I got Transformers last sale. I fired it up and thought oh this looks pretty. Hey this is kind of fun. Played it for 30 minutes. Have not played since. No idea why. Smiley: frown

Because all things Transformers belong tucked away in a box labeled "1987", never to be seen again. It's a lot better that way.

Darksiders is very fun, highly recommend it. It's a bit light in terms of story, but it's pretty much Zelda with God of War combat. There is a sequel coming out this year, too.

If you don't have a 360 controller you'll need a controller emulator in order to use one with the game. Yet another check against console to PC ports of games.

Wait. It's a PC game... that requires a 360 controller?

If you want to use a controller, yes. Otherwise mouse and keyboard are still an option.

Alan Wake is $15 from GOG.com

Yes, the recently released Alan Wake (Jan 2012) and not some 1997 version. GOG is expanding into new releases as well as old classics.

Arkham Asylum was the same way. Any PC game that was originally a 360 port will give you issues if you try to play with anything but a Microsoft controller.

That doesn't surprise me, as annoying as it is.

I interpreted the first post as saying it HAD to be played with a 360 controller, with keyboard/mouse not an option.

Steam also has Portal 2 for $6.80 in case you've been in a coma/suspended animation in an abandoned lab for the last century or so and missed it.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare is available for pre-order on Steam for 10% off ($13), 25% off ($11) if you own the first game through Steam. Good combo if you've never played the first game.

Also Botanicula is the most misleading game title yet. Why couldn't it be about a vampire that feeds on chlorophyll?

PS3 and PC controllers use DirectInput. Microsoft made a new standard for their XBox controllers, XInput. Some PC controllers have a compatability switch, but otherwise conflicts can range from not recognizing the controller (most PC ports) to playing perfectly fine until some part of the level design tells it to start glitching out (Sonic Generations, you'd start sidestepping at the same places in the level). Note that I have yet to see one of their PC ports that actually talks about this requirement, it's left for people to buy the game and be confused unless they dig around forums.

There are various shells to convert a DI controller to XI. MotioninJoy is reccommended by many for PS3 controllers but I find it doesn't work with my Logitech PC one (Logitech has compatibility switches these days, but my controller is old). I use X360ce. It needs to be put in the directory of every game you use it for, but once you generate the appropriate files for one you can just copy/paste. No complaints with it.

Gamersgate is having a sale on Batman games this weekend.

Arkham Asylum GoTY edition - $4.99
Arkham City - $11.98
Lego Batman - $6.78

There are some Mac versions available too, but they cost significantly more. I picked up Arkham Asylum since I never got around to playing it. City is coming out as a GoTY edition soon, so I'll wait for that.

Psychonauts for $3.99 from Amazon.

Requires Steam and a Steam account. It's just the code. Only available in the U.S.

If you haven't played Psychonauts, buy this game.

Skyrim is 33% off on Steam through the 14th. Still makes it $40 but its a good enough seller that it doesn't go on sale that often.

Protip for Amazon: Out-of-US buyers can use a false US billing address and buy games that way. Use your correct credit card info and address, only use the fake US address for your personal information. I know a couple people in =4 took advantage of their Dragon Age sale that way.
