Has anyone seen any info on this gun yet; Such as proc rate? Seems to me 51dmg makes it almost as good as the Mayhem MAB gun for QD and a killer gun to /ra with. (Barring Arrmageddon- I'm on the final 50 gem trial)

Also I can't find any information on trial 1765: Kill 30 Quetzalli. Any info would be appreciated.

So far no news on this as no one has found Quetzalli.

Good luck with the 50 Gems... I left my gun at the fork for Armageddon and Spitfire until Gems become easier to get or Quetzalli is found and hopefully not a pain to kill.

MAB Mayhem is also the best Leaden Salute Gun.

I think I might go this route with my blue steel rather than the OAT gun. Less TP but more damage per shot and higher WS. Don't know what those last mobs are though.

My thinking is this. It will assuredly take some time to gather all 50 gems for the Lazer Gun, So in the mean time why not work on a better gun then the 47dmg Magnatus. The 51 occ 2x Dmg looks great but with no info on Quatzali the 45dmg +8MAB looks like a great alternative for QD.

Guess we'll have to wait this out.

^this. Pretty much what I'm going to do as it is attainable without much help besides the stupid sheep ~_~.

Based on the scaling from 75-80 this might see up to MAB+12-24 which would be very nice indeed. Though with the lack of new weapons be it synthed or dropped I'm wondering if this is SE's answer to weapons for 80-99, I hope not because this is a pain for most people playing.

Id rather just work on one gun that I know is going to be pretty good isntead of wasteing time on others. Empyerean weapons are going ot be upgraded further so I think for me thats the best route.

I think at this point we don't know what the **** SE is going to update or not. The OAT guns or double damage guns could just as easily be upgraded as the Armageddon.

That's the whole problem with this era of FFXI. I have no idea what they are going to do with equips. Everything that looked good 3 months ago ha changed and maybe that everything that looks good now will be different next update. It's a bit crazy. I'll keep working on various guns but I'm not making a big commitment to anything until the 99 cap hits and I know what is the new endgame gear.

All Magian weapons have been upgraded from the 75 version to 80 version what makes you think they'd stop now?
Also I hope you're 1) in an endgame type LS/group and 2) the only person in the LS/group who is gonna want the required gems otherwise it will be quite a while before getting the 50 gems.

If you were to get the MAB gun you wouldn't be wasting your time, you'd have the best QD gun until unlocking Armageddon (assuming Mythic isn't an option of course) and the best gun for Leaden Salute.

Edit: Magian system started looking like a great way for casual gamers to be able to get amazing gear with a casual amount of effort and is now looking like another hardcore element if you want the best option.

All the paths recieved an extension to level 80 this update - even the non-NM kill multiple members of mob family during day/weather were extended. That I think sets the precedent that they're going to be able to go further and further down more specialized paths as the level cap raises - SE have always wanted to push that specialism angle within the game and this seems to be the way to do that. Eventually you're going to have paths ending up with loadsa ranged acc, loadsa ranged attack, or a small cannon that can punch a hole in the planet depending on how you want to take things and how hardcore you're wanting to go.

I'm going down the Mayhem ranged acc path at the moment (missed slugs and stuff drive me up the wall) purely as a future proof I'll have some decentish upgradable gun when the paths extend further. If I've got time again, I'll go back and do the similar rnaged attack path later as well - not necessarily as ZOMG awesome NOW, but as future proofing for a further cap raise (I don't have a group to do the VNM/Abyssea content).

It's obvious that SE intends the Magian Moogle arc to be the way to extend gear up to 99 cap and minimize the collossal price gouge fest that would have ensued if everything was only AH buyable with the entire server wanting the gear all in one go - I can't see them ditching that when the cap's raised further, and it looks like the whole cap raise storyline and everything is intended to be down to those swindling, merit-point stealing, Moogles (give me my three merits back you thieving gits).

Don't meen to necro but "some" info was found on Quetzalli, though it may not be much.

Apparently it is a Suzaku reskin found in Tahrongi(A) and drops Metallon Mantle.

Hopefully he'll be a desired kill so that a person can leach some of the kills. Is he a forced spawn or random spawn I wonder?

Edit: just had a look and he better drop more than a metallon mantle or no one is going to want to try to take down a bird that can bene itself multiple times. Any other trials that require Quetzalli?

The other trials that require Quetzalli are the Great Katana & Great Sword that end up with double attack.

Well that's a relief. With all the SAM's around, there's bound to be groups doing this one.

I may go for this gun once there's some info about it. In the meantime, I'm working towards the OAT Spitfire. The only hard part will be hunting Verthandi and getting her eyes. The rest is cake.

I keep waffling back and forth honestly. I think the DD Spitfire will be better for COR with higher WS damage, QD damage, but the OAT Spitfire would likely be slightly better for RNG depending on how OAT guns interact with double shot trait.

Fortunately I'm still killing hippos so I don't have to make a big decision yet.

I've been debating between this & the wind/racc path.

Assuming what I've heard is true, and that Martial's TP bonus effectively gives us an additional 20 accuracy (at 100 TP), the level 80 form of the wind gun is only 1 point of accuracy behind, with 6 more base DMG. And it's only going to grow in future updates (assuming the pattern holds).

If I knew for sure our current melee for TP situation was going to continue, I'd go for the above no question since only Slugs really matter. However, I'm worried that eventually Joyeuse won't be viable forever with the potential for the sword's DMG to be severely outclassed in future updates. Since we aren't able to equip the Magian swords/daggers, will we still have an option for rapid TP gain while still doing decent damage? Or will we see a return to shooting for TP? In the latter scenario, I'd rather have the 2x dmg Spitfire.

I've got two trials left for the ice/MaB gun, and then it'll be time to decide I suppose...

Oh, I'm in agreement that the double damage Spitfire is better than the OAT one. The problem is nobody has any idea how to even fight Quetzalli, making it a moot point for now.

I may go for the wind gun, but I'm just fairly certain that my DDing potential would best be served by doing more shooting, as my poor M. Kris will eventually get outclassed. It's already 30 levels old, I doubt it'll hold up to more powerful stuff at 90+.
