Q: SCH & Einherjar Follow

Okay, I'm recently getting back into some endgame events, like Einherjar, did my first one a few days ago and we went to the testing grounds, hounds were everywhere did Graviga got to the Marid etc...

Well after that I got a lil annoyed that my bind would get resisted and not last long, gravity lasted fine but I need some tips and tricks to being a SCH in this place.

Should I be looking at any oddball / situational gear from the SCH's who go into this that I'm overlooking? Besides /RDM for graviga, will that be the main subjob I use in there? Or will I have to lv drk and pld up for flashga / stunga??

Any information would be helpful, I'm really looking for "You know what Item I found useful there that I don't use anywhere else..." something around there, just want to be better next time around.

Hounds are strong against ice, and bind is an ice-based enfeeble. If you load up on enfeebling and magic accuracy gear, you may be able to get it to stick a little longer. I would expect hounds to be harder to bind than other mobs though. You really need to load up on gear to stick a good bind since it's a bit of a flakey enfeeble. Strong to ice mobs just make it worse.

Scholar doesn't have flashga, since white magic spells do not work with manifestation. Graviga is your best option still anyway. I think you were probably doing the right thing. You should still be a pretty good asset there, with gravity alone.

No. Read the ability descriptions.

Or look it up: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Accession

It was partly a nitpick that you'd said Manifestation for a White Magic spell more than anything.

I assume it's actually been tested as well, though (just in case the description is *gasp* wrong - typos and omissions are par for the course in this game, it seems at times).

Well I thought it was pretty clear that flash doesn't work with accession, with two strikes against it; the description states it's only for casting on party members and doesn't work with divine spells. To be fair, the description for manifestation doesn't include dark or enhancing magic, which is exactly why I posted a link containing all spells that work with accession. If you're not high enough to test it, I would have hoped you wouldn't dispute something myself and other high-level scholars have already tested for you months ago.

Flash doesn't work with either accession or manifestation. We go over this every week with silence-ga and paralyze-ga, which also don't work. If you're trying to be a smartass, you failed miserably.

That's totally not nice.

Anyway, does anyone think it's even a tiny bit amusing that Einherjar is E-in-Her-Jar if you pick out the syllables? I find it mildy amusing. ^_^

sorry for going off topic...

e-in-her-jar: better get the E outta her jar before the F gets jealous! so so sorry i couldn't resist ^___^

to agree with most of the others: stunga may seem very nice but you don't get much else for this situation with /drk and stun recast can be annoying.
flashga is as far as i know not able to be done... /rdm for graviga is a good way to go.

Alrighty, well thanks for the answers I guess that's what I'll do just that and just boost up on that gear and make that gravity work to the best I can. The only reason I asked about flash was b/c I was taking a long shot like how Mani works with Klma (Enhance) but nothing else in that range it seemed. But okay I was wrong PLD stays at lv8. thanks a lot for the reply.

This has nothing to do with subjobs, but some of the other -ga spells are pretty good. Dispel-ga is nice for casting mobs that buff, such as ghosts. If they happen to wake up, they may cast ice spikes instead of something terrible like blizzaga III. You can also throw out a blind-ga for good measure or an aspir-ga if the mobs have MP. You may not get good use out of bind-ga though, unless people are organized enough to stay away from the mobs.

Also, if you really want AoE stun/flash, you may consider asking people to come BLU. Temporal shift and actinic burst are pretty good crowd control toys, plus they have sheep song.

Shouldn't a SCH and BRD combo be an ideal crowd control grouping for einherjar?

Then you wouldn't really have to worry about bind. Just keep gravity up and them BRDs will do their stuff.

The new changes to Einherjar leads me to wonder about SCH's usefulness/role in it now (in our capacity as crowd control, not as support in general). Now that mobs will link normally (which, in the case of the undead and elementals, means not at all), are we still going to be utilized as crowd control the way we were?

Seems like SMNs are going to steal the show with Carby pulling. That and most of the mobs that DO link can be slept with Black sleep so the BLMs can control them just as they do in Dynamis.
