To Keep Skilling Up or Rack Up Guild Points?Follow

I would keep going with the skilling up while also building guild points. The higher rank items have higher daily quotas.

However, you may want to look ahead at the next 8 possible guild point items before turning in a test item to go up a new rank. Some of the guild point items at level 71+ have high quotas, but the ingredients required to make them are hard to obtain. You may find that many of the guild point items at the higher levels are either not worth crafting because the cost is so high or you simply cannot get a hold of the ingredients to begin with.

Edit: I'm specifically referring to Cooking with the above paragraph. Though looking ahead to see what new guild point items could be requested for a new rank is probably a good idea for any craft.


Artisan's Advantage only reduces the chances of you losing synthesis materials if your synthesis attempt fails. It doesn't improve skill up rates (you're probably thinking of Martial Master, which is specifically for battle related skill ups). Keep in mind that Artisan's Advantage only kicks in if you have Image Support AND Signet.

I used ffrecipe.com back whenever I do guild point building. In addition to a page showing the guild point item for the day for all the guilds (http://www.ffrecipe.com/guildPattern.php?lang=en), you can also look at a list of synthesis recipes for each guild, broken down by rank. To see these lists, click on the Search "tab", and click on the Quick Search link that corresponds to the guild and rank you want to check.

The description for a recipe also includes guild point information in blue, if the item can be requested by the guild. There are at most 8 items per rank that the guild can request (though some ranks have fewer than 8). By scanning the list for items with guild point information, you can get a pretty quick idea of what the guild can ask for.

Wiki also has guild point information included on the page for the item itself. However, I don't know of an overview page on wiki that will let you find all such recipes quickly and easily. I have no idea if Alla has a similar resource.

I didn't want to create a new thread, so I'm going to ask here ... on top of cooking, I have also started gardening things that seem to come up quite a bit in recipes, or things I know I will need in future recipes (things I eat and will make a lot of). I have also started fishing, but it seems to be horribly slow skilling up. I figure, the more I can make, grow, fish, etc for myself, the more gil I am saving. I chose cooking specifically for saving (and fun) because I tend to eat foods that cost a ton on AH.

I have cooking to 65, should finish up the colored eggs and 68 tonight, plus get my guild points for Raw Fish Handling!! I am excited to start making lower level sushi!!

Well, I now have the crafting bug! I have pulled guides for all crafts for 0-60, since I plan on taking cooking to 100 (I really want to make my own crimson jelly)! My question is this, other then alchemy and woodworking, is there another craft that I should concentrate on that will help my cooking experience? From what I have seen, these 2 crafts seem to be the most useful, even for the few crafted items I will need to keep costs down. I would eventually like to take all to 60 just to have them there, but since cooking is my main goal, I want to start with those that will work with cooking.

TL/DR: What crafts work well with cooking to keep costs down?

Cooking and Woodworking

There are a few recipes, but nothing major that combines with cooking. I'd just do a quick run through of all the cooking recipes to see which need additional crafts.
