My Thoughts exactly. But a little more modern and sexy.
I hope it allows you to lay it flat without blocking off any air flow vents.
Though, not exactly that different in appearance from the Xbox One.

It's a rhombus shape. From the front it looks rectangular, from the sides, the top plane is shifted back about one and a half inches from the bottom. Top/Left side is glossy, glassy in look.

So... has Sony done anything else besides finally show off their console? because I'm not getting a lot from this stream yet...
Not really. They've shown off the physical console and have done a lot of **** stroking. A lot of statistics.

They showed the console. Talked about PS3 and PSVita games. And talking about their integration into Sony Pictures and Music to expand to the non-game market.

I don't think they are going to touch on any details of the future of the PSN or anything dealing with DRM. They have no reason to. It'd just ruin their relative high compared to Xbox One.

I'm watching the official stream and it isn't much better. It's already bumped me down from "Best" to "High" quality and it still seems to hang quite a bit.
As far as what I've seen, The Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls look good, but we already knew about those. So far it's a bit underwhelming. It won't take much to beat out the XBone's presentation, but it doesn't look like they're going to pull it off.

Although I don't want to hear about streaming, it's interesting to think that BOTH consoles are paving the way for everything being on-demand direct from publishers. Maybe one day we won't have to pay $120 a month for cable to watch 5 shows on 3 channels.

Thing is, in some ways they have way less to talk about. Sony has actually revealed their specs, their gaming-specific features, etc.
The X-Bone reveal focused so heavily on non-gaming features, it took until today for us to even know what it would mean for gaming. And I say "until today" tongue-in-cheek, of course, since they didn't actually address anything they needed to address...
But Sony has shown games before now, they've released the specs, they've talked about features.
If they're smart, they'll announce gamer-friendly systems in opposition to the X-Bone. If they don't have any, they'll keep silent and still win out that battle while they have internal conversations about it.
Otherwise, all that's really expected is info about PSN/Store, the Vita, and games.

Wrong those days aren't now unless you're streaming illegally. I mean watching new shows, up to date seasons of things, etc. Breaking bad's most recent season still isn't on netflix. And new seasons of ANYTHING are only available on cable or, again, illegally through pirating or streaming services.
