Most good BLMs are able to keep their 3 basic magic skill levels capped (elemental, dark, enfeeb). The majority of these good BLMs read these forums and already know this. =p

I'm planning to level Enfeeb in Korroloka Tunnel sometime soon, along with my club skill. I already have Elemental and Dark capped.
As for my gear, take a look. For food, I use Melon Pies and Yagudo drinks. Hopefully you dun consider me a gimped BLM. ;_;

My Enfeebling has been pre-capped all throughout my BLM career, due to a healthy 'Dia' life as WHM.
However, I can't count the number of times I have ES+SleepII'd some mobs, like bats, and had them resist.
Some mobs just simply -can't- be slept easily by BLM Sleep spell, even RDM's have trouble with them.
Want near-guaranteed crowd control on anything but tonberries? Bring a BRD. Both you and the BRD will be happy.

ES+Sleep still fails for me on Too Weak bats and undead mobs on occasion, as a RDM with maxed enfeebling. GG.

Talking about normal mobs.... and toyo, nice gear. If i may make a sugestion, swap Magna hands with seers mitts+1, more INT. Well, if your enfeebs are a little less than cap thats just fine, but if ES+sleep II misses on a normal mob (Not undead, bat, whatever) than il buy you a single trip ticket to the moon >.>

as far as ES on a crab are you sure it was resisted? are you surea dumb melee did not wake it? are you sure it did not have any type of dots?

Yes, im sure it didnt get hit. The melee were all on one crab, the blm uses ES + Sleep II (after getting sleep resisted), and there were the magical words: The robber crab resists the spell.
All the melee were on the other crab... The crab also didnt do his buff (Where he resists magic alot), didnt have any DOT and i clearly saw "The blm uses ES" and it getting resisted.

Just out of curiousity is your sig out of date. Last I checked most people don't xp in Kuftal Tunnel until after lvl 50. So if indeed you were in kuftal, perhaps the crab was just beyond the skill of whomever was trying to sleep it. Granted I could be wrong and your sig could be out of date.
My other question is then, that if your main is a blm, why didn't you sleep the crab? If you died because "the blm" couldn't sleep it, aren't you really just getting mad at yourself. Now as I said I could be completely wrong, but something about this just doesn't seem right.

sometimes it happens, its how the game is sometimes when exping on IT+++ (i'm saying that because i bet you all my gil that the blm was low compared to the rest of the pt/mobs) kinda like how you can have accuracy gear out the *** and still go on a miss fest

It is out of date... TO that BLM, they must have been low IT, maybe even high end vt (yes, lvl gap, lvl 54 in kuftal on crabs is a lil high)... and he ES+sleep failed. Lets see.... the only time il mess up a normal sleep on a VT is if its a undead, bat, etc. But but but! We arent finished yet! At 50, i dont have any elemental staves, and he darkstaffed it, ES, and still got resisted by a VT mob... great.... just great.... I can imagine him getting aggro by a TW while resting and dying... lol...

Not many people have enfeeble capped because its only useful in tight situations.
Example: Black Mage: "Oh yes! of course this poison spell will work! wow! 3 points of damage every couple of seconds!"
Plus unless you have enfeebling capped (or if you are RDM) enfeebling is usually useless on exp mobs.
And by the way enfeebling is for Red Mages.

I don't really wanna flame you because I don't that'd be very productive to this thread. Just want to fill you in.
I'm looking at your sig and assuming your BLM is still 50. I won't say that it doesn't require a lot of experience with the job, however wait until 70+ you get to see a different side of things.
We as BLMs live a life of resistance to most all Enfeebling Magic, as it is not our natural magic. We are Elemental Magic users, and that's how we are designed. I will be the 1st to tell you I have all available +Enfeeb Magic gear I can get my hands on, torque, af, etc... as well as having it capped. And to this day I get resisted hardcore on some mobs. Remember that RDMs are our debuffers and supposed to be sleepers, lol. We are an amazing and versatile job, but we can't be the best Elem Mag and Enfeeb. Take that with a grain of salt I guess
However, as far as your point about capping magic... ABSOLUTELY! At low lvls it IS hard to keep capped (60 and less IMO) so a skill up may be necessary, but keeping it capped makes a HUGE difference. Once it's capped it's easy to keep it that way. It is very frustrating to hear a mage say his magic is 30 lvls under cap, much like a melee saying his main weap is 30 lvls under cap, blah blah.
Take a deep breath tho dude, you keep playing BLM the right way and everyone will know who's good and who's not.

Try to solo some exp without capped enfeebling skill... Ever noticed those annoying 3000 TNLs 1 hour before you have to go? Thats right, soloing time. Oh wait, you dont have enfeebs up.... guess youre gnna have to wait till tomorow for a PT.
Anyway, you should have all your magic up... even divine can be usefull in very rare ocasions.

I'm not trying to flame you right now, this is merely a question. Were there 2 BLMs in your EXP party?, You mentioned melees were on a different mob, which means it wasnt manaburn. That suggest to me that either it was you, who was the BLM getting resisted, this is a useless elitist topic from an idiot, you unretired your DRK, or you had 2 BLMs.

Wow I didnt even catch that, yeah why would you only have that little MP if you are doing chain5? I've always found 2 BLMs to not be best for a standard party, thats just IMO though.
First of all that a horrible lvl range, 2nd of all, with 12 more elemental skill, and the other BLM being tarutaru, theres no way he'd get resisted more then you. Even with bad gear, tarutaru has the same INT as a grreat elvaan.

Lets see... i burned all my mp to keep the chain going, since all his nukes "Or should i say sneezes or pokes" got resisted. keep in mind we also didng have refresher. Now normally another melee would do his damage, but mr useless did ~250-300 damage/fight (parsed)
