I'm sitting here at work and a thought came to mind.
If you, for some odd reason, were to off-hand either one of these weapons, while main-handing another katana, would you still be able to use Blade: Hi/Metsu? Also, would the aftermath effects still kick in.
Reason I ask was, I was thinking (dreaming) of getting a Kikoku after finishing my Kannagi and wondered how it would be to have Kikoku/Kannagi as a katana set and if I could Blade Hi and still have the aftermath effect.

No, same rule applies to offhand weapons you don't gain access to any of the ws of the weapon you put offhand.

You don't even get the added attack from an offhand kikoku.

From what I've heard, Kikoku is generally better main-handed outside Abyssea while Kannagi is generally better main-handed inside Abyssea. Confirm/deny?
IDK how much Metsu has been improved with the higher level Kikoku; that might factor into things somewhat.

Yeah thanks to the nerf offhanding either removes weaponskill/aftermath/stats (though Kannagi still gives you AGI+ offhand while Kikoku gives no attack or paralyze go figure...)
Metsu is still weak to me, it's ok outside Abyssea and worthless inside; maybe depending on mob but Hi is comparable to Metsu outside just eyeballing them. They boosted the 3x damage proc rate on the 95 Kikoku but it's still lower than the aftermath on Kannagi, the only bonus is you don't need aftermath to proc but on the same note even if you ws @ 100% with Kannagi you can keep ODD up at least 90% of the time.
To me Kannagi/Kamome is still best inside Abyssea, and if I use Kikoku outside I started using Ban offhand since the really nice low delay lets Kikoku hit more often and because crit does nothing for Metsu.
