I'm a returning 75BLM who's back after a 3 year break, and to my pleasant surprise the CoP areas are uncapped now. That being said, has anyone tried soloing the Dobsonfly fight without dying? Are there any suggestions for subjobs and/or strategies? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

wiki says that if you one-shot a fly, the others won't link. So you could try trying to one-shot them one at a time with your strongest nuke. At 75, I don't know if the gap in level is big enough between you and the flies to just outright nuke them down with a bunch of -gas before they kill you.

Thanks for the response. I may try a fully buffed Freeze II just to see what happens. If that doesn't OHKO one I'll hope Stoneskin lasts long enough to get off Sleepga and Blizzaga them to death.

That would probably work if he was level 99. Or is this your round-about way of suggesting he just level to 99 first?

I can't imagine anyone making Dobsonflies a priority over getting to the level cap... but it's not like it even remotely matters in this case anyway. Assuming his skills are capped at 75, Stoneskin/Phalanx + Manafont aga-3 spam will work just fine.
The strategy I outlined, however, is useful for a lot more at 99 than killing level ~45 NMs, that was kinda the point~
