before he gives up.

7-4: the Ninja Tonberry in Carpenter's Landing can do over 3k of damage when it 2hr's. What we did was to have someone drag it (far) away from the rest of the group. As soon as you kill one of the other tonberries, the Nin tonberry will 2hr.

6-4: If you zone out of Sealion's Den (back to the Safehold), you will will get the long c/s when you enter the BC fight. Also, you get full HP and MP between each of the fights. Any negative status does not automatically wear, but at least you get HP and MP back.

Great additions, especially that HP total. That's the sort of statistic I really want to have but can't go research myself easily.

All the changes have been included and a bare-bones credit page added to the main page.

8-4: on the 2nd form. If you look below Promathia, you will sometimes see a red circle.. and sometimes a green circle.

Red circle = immune to physical attack
Green circle = immune to magic attack
No circle = not immune to attack

First off, excellent COP guide. It has helped my group out alot.

Just wanted to point out that on 5-3 Tenzen's path, after you beat the lvl 50 tower, you must go to the doctor, then to the guard house, then back to the doctor, and finally to the ??? in Batallia downs (checking it twice) before you can fight the NM in Delkfutts Tower. That's the only thing I found missing so I figured I'd point it out. Again, amazing guide and keep up the great work ^^

Great guide. Very detailed information in it (and has nice shiny pics too :D). ^^b

Don't worry about layout. It's well structured.

And noone cares about layout when you need good info. :P

Notes, probably in reverse order:

8-3: When Angels Fall

The red mage Ix'Zdei can also cast Bindga, Dispelga, and Silencega, and both types of Ix'Zdei can use level 1 spells for sure, possibly also level 2.

The move that causes Silence is Reactor Overheat, and is a frontal attack that causes medium damage.

The move that causes Petrification is Optic Induration, and is a frontal attack that causes heavy damage.

8-2: A Fate Decided

When Ix'Ghrah is in Humanoid form, in addition to normal Physical Attacks, it will use Vorpal Blade.

7-5: A Warrior's Path

Tenzen does not always use two melee weapon skills, followed by a ranged weapon skill. When I fought him, I actually ended up 'tanking' using Perfect Dodge. The first three weapon skills all missed, and Perfect Dodge does not stop ranged attacks.

Tenzen's hate pattern is slightly messed up when he's using his longbow (and it is a longbow, not a crossbow). Sometimes (and he can do this even if you're behind him. Git), he will fire off a shot at some random person, even if there's no reason for them to have hate, and promptly go back to attacking whoever he was attacking before.

Tenzen can use Meikyo Shisui multiple times through the course of the fight.

7-4: Calm Before The Storm

The Sea Monk NM does indeed use Hundred Fists.

Easy way to avoid the Ninja's Mijin Gakure killing everyone when the first cryptonberry dies is to make sure you kill the Ninja first.

6-4: One To Be Feared

Firstly, going to have to disagree on this being the hardest fight in the game. Once we got passed the Mammets, we went 1/1 on Omega and Ultima (NIN, RNG, BRD, WHM, BLM, BLM). Tenzen was a **** of a lot harder, as was 8-3.

Mammets have four jobs, not three. In addition to blm, war, and drg, they also have the empty handed job they start in, and will occasionally return to. This is also the job that uses Transmogrification (physical absorb).

Pile Pitch is not small damage. It will reduce your hp to about 10% of their total.

6-2: A Place To Return

The Detector-type mobs, whilst they seem identical, actually each have different special attacks. I don't recall what these attacks are though, or who uses which.

5-3: Louverance Path

The ENM method is a good way to get to the BC, but, if I remember correctly, regardless of whether or not you attempt the ENM, the moblin will not teleport you to the BC area a second time within 5 days.

5-3: Ulmia Path

Shikaree X is a BST/NIN, and uses a dagger, not an axe. You can tell it's a dagger 1. because she uses Evisceration, and 2. because you can later acquire the item X's Knife from a quest. Her pet is always a bunny.

5-3: Tenzen Path

The NM in Delkfutt's Tower uses magic depending on the current day.

5-2: Desires of Emptiness

None of the BC NMs aggro. You can walk around them and harass them all you like before engaging. People suggest Mea first because it's generally the more annoying to deal with. After the first one gets low, there does appear to be a set order though.

4-2: The Savage

"Mistmelts are RARE but not EX"
You have this backwards. They're ex, but not rare.

3-5: Darkness Named

Best place to farm chips is just inside the entrance of the tower in the northwest of Beaucedine Glacier. Just kill the regular diremites. Much less hassle than any of the other towers, and the drop rate is pretty good.

That's it for now.

Wow, nice site, great job. Will be very helpful when I go back to try to finish the Promies, last time I went as BST/WHM, think I'll go as WAR/NIN with a regular group next time around. Still have Holla and Mea to do.

Excellent guides!

5-2: If you attack Mea first, Dem wakes up next, then Holla. If you attack Holla first, Mea wakes up first, then Dem.

3-5: You can see which tiles will disappear before you drop into the arena.
http://photobucket.com/albums/y172/Valyana/CoP/?action=view&current=tiles.jpg
If you are fighting Diabolos in one corner, the three squares in the opposite corner are outside Nightmare range, so your healer can stand over there and wake people up. Also, with both Fowl Aubade and Barsleepra on, we woke up in a few seconds.
Diabolos has other TP moves besides Nightmare.
Ultimate Terror: AOE absorb several attributes (counter with Erase/Dispel, or don't bother).
Camisado: Single-target damage and knockback.
Noctoshield: Phalanx (dispel/finale this).
He also casts Dark-elemental spells: Sleep II, Sleepga, Bio II, Blind, Drain, Aspir.

2-5: I think these are all the special attacks that the different forms have:
All Mammet forms: Tremorous Tread (AoE minor damage and stun).
Sword: Velocious Blade (5x attack, major damage), Sonic Blade (single target high damage), Scission Thrust (forward low damage)
Staff: Psychomancy (AoE MP drain!!), Mind Wall (magic attacks), all tier 1 -ga nukes.
Polearm: Percussive Foin (forward medium damage), Microquake (single target high damage), Gravity Wheel (AoE high damage).
Hand: Transmogrification (absorb physical attacks).
Do *NOT* lock the mammet you're fighting in Hand form with Yellow Liquid; it's the only form that uses Transmogrification, so while it's less dangerous than the other forms, it also dies much more slowly.

4-2: Barstonra+Earth Carol means very little damage from AoEs.
Geotic Breath (ground): earth-elemental breath attack
Bai Wing (in air): wind? aoe elemental damage
Ochre Blast (in air): earth aoe elemental damage
Absolute Terror (ground): single target Terror
I've heard rumors of Spike Flail, but fortunately didn't see it.
He didn't use Touchdown when we forced him down with a Mistmelt, only when he landed due to damage. Touchdown is magic damage (it was affected by Shell and Magic Defense Bonus), but I don't know what element; evidently not earth.

7-4: Some Blood Pacts are physical, some are magic. All Astral Flow BPs are magic damage; the level 70 attack BPs are all physical.

Is there any information on these "CoP Rings"? I'd be interested in finding out what they're stats are.

Tamas Ring - usually chosen by mages
Rajas Ring - usually chosen by melee
Sattva Ring - usually chosen by tanks

Each of these rings' attributes change as you hit different levels.

Example: HP+15~30 means:

at level 30, you get +15 HP
at level 45, you get +20 HP
at level 60, you get +25 HP
at level 75, you get +30 HP

You can choose only 1 of these (ever).

Yeah, Erecia's guide is much more complete than yours, Queuebicks... but yours has all the strategies records from many people, with is equally useful.

I'm always refering to both your thread and Erecia's site when people ask for CoP information =)

Very good guide indeed, my sincere compliments.

One comment though. In the prommie area (1/2-1/3), u say bst is not very effective.

I tend to disagree with it, we beat al of them all bst and with bst-smn team only. Not that i doubt ur knowledge or wisdom, but people who read it, tend to avoid bst cause they read they suck in prommies, but they dont.

This is the mission most debate about. You found it easy. I found it extremely hard and found Tenzen to be a wuss. Really depends on your party setup and the players behind them but I definately feel 6-4 is way harder then 7-5. We had PLD, DRK, MNK, RDM, SMN, WHM to beat 6-4 and DRK, MNK, SAM, DRG, SMN, BLM for 7-5.

Greate Guide! Delightfully irreverant. Good pick-me up after you've lost to an annoying BCNM a number of times >_>.

Only thing I wanted to add, You actually get a title right after beating Diabolos I believe it's "Dream Breaker" but I'm only 70% sure if that't the correct title. As soon as you talk to the doctor or start 4-1 though, it gets overwritten to "Transient Dreamer".

Fun guide! I plan on using it the rest of the way through (along with the interactive promathia gudie which also kicks ^^).

Oh wow. People liked it. o_O I wrote this mainly to amuse myself at first but quickly realized I was on for something so I decided to make it for everyone. When I first did CoP the existing guides were very bare-bones, frusteratingly brief, and completely silent on major issues with the missions. I wanted to be one of the first to compile most of the known information in one place.

No one cares, but this is my guide, so I get to rant a little.

As I got closer to the end of CoP, I realized I was quitting the game. I'll spare you most of the sob story, but basically I've been 75 for a while now and met most of my goals with a small number of friends and without major LS help. The drama of people wanting my help when I just wanted to go research CoP or level another eventually caught up with me. I ran out of CoP, having beat it all, and all that was left was filling in the holes that my memory wasn't able to on its own. I got kicked out of my LS for being unhelpful (*snicker*) and found that a lot of people I considered friends were really just after getting items and didn't want to have a good time with me after all.

The game stopped being fun for me after CoP. I had beaten all the missions, leveled a job to 75, gotten a lot of gear I wanted... and lost a lot of friends in the process. So I stopped logging in and stopped updating the Guide.

It is an imperfect guide, and it always will be imperfect. Eventually I'll get around to adding the details people suggested. To the people that objected when I said things like "BST isn't effective" and "this mission is really hard", well, that's natural. If you found ways to prove me wrong like that, more power to you. I wrote the guide for people that had no idea what they were doing and just wanted the combination that was most likely to work. Of course, real players that truely understand job combinations can make anythig work. I still belieeve that any decently balanced party can go all the way if the players are dedicated and serious.

I don't think I'll be doing any of the major appendixes. I have a lot of pictures for the "Monsters of Lumoria" and "Tavnazian Safehold Guide" pages, but meh, I'm not up to doing the resarch required to make those pages pro. If someone wants to make those kinds of pages and contribute them to the guide, send me a private message on this forum and we can work something out.

I knew I was quitting somewhere in my mind. This guide is my legacy. I wanted to do something to help everyone before I go. I hope that people find it intertaining and useful.

Wow, this guide is awesome, love the pics! Very helpful, concise, and often quite entertaining. ^^ Sorry to hear about the reasons that led you to quit the game, I hope everything works out for you.

We all hope that you do end up adding any other info/pics that you have collected! And if not, thanks for all your hard work and it's a great legacy as is. /salute Smiley: bowdown
