I was hoping someone in here could answer a few questions about staff elemental weapon skills, please. I'm referring to Cataclysm because it has great modifiers and seems to be the best choice.
1) Does dark/pluto's staff give any bonus to this weapon skill, as it does dark elemental damage?
2) Does magic attack gear (such as Moldavite Earring) give any bonus?
3) Does magic accuracy gear give any bonus?
4) What staff would you recommend (besides the obvious Martial Staff and Carbuncle Pole)?
5) Stack strength or intelligence for this?
6) Best atma for Cataclysm going to be Cosmos, Ultimate, Smiting Blow?
7) Best sj for spamming Cataclysm, with or without brew?
8) Should I use or avoid any job abilities? In particular I'm wondering about berserk and counterstance.
9) Best food?
10) Any other tips or tricks? I'm planning on doing my first brew in the next week or two and I want to do it on monk.

1 - Pluto/Dark staff does give cataclysm a boost in damage.
2 - Yes it does.
3 - I'm not sure about this, thinking elemental ws would have innate high macc to make it moot but not sure about will it help to see less resists.
4 - Pluto/Dark.
5 - Stack Int/Mab whenever you can, otherwise str would suffice.
6 - Correct.
7 - Without brew it would be sam and depending if your popping isl chests you can do 2 cataclysms in a row. With brew most likely be /rdm or /blm for matk bonus.
8 - Pretty much since you wouldn't be doing much damage to make it worthwhile outside of cataclysm.
9 - Unless there was a recent matk food, use cream puff.
10 - Don't brew rani or shinryu with cataclysm if you can, dark on dark doesn't go so well but it can get the job done as I done for a friend for shinryu win.

Thank you for the replies. I'm afraid I'm still a bit confused on number 8, but that's probably due to me not phrasing the question well.
What I was trying to ask was: given that you get such amazing boosts from brew, do you want to give up all the defense by using counterstance? Also, given that you are probably at 999 attack, do you get any benefit from using berserk or do you just lose a huge chunk of defense?

Even with the Def loss from Counterstance and Berserk, you'll still be basically invincible. Only things that can really kill you are insta-death moves, doom, and charm/petrify/amnesia/etc which waste brew time.
