I think Pythia Sash NQ/HQ are useful. MND+5 Conserve MP+4 Enmity-4, and an extra 1 to each for the HQ. Cleric's belt might be good too, MND+6 and mp+40 and +3(i think?) hmp.

There's a 7 mind piece out now. With I think better or close to same mp as clerics belt. I have to recheck but I remember seeing it.

I can see the appeal to Pythia Sash, but honestly, I've never been that impressed by it. I roll with Austerity Belt which I see as being roughly equal and much easier to get. In particular I really like the extra CMP from Austerity Belt, which I see as being one of the most under-rated WHM stats in history, although it's been less useful since Abyssea became popular.

Aside from Austerity, I sometimes use Swift Belt for haste. Also for enfeebles I use Cleric's Belt, which if you have a Pythia you could probably just use that.

Really, there aren't any great belts. The only other thing that comes to mind is a complete pain to obtain, and that's Siegel Sash which is great for your enhancing spells.

Is the enmity down on a belt like Penitent's rope mostly useless now with other gear options and Atma's? I was thinking of using Swift for Haste/Erase and the like and Penitent's for Cures.

It depends, just be aware that enmity down has a cap of 50, including atma. So if you use Minikin and have four enmity down merits, that's 24 right there. You could only benefit from, at most, 26 enmity down on equipment.

Even then, enmity -50 is pretty drastic and is usually not necessary. Before Abyssea, I rolled with about -30 and it was never a problem. In Abyssea, I just stopped paying attention to it completely. If I pull hate, it won't be off a DD that's for sure, and if hate is on something other than a DD then I actually WANT to pull hate. I'd rather have the monster attacking me than say... a BLM. Hell, I can actually tank pretty well thanks to nearly unlimited MP and tons of fast cast from atmas. I've avoided quite a few wipes by simply kiting or even face-tanking things while the DD's unweaken. (Bukhis comes to mind... that evil bastard)

Siegel Sash isn't hard to get.

I use Siegel/Cognizant/Goading for haste. the enm+ on goading is for the most part irrelevant as long as you aren't with gimps and you yourself have the other gear/atma to offset the enmity on it

Ahh I didn't know about the 50 cap on enmity down either. Thanks for the info!

Well there's hard as in difficulty, and there's hard as in tedious. I was referring to the latter. Drops from a T3 VNM, which are always a pain to get to.

And yeah I'm hoping to get a Goading soon, got a Lacovie pop I just need to go do it. At least Lacovie KIs can be farmed in amber chest farms, there's no shortcut to the Siegel Sash.

I currently cure in Acerbic Sash (I'm ~6 enmity away from cap with minikin and no waist, so Acerbic fills it in nicely putting me over the cap) for cures.

The -7MND/VIT really is not noticed inside abyssea for Cure5/6.

Everything else, I use swift/siegel/austerity/penitent's

EDIT: wow, sorry about the necro-post.

Wow I'm sorry... I'm a rather empathic person in general, if there's logic behind a point of view I try to support it as valid even if I argue against it... but if I saw a WHM wearing Acerbic, I would have to restrain myself from ridiculing them.

I thought it was bad when I heard about people using both Novia Earring + Trooper Ring at the same time, but this belt makes those items look godly.

It's to cap off -enmity, the -7MND/VIT really does not impact cure5/6 (and cure3) as much as capped -enmity would inside abyssea.

Eventually I'd like to get out of Acerbic and use Austerity or Pythia, but for now I'll use Acerbic until I can cap -enmity inside abyssea.

iirc there was less than a 15HP cured difference between using acerbic and using no belt.

Edit: I just realized I should rebuild my cure setup now that I have orison earring; I can toss this Acerbic Sash and use Pythia Sash [Or spectral belt] + Delta Earring and still get the -enmity cap, but without finishing cast in loloquac.

That's exactly what I was afraid of. Just capping it out for the sake of capping it out is foolish. Enmity down is not a "more the merrier" kind of stat for WHM, you only need as much as you need. Enmity-50 is complete overkill, especially in Abyssea where people do 4 times as much damage and thus have much higher VE (volatile enmity), and have plenty of HP so that you can exploit the heck out of Cure V. You can heal naked in Abyssea and not pull hate. Even if Minikin had no enmity down, you could do it naked.

Sell off that Acerbic and start using the Penitent's Rope you are already carrying around for now. Then if you'd like, look into something like Pythia. Honestly though, Penitent's does the trick just fine, and is 10 times better than Acerbic.

I cap out -Enmity on the chance that after a hate resetting move that lowers the tank's HP enough to warrant a cure, that cure won't pull hate off the tank's 1 melee round's worth of hate. Nobody likes repositioning.

Plus I think that it was capped before I gave it a moment's thought anyway, so I left it that way. I find it hard to say no to keeping something useful at cap when it's already there, and nothing at-hand to outdo it.
