Ok, so here are the results:
Featherstorm on level 0 Bees. 4/5 Enchainnment, full merits, and random-ass kiting gear(not my spellcasting set).
base: 622
CA: 757
With Mavi Kavuk +1 and CA: 832
Must wear the hat during the casting of the spell going off with CA, and not when you activate the JA.
Should be fun in my next Abyssea party.
Any ideas for designing a real test?

2.5x stats instead of 2x? That's my hypothesis. By the way, how sad is it I've only been on like twice since the update and I'm still at 81 :/

I had a friend test this for me since I dont have yet and he got results while just having hat on during ja.
I came up with like a 2.625 multiplier instead of x2 for CA with his limited testing on the hat.

I did a quick test this morning, and you don't have to have it on during JA. Only during the spell being used with CA.
Did he do his testing before the maintenance update? That the only reason I can think of that might give him different results, because I tried all the possibilities.
He did it just last night and set me the results, so this is second hand info until I get mine....which will be a while since I burn my limited stone trying for legs.

Doc I thought we found that it does NOT have to be on during the cast, pop on for the CA and macro in the maats cap. I could be wrong as I did not record the results from vent.
Weird. What spell was he using? If he only did it a few times he might have gotten a crit that spiked his damage (for example, my first hat and CA was 1150ish, then the rest were 832.... I did each test like four or five times and occasionally spikes would happen)
But yeh, I tried CA with no head as a baseline, hat during both JA and spell, then hat only during JA activation, and then hat only during spell. Pretty clearly it was only during spell.
If anyone with a hat wants to chime in.... it'll take all of ten mins to confirm.

Well, either way, at least it's not the worst thing to wear if it has to be left on. Although, it's going to make some really annoying macros for anyone not using spellcast that doesn't need the accuracy boost.

The boost to CA took affect when the hat was taken off. After taking the Mavi head off, no head piece took its place, naked slot.

I recognize the sample size is sh*t, but it's 6am and the 2min recast on CA isn't helping. Short conclusion seems to be that damage is increased while Mavi Kavuk +1 is equipped while casting a spell under CA. Doesn't seem to work to just use it with CA and gear swap after. It's not clear whether this is a potency increase or increase in stat modifiers.
If anyone who understands the math better than I wants to devise a more accurate test (including a way to determine if it's a potency or stat mod increase) I'd be happy to run it over the next couple days.
Regarding the Flown the Coop quest, make sure you're doing the quest with at least 2 people in a party, you can cut the average time almost in half. When one person catches the bird everyone gets credit and can turn in the quest, so whoever is not going after the bird can just wait by Brutus and get a head start zoning out. By the time one person gets back to the chocobo spot the other should just be making it to Brutus to flag the quest. The run in which you catch the bird takes 5-6 minutes but the run your partner catches only takes you 2 minutes. Can be done with at least 6 people like this, haven't tried alliance. Also teaming up means you don't have to wait to trade greens if people are spamming it as much as they are here. Took me 148 runs over 2 days to get 8 Mavi, 8 Creed, 6 Aoidos and 18! Tantra.
