Mipps, whilst I agree with you, I kinda understand where Fyn is coming from too.
Whenever you choose to cast Auspice, you're doing what you do with any other AoE. I have a similar issue with Cura. Now, I agree totally that the less people there are involved, the more Auspice is going to make a difference and, that now there is an enhancement to it that we should use it. I'm trying to reprogramme myself to use it more consistently rather than the odd circumstance, as +15 or +20 cannot be ignored.
Pre-Abyssea I would use Auspice on specific mobs or in specific situations only. I agree with Fyn that you had to weigh up the cost/benefit of the spell. You can pretty much always start with it but if there are 18 people smacking one mob, especially if they're not all getting auspice (pre EAF feet) then it probably didn't make enough difference... to bother.
Auspice was pretty awesome for Salvage for example but I never bothered in Dynamis. If you have Misery up because you're likely to be hit with spammy AoE status then you should hit Auspice anyway. In situations like for example Bukhis, you don't want to lose your cruor buffs or for mobs which do big AoE damage then I don't always think its worth running in to cast Auspice in a full alliance situation. Whilst much of Abyssea is low manned (and I do a lot of it outside ls events) we still have full alliance events. Sure inside Abyssea we tend now to split up across mobs but not always or we need the proc'ers so end up not bothering. Also, we still do stuff outside of Abyssea.. admittedly not as much as we used to!
Would I use Auspice in a duo? Absolutely. Should I use Auspice 80% of the time? Probably. But I get where Fyn is coming from - WHM is so powerful as a healer that its quicker and safer to slap on the fix sometimes.
With the arrival of the EAF and the move to more low man stuff I think it should now be a staple but I'll be honest and say it hasn't always been for me. Let alone the hassle of being a Barspells girl, so wanting solace up. Unfortunately what WHM is best for in Abyssea in larger group settings is effective cure bombing. No one can keep up with 50% cure potency Cure V and VI with EAF +2 body. We're designed to be pure HP machines. Sure, I haste/na/buff/enfeeble/nuke etc and love the chance to use all aspects of my job but honestly, in Abyssea - its almost the case that unless you're lowmanning you're a curebot. The biggest, baddest curebot there is.
I'm being a little flippant, people know how seriously I take my WHM...
