Why don't you just do it on your RNG? For one thing, you have access to cheaper ammo so unlocking Detonator is less of a gil sink, and for another, if you know anyone with Savage Blade or another WS on the Fragmentation slot, you can make Light with Heavy Shot so it goes faster.

only reason i dont want to unlock it on rng is cause i just reach 70 cor and have access to leave as /bst. so was gonna kill 2 birds with one stone kinda thing, exp and break gun at same time.

Once your COR dings 71 and can equip it, yes you could do it this way.

Unless you've had a slew of incredibly bad parties and want to avoid them like the plague, you shouldn't need to solo to get EXP, surely.

Far easier to unlock the weapon on COR especially if you have a high level NPC or a friend. Set NPC to fighter role. Use joyeuse, SAM roll and DNC roll. Beat up on crabs and skillchain with your friend or NPC. Use tin bullets for WS which are 1k/stack to make.

The problem with trying to unlock with RNG is that you don't have healing capability unless you burn all your TP with DNC sub which is counter productive. COR is far more selfsustaining.

Actully RNG/DNC isn't as counter productive as you might think with the right melee weapon, if you've got anything that attacks multiple times (m.kris, k.club, ridill) it's really easy to stay alive on crabs using drain samba only, and really, if you're doing the whole melee for TP then WSing thing without a weapon that attacks multiple times I think that could be considered far more counter productive than using some TP on a samba or waltz every now and then. Try it before you knock it or you kinda just look like an idiot to those that have.

As for breaking the gun on COR, I started the quest on RNG and broke the gun on COR as I lvled it. It has the same base dmg as martial gun just without the TP bonus, so I didn't get many complaints using it in parties. If you were going to solo it on COR (which I can understand wanting to do, some people out there are really retarded) COR/BST works, but when I solo on COR it's COR/DNC with m.kris using samurai roll for TP, and dancer's roll and sambas to keep your HP up. You do pretty well like that without giving up too much TP to keep yourself alive. FoVs in Cape Terrigan would probably be a good spot to try if you're going to be doing it solo, you get the buffs, and the extra xp from completing pages, and a couple of the pages have you kill crabs.

Most of those are much more challenging to get than a joyeuse and you still don't have a DNC roll and SAM roll that a COR would have.

Agreed 100%. I've done a lot of weapon breaking for for Coffinmaker, Gun of Trials, and Nyzul weapon on COR with NPC. Don't discount SAM and DNC rolls (or even SAM and WAR rolls for max TP gain if you think you don't need the DNC roll Regen), they help a ton. They hit NPCs, and if you get a friend to help out you'll be flying through the WS points.

Cost is a non-issue. If you're breaking weapons, use cheap bullets. I know this forum has scared some people into thinking you shouldn't even OWN anything but Steel, but this is the place for garbage bullets.

This is the only reason to go with RNG over COR - ability to make a level 3 SC depending on your partner. If you don't have an appropriate partner though, you don't have this advantage. Once you have Detonator, COR gets Light so it's easier to break Quicksilver/Coffinmaker on COR than it is for Gun of Trials.

BOOOO. Don't f'ing break your weapons in exp/merit parties. Guess what, people aren't using Martial for the DMG - they use it for the TP bonus. A "Martial Gun without the TP bonus" is a gimpy POS. You'd be better off using a variety of other guns - Corsair's, Coffinmaker (unlocked), Shark Gun, Murderer (even without the paired earring, the R.Acc+8 outweighs 1 DMG).

You might not have got many complaints, but that's either because people were ignorant or afraid to lose rolls. You were still gimp though. Unless you're playing with friends who know you're breaking a weapon, don't pull it out in an exp party.
