Shame about SCH not getting MAB natively, but at least it can get MABII by subbing BLM. 60 SCH can still be an effective nuker by subbing BLM for MAB+24 from traits, and activating the Wizard's Earring latent for Elemental Skill+5. So all is not lost. It does make me very glad I already got my Moldavite and Wizard's Earring though, there's going to be a lot of competition for them now I think ^_^

Healer?? only if they lack damage.

I believe the only way SCH will become an extra healer to FFXI is if their BLM spells don’t add up. Think about it, every job with the ability to cast direct damage spells (including SMN) become healers if their damage does not add up.

Look at SMN, 70 BP’s do “some” damage, but not enough, so even 70+ they are main healers (XP).
What about RDM? Teir III spells can kick some booty! But not when they are resisted 98% of them time, so RDM is healer/refresh.

Then look at BLU, TRUST ME, BLU can be your main healer with NP, espically BLU/WHM. But they are not because their damage is good.

Look at BLM, BLM/WHM has THE SAME healing capabilities as SMN/WHM. Why don’t you see BLM/WHM main healers? Because their MP is better spent on damage, same a BLU.

So if SCH starts busing out some serious damage, I predict DD mage, if it sux, then I vote healer….

Blackmages will hopefully return.

You don't invite two white mage's to a party, so why invite a SCH and a WHM when they share abilities?

First off, you made alot of good points, but i think ppl are forgetting sch wont be so much a rdm clone as a 2 in 1. you can flip a switch basically and go from slightly gimped whm to slightly gimped blm, but at the same time sch is bring its own gifts to the table as well. Sure a rdm can take on both roles but I dont think it can take on either role as well as the main 2 can, sch will be able to do that I think.

I havent got any job past 47 so all my knowledge is of early levels, so im sure im off in regards to late game dynamics.

But to keep on topic, sch may add a bit of competion for blm, but its nothing to worry about, in the end, any job would technically add compettion.

Magic DD fails in general. Unless SE does some major overhauling in this game its just not worth the time/mp to nuke. SCH has access to the same nukes as RDM but without any native MAB, same gear too. SCH can raise their skill to a B, guys hate to break it to you but RDMs been doing that for a LONG time. Weather bonus is a CHANCE at a 10% boost to damage, its FAR from guaranteed. You need the sea Obis to guarantee a benefit from it and those are level 71. I know everyones excited about SCH but really, its RDM before refresh. The only spells it has that RDM doesn't have is Regen II, and the weather/elemental DoT spells. The weather/DoT spells look sweet for HNM type stuff, but as for the XP/Merit grind 10-75 what does this job really offer that others don't. If you want "white + black" magic job then use RDM, it literally gets the same spells AND refresh/haste/convert.
