Always been a Physical Blu pretty much curious anyone care to share experience and gearing as a nuking blu? Looking to see if I have to break down and level a nuker class finally or is it worth gearing up a nuker on blu can some of the new spells like blazing bound hit the mark if geared correctly and at what cost lol....

My best experience as a nuker on Blue has been spamming regurgitation and corrosive ooze. Both of these spells have good ratios on MP to damage(with solid gear). You'll never launch giant damaging spells, but constantly casting will allow you to keep up with the total damage of even well geared black mages. This is mostly because they need to rest alot, but also they often have to stop casting for fear of hate generation. Those 2 blue spells are virtually hateless and you can spam them without fear. Acrid Stream is another solid spell that adds magic def down which is a boon to everyone casting. The worse your tank is and the longer the battle goes, the better you will fair in a parse against BLM. Make sure the mob you are fighting isnt resistant to water, otherwise you'll be doing alot of unimpressive damage.

Cool yeah throwing up on mobs from a nice distance is cheap fun especially from behind lol. Just have to break out my water staff does weather effect it? We are starting to be able cast weather spells with /sch wondering if its worth it? <3 fast pants + desert boots = go go speed racer in a kite fight.

Hmmm. Found these not to bad at all for aoe fun:

I used to do it in sea and a few other things once in awhile, but stopped bothering after I leveled rdm. The last thing I used it for was Splitting Heirs forever ago. But I don't know that I'd ever bother leveling rdm past 76.

I think I did a ~700 mind blast on fafnir with a fairly crappy set on a magic burst once, so that was cool.

Oh, and cronos in apollyon I used magic, but it was pretty much exclusively heat breath which is easier to carry gear for and he resisted water pretty badly for me.

Could easily top that with similar buffs; full Teal etc really isn't conducive to strong damage Maelstroms/Leafstorms.

Additional effects on some of our nukes are at least as valuable as the damage dealt. For example, Acrid Stream's MDB down is a great tool for enhancing everyone's damage in a manaburn setup. Our agas work like SMN's AF Blood Pacts in that damage is not reduced when they hit multiple targets, which is nice for things like killing Mother Globe's adds on the initial pull.

Our nukes won't spike nearly as high as a BLM can but you'll do consistent, MP-efficient damage. Regurgitation and Blastbomb make very strong soloing tools (read: how I got some of my spells, killed a few NMs, etc), and Regurgitation's low-hate properties are situationally beneficial. If you need a job for big shots (magic bursts and such) I'd probably look elsewhere, but BLU isn't a bad nuker on its own.

Now if they'd just give us something better than HQ staves...

Sadly it takes a lot of good and expensive gear to make our magic spells shine. Some of them are rather awesome though.

I've seen accounts of Regurgitation reaching 550+ damage, which is pretty good for it's MP cost. People have basicly solo'd NM's only a RDM could take out before just with that. A good refresh effect, and a little luck on the bind duration, and you could keep your attacks up for just about forever.

But yeah, there's no real easy way to do it. It's expensive as ****. roughly 100 MND, 110 INT and 38% MATK just barely gives you 540 damage regurgitations. Perhaps some better gear will become available that will make this easier as the levels go up. Before this, nothing short of Salvage gear and mostly +1's could get you there. Which is, well, just not worth the gil if you plan to use it for just a single spell.
