Soo.. I took SCH from 65-73~ by doing manaburns in Xarc_S off tigers, and one thing i noticed was that SCH isn't too shabby in those things. But, of course, i had to start all my own manaburns..i mean,who invites scholars instead of black mages? nobody. I'd have to say that i would match the blm nukes 90% of the time in dmg, whenever i used Ebullience i would ALWAYS nuke harder. But what has me so frustrated is that people just dont acknowledge how hard us scholars can really hit. Earlier this week a LS mate asked if any BLM wanted to burn bc he just had a spot open up, i said i would go sch and the response i got was, "oh sorry, BLM***". i was like, are you serious??? I'm not one to start Drama, especially within my own LS but come on...
to sum it up, i cant stand when ppl underestimate our job.. ughhh
on a lighter note, DING 75 SCH off of merit parties. XD

Not accepting a SCH into a BLM burn in Xarc[S] is retarded. I've gotten chain 9-10 in a duo with a BLM. In a 1x BLM 2x SCH trio, I've gotten like Chain 29, if memory serves (it was at least in the 20s), and the BLM had to rest way more than the SCHs.
In fact, I'm certain that 6x SCH at Level Sync 71 could infinichain the tiger pets in Xarc[S] if they split into 3-man teams that chained to 20 then stopped to rest, while the other team took chain 21-40 then rested, and just traded off like that.

exactlyy, after awhile i started pulling for manaburns.. mainly bc most ppl are either too slow of dont know how to pull w/o links, i pull to about chain 20 bc by that time the blm start running out of mp. sch/nin + ghetto gaiters ftw. and guess who has the most mp that entire time?? ME. i even have time to throw a nuke when i get back to camp to help resists.. gotta love sublimation.
Actually, if you want to improve your chains even further (assuming you're not duoing with a gimp BLM or SCH, which will make this not work), but if you have SCH/RDM + [SCH/RDM or BLM/RDM], a Stone IV + Water IV will completely take out the tigers in one nuke from each person. Just switch back and forth, because 2x Water IV is overkill, and 2x Stone IV will leave it with a sliver of health left.
Essentially, you get your nukes to hit hard enough that you don't need /NIN, you roam instead of pulling, and as such you gain Bind/Grav for emergencies, /RDM's larger MP pool + MAB, and Fast Cast, which is always nice.
Edit: And in case of Day damage reduction (Water IV on Lightningsday, etc.), a Drain is usually enough to finish off a sliver of HP.

There are some BCNMs that are done with BLMs for aga nukes which means SCH would be pretty much useless besides being able to sleepga.

I know what you mean Zagen and that is very true but i think you miss understood him. He was talking about burn parties in Xarc. [S] not BCNM. He said "bc he had an open spot" meaning because. Or maybe i misunderstood you, who knows.

I burned xarc_S all the way to 75, but I was never there for nuking. That was just a bonus. Mainly I was responsible for Stoneskinning and buffing the group, tossing up weather when needed, and being there to give out R2 when something went wrong (like that stupid dragon).
I also did get to show off a little by soloing a tiger that wiped some of the group, thanks to chigoe attempts in the mire. (bind/nuke/sleep method FTW)

You would've got better XP/hr if you had been nuking fulltime; Storm spells aren't worth casting until 70, and even then are a waste in a pet manaburn, since you are not decreasing the number of spells cast for each kill; and everyone should be /NIN, which makes Stoneskin redundant.
